Will was amazing. He came over to put a pool light in and was about to get in 60 degree water to do it. Fortunately, he found a box on the side of the house that simply needed to be turned on, so he didn't have to get in after all. In my defense we just moved into the house and didn't know about the switch outside. Will was professional and kind during the whole ordeal and refused the $100 tip that I was prepared to give him. Will gave me quotes on other work we want to get done and he had the quotes back to me within an hour. He is very efficient and gets things done. High regards to Will and pool troopers. read more

I have been a customer for months and recently purchased a pool pump through this company. The pump was installed with broken parts, which was frustrating enough, but then I discovered I had been charged twice for the pump--an extra $3,000. I was initially told the duplicate charge had been refunded. Ten days later, I was informed they had made yet another mistake and never actually processed the refund. To make matters worse, I can't get anyone in the office to answer my calls or return my messages. The only person I can reach is the technician, who has told me the office isn't responding to him either. At this point, I feel completely ignored. I have reported the situation to the company's corporate office and filed a dispute with my credit card company. Having $3,000 tied up because of a company's mistakes, while being ghosted instead of helped, is one of the most unprofessional customer service experiences I've ever had. I hope they make this right, but based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company. read more

We inherited this vendor from our previous pool servicing company which got sold to them... Initially the service was good (first couple of months)... However, we saw the services progressively get worse. What broke our trust was that when we were out for thanksgiving, the did not notify us that the pool level was low (and did not bother to fix it). When we returned, the pool pump for not functioning. We had to wait for four days before someone from their service came to take a look, and that person claimed that the motor was broken -- they refused to own to their mistake and instead asked us to put a repair order where the visit cost was $180 (which I had to pay despite no mistake of mine) We waited for three weeks and the repair order was NEVER SCHEDULED I then requested another vendor to come take a look, and it turned out that the filter was incorrectly put, and that there was NOTHING WRONG with the motor. The other vendor fixed the issue in less than 10 minutes and did not charge me anything (but I gave him my business) I feel strongly that this company did not own upto the mistake (at best) and is corrupt (at worst). Did they sabotage my pool to make money?!! That is the worst feeling one should have about people you want to trust to look after their homes... read more

They replaced my equipment with a used chlorinator so "it would be cheaper for them to service". When I told them I don't want a used one and questioned the off-brand, they said don't worry, we warranty it as long as we service it. Now that it needs service they tell me they "gifted it" to us 9 months ago and won't cover it - even though they kept charging us the full amount for those 9 months. When a manager got on the line that's when the lying started. Deceptive practices. Now I have to pay to buy new equipment and repair the junk install they made. Stopped using them. Update: Pretty funny they say they installed a "used" salt system as part of the service(no additional monthly cost for the use or repair cost involved). It was part of the service cost they advertised, sold and charged. Was a good company for years before they became pool troopers. Let's see how their 99% satisfied customers feel when their system fails and they get hit with thousands in costs because poil troopers supposedly sent an email "gifting it". Thanks for nothing. I did not reside at my house for a few months in Pinellas county and had Pool Troopers do the pool maintenance. I had a friend check it once in a while. When I sent them a picture showing algae growing all over, it took them a month to respond when I told them there was a frog in the pool. Their chemical treatment should not have allowed algae to grow. They say " if any issues were noted, we'll provide a follow-up within 24 hrs. ". That never happened. Eventually, Patrick told me he " will get the pool blue and clear ". Oh, and 6 times they reported their crew did not have the gate code, when they actually did. Unfortunately I am posting a bad review of this company. Our previous pool service company sold their business to Pool Troopers and our pool as progressively gotten worse since they took our previous technician away. Communication with the current technician did not help until my husband and I got firm about it. Neither the technician nor the customer service representative even bothered to apologize. We pay a pool service to keep the water and pool clean because we don't like to do it ourselves and we really do not appreciate the hassle of having to get firm with people to get things corrected. We were with the previous pool company since 2006 and did not have a single complaint or issue that entire time. Hopefully we can find a company with the same quality of service and work ethics that we once enjoyed. read more

They're there on time, never miss an appt., pictures are taken for proof of visit (move your furniture around if you want!). We decided to go with Bay Area Pool Service because we wanted to take advantage of their salt system promotion. Worst mistake ever. We battled just to get them to show up when they were supposed to and after they finally converted the pool, told us not to worry that the salt level on the machine said it was low as "sometimes it just says that." Longer story short, our pool is now green and Bay Area is refusing to return to address the issue. Not sure if they want the useless converter back if they aren't coming. We have to pay $200 for another company to come out and fix it and then I have to go to court to force Bay Area to pay for what they messed up. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! read more

I have been a customer of Bay Area since 1990 and I have found them to excellent. In the bast 28 years we may have had 3-4 algae outbreaks that were handled immediately. My pool water is crystal clear 99.9 % of the time. We have had the saltwater Chlorine generator ever since it was offered by Bay Area and we love it! No heavy chlorine smell, easier on our swimsuits and also our grand-kids eyes. We had one failure of it ,,And again the repair was taken care of immediately. If you have Bay Area servicing your pool and are not happy with something ...Call their customer service or service department. They will get it taken care of. I will be staying with then as long as I pool. read more

For those who only read the first paragraph of reviews, here is what you need to know about BAY AREA POOL SERVICE: DO NOT EVER DEAL WITH THIS HORRIBLE COMPANY. Their Salt Water Generator is of the lowest quality, and will end up costing you thousands of dollars in pool repairs, unclean pools and a lifetime of frustration. Before I hired BAY AREA POOLS, I maintained my own pool for years. I never had a problem doing the cleaning myself. The only issue was my own busy schedule and the desire to enjoy my time in the pool, instead of my time cleaning the pool. I received a mailer from the company with the SALT WATER CHORINATOR and the promise of "They do all the work, and I will have all the fun". From the very start, I was presented with issues about my pool. It needed this... it needed that... I let them have their way to get everything set up THEIR SPECIFICATIONS...Costing my hundreds of dollars. But even after all the work and setup they did, I was still spending my weekend cleaning my pool. I now had Green algae, yellow algae and the worst BLACK ALGAE in my pool. If you research black algae, you will find out that it's the hardest to remove from your pool, and only gets into your pool by not maintaining the chemical levels. Bay Area Pools blamed my trees, my deck, my gutters etc. Trusting their advice, I cleaned my gutters, had all my trees cut back, pressure washed and re-stained my deck... costing me hundreds of dollars. My pool kept turning green and unswimable. I work from home and I watched the pool tech walk in my back yard, look at the green pool and drive off. After a year of horrible service with BAY AREA POOL TROOPERS, I was ready to fire them. I first reviewed Bay Area Pools in 2015 after having horrible service, but I was asked by Customer Service Supervisor, Patrick Krantzberg to remove my review with a promise from the company "to make everything right". I agreed to do and really wished I hadn't. During the next year, Bay Area Pool service was still consistently underperforming and they blamed my filter (DE Filter) and had me replace it with a cartridge filter. After that didn't keep my pool from returning to the green-state that it was in, they said my pump was to blame. So, I purchased a top-of-the-line variable speed pump at the cost of $1500. Then they blamed my barracuda cleaner, and recommended that I purchase a pressure-side cleaner. I paid hundreds of dollars for the cleaner, and since I was going from a suction-side cleaner to a pressure-side cleaner, I paid hundreds of more dollars to have my pool line re-plumbed for the new configuration. They were still coming over and dumping so many chemicals into my pool and telling me I could not swim in it for 48 hours which left me a non-swimmable pool over weekends and holidays, where my guests were either greeting with a green pool, or excuses why they could not swim. Their salt water generator is a complete joke, and their pool tech repeatedly told me so. It kept breaking down and leaving my pool green. The salt cell kept dying leaving my pool green. I was not able to use my pool for 9 months out of the year... and I was embarrassed to let any one into my back yard, because of how BAY AREA POOL TROOPERS left my back yard. Their company is unprofessional and unorganized. Their customer service hangsup on you. Their employees don't communicate with each other. I have finally had enough, I emailed the Customer Service Supervisor and cancelled my service and received this reply. "I have read your complaint. I understand that there have been some issues there. Clearly, you must have a tough pool to contend with - as we manage to keep +12,000 pools blue week to week. I realize your level of confidence is limited at this time, but certainly there is something going on there that is contributing to the issue. I will send this email over the Supervisor, so he sees what you are requesting and why. I'm sorry that things did not go any better." To this date, Not only have I have not heard about a refund, they keep charging my credit card for services they have not performed. I have since hired a new pool company, and within 24 hours their had my pool back to its previous glory, and over the last few weeks reduced their monthly charge "because my pool is so easy to deal with". read more

We have been customers for the past 20 years of this company and unfortunately for the past few years there service has been going down hill rapidly. They have neglected our pool with cleaning and have eliminated the chemical service by installing a salt water system which would be great but when you pay for cleaning weekly and it looks horrible. We've called multiple times and spoke to many different people in the office and they never show up to do anything. They didn't even know how to hook up a new pool vacuum and never could figure it out. I ended up doing it myself. They used to be a good company now like many others they are only interested in profits and not customer service. read more
