Great family and community establishment to grab a beer and burger/sandwich along with watching a sporting event

Great little find in the Fenton area. If the hot wings aren't world famous they should be. Loaded chicken nachos were . They were like a deconstructed taco. Mozzarella sticks were on point. Haile took care of our group. Not taking off any for not having enough mushrooms to make a full order for us. We probably didn't need it anyway. read more

In my humble opinion they have the best wings in the country. I travel every where and all the time and I still haven't had any wings even close. I believe the combination of great wings and the best ranch dressing helps. I would absolutely love to try there other menu options because they look fabulous but my last 20 visits have all been for "The Wing Special". This includes a pound if there fabulous wings sauced but dry, a salad with your choice of dressing but I highly recommend the Ranch, and a piece of Cheese Garlic toast that if you have extra hot sauce for you dip, nice. read more

Someone please let me know why Stefanie was let go? She was absolutely, hands down, the best waitress there. I understand that she broke her ankle and was unable to work for a while, but should she have not been let go because of it??! I think not!!! I have been coming to Poor Richards for over 25 years - Stefanie had been my waitress for about 13 of those years. An injury should have no bearing on her employment status. Owners - you SUCK!!! You have lost a loyal customer. I don't live in town, but I made it a point to visit every single time I came home.....no longer! You screwed up! I actually come here pretty often, but now that I am burning myself out of the place, I decide to write a review. There is one big issue I have with this place, it stinks like dirty grease. You will need to wash your clothes and hair after you leave here. DO NOT put your clothes in the hamper when you get home, put them directly in the wash or you will be wondering where the stench is coming from the next day. It is however better than the oppresive haze of smoke that hovered above the dining room before the smoking ban went into effect. We typically only get a few things here on the regular, wings, steak fries and dinner salad. We will sometimes get the boneless, but beware of the over breading and dryness. It is probably better to go the traditional wing route here. The basket of steak fries are usually a safe bet. Hot, plentiful and cheap. The real deal here is the wing special. It comes with wings, cheese garlic bread and a side salad for about $10. It is hard to beat. The beer is priced pretty well for a pitcher, but could be colder. It is kid friendly, so we are down with that. Servers are hit or miss. There is one crabby one who needs to go back to server college, but the rest are super cool. Last thing is TVs. I don't like to rate a place by their inventory of TVs, but there is like one table in the restaurant with a decent view of a TV. I know, I should rather talk with my lovely wife and kids, but when there is Blues or Cardinals playoffs on, I'd rather not watch it in the reflecion of the Busch beer plaque. read more

For a place called poor richards, it's sure expensive to eat here. I just finished writing a review about how it's relatively hard not to spend more than $10 on lunch in the Fenton area and Poor Richards was a place where I came in expecting to be able to get some cheap bar grub for less than 7 bucks (thinking Tuckers). Just about everything here started at about $8. Russell's just down the strip mall starts at about the same prices but Poor Richards just serves your run-of-the-mill bar food. I had the wings and a salad, and, while pretty good, didn't really differentiate from the other bars I've been checking out in the area. Visiting Fenton for business, we happened upon poor richards. After reading the reviwes on yelp, we figured we'd give it a try. 1. Great chicken wings. Really. They some of the best we'd ever had. 2. While their burgers are supposedly fantastic, after devouring 25 wings, we figured we'd pass on the burger for some lighter fare.. we were not disappointed. The hot turkey and the hot ruben were delicious... fries, done well along with the awesome onion rings... 3. The beer was plentiful and cold. So what more do you want for a random Tuesday night. Ended up here with a group of guys last night to take in the Bruins absolutely dominate Vancouver in the Stanley Cup Finals. Since the Cardinals were again getting beaten by Washington, the waitstaff obliged us and we got the benefit of watching the game on two TVs near the bar area. Only downside was that they have HD TVs but no HD service. Service was excellent all night and the 9 of us were having a great time. Ended up splitting 50 wings with a few of the guys. My buddy at work had recommended the wings and while they were good I found them to be a bit on the small side and I just wasn't impressed with them. Size does matter when it comes to chicken wings and I felt like I could have easily put down a plate of 25 on my own and still have room left over. Aside from that, it is a nice hole-in-the-wall place to go for a beer. They had $5 pitchers and $1 draft specials going during the Cardinals games so even if the Red birds get beat by a AAA squad you can at least drown your sorrows. read more

I've never sat down and ate in here, mainly because I'm not a bar kinda gal. But they have some serious tasty hot wings! I order a batch of 50 wings for about $32...pricey yes, but they're so worth it. Gonna be honest though, never had anything else off their menu and I'm not sure if I'm ready to look past the wings, my eyes just stop at that part on the menu. Maybe one of these days I'll actually sit down and order something else, but till then, just going to enjoy my wings in the comfort of my television. read more

Good Stuff I can honestly say they have the best Bloody Mary around. Also their food is good and also inexpensive. Excellent wings, burgers. Recently I had the Philly steak and cheese which was awesome. I would give Poor Richards a full five stars except for one thing. When you come out of this place your clothes smell like you've been working the deep fryer all day. They need some better ventilation in that place. read more

I sat at the bar for lunch and the service was absolutely fantastic! I ordered the chicken wings and a dozen was plenty. I ordered fries with them and the bartender suggested only a half and order because the orders of fries are huge. I'm a fry junkie so I was a little hesitant but I took her advice and was glad I did. Get the wing special. If you come here looking to eat anything else, you're doing it wrong. Get the wings hot and ranch on the salad. Don't be the dummy that comes to a great wing place for "boneless" wings (chicken nuggets), or the fish sandwich. The rating here is for the wing special, a ton of food for under $11. Pro tip: get the bloody bull, a Bloody Mary with beef bullion. Not for everyone, but it's great if that's your thing. read more

A group of friend visited there this week for wings and beer. The wings came out with out any sauce. Got the young server to bring us a couple of containers of 'grease' there was NO hot sauce in them. We need 4 beer glasses all were dirty! We asked for hot sauce and clean glasses, she kept waiting on tables around us but didn't return to our table for 20 minutes and then with classes but said they were to busy to make any sauce. WTF? This place has improved 250% since the restaurant smoking ban passed in Saint Louis County. Beer selection isn't impressive by any stretch but the specials are nicely priced. Service is pretty good, great place for catching up with friends. Nice inexpensive place for dinner. I wouldn't necessarily reccomend it as anything other than a neighborhood bar, but all things considered, it's pretty good. read more

Ordered for curbside pickup tonight and was greatly disappointed. We ordered the lemon pepper grilled whitefish with twice baked potato and house salad. When we arrived home, they left out their ranch dressing. The twice baked potatoes we so overcooked that we couldn't even eat them because they were so hard. I will say the fish was delicious but the rest of the meal was a big fail. read more

First time visit Saturday 4-18-2015 6:45 pm Party of four adults and one child, ordered the wing specials came with 2 salads and 2 garlic bread total of 24 wings also ordered the potato skins and the double cheese burger with frys, five draft beers, we all split the above food, what a treat, all the food was great service by PAT was outstanding!!!! I'm a big fan of their wings! They are consistently tasty and crispy. Get them hot, with extra sauce and bleu cheese. I haven't had any of their other food, but Poor Richards is known for their wings so that's why I show up. It's a super relaxed, no-frills type place. Wednesday 2/8/2017 at 1pm The place was packed. We were not greeted at the door as we sat ourselves at the nearest dirty table. The server came over after 2 mins and brushed a portion of the crumbs off the table with a sweep of her arm. We ordered a bottle of beer and a draft beer. She brought the beer to us as she held them against her body. The draft beer glass was warm from the dishwasher. No head on the beer and there was greasy residue floating on top of the barely cool beer. At the first sip of my beer, I detected what tasted like dish soap. We waited almost 10 mins before the server came back to the table to take our order. The Poor Richards wing special came with 12 bone-in wings or 10 boneless wings with a salad and cheesy garlic bread. I ordered 10 boneless wings, a caesar salad with garlic cheesy bread and the Mac & Cheese bites. She asked me what kind of dressing I wanted on my salad. I looked at her confused and confirmed I wanted Caesar dressing. My husband ordered a double burger with steak fries. She wrote all this down with no eye contact and rushed off to chat with the regulars which were given preferential treatment. Our lunch arrived shortly after my husband's bottle of beer was gone. She delivered the platters quickly and rushed off without a word. She did not remove the salad plate or ask if he wanted another beer. My boneless wings that were ordered were bone-in, my bread was cold with unmelted cheese on top and she did not return to see if everything was without issue. I ordered boneless wings for one reason only, because the table top was dirty as well as the sticky menus, so I didn't want to eat with my hands. My husband's burger greasy but tasted good, however, the steak fries were under cooked and cold. At no point did the server return to our table during our meal, but did pop by our table to place the bill down and left. I needed a box for the wings that I wasn't going to eat with my hands, as I was unwilling to visit the restroom to wash them fearing that would be as disgusting as the unclean table tops. I waited another 5 mins for a box, as did a table next to ours. We were using a gift certificate that we were given for Christmas, thank goodness because I wouldn't pay for an experience like. I left without a complaint because it seemed like the entire staff wanted to be anywhere but there. read more

I was going to start this review in a rant, but lets just start from the beginning. My husband and I decided to stop in here for a quick casual dinner before heading to my sons baseball tryout. We gave ourselves about an hour and 15 minutes to eat, which in normal operating establishments is PLENTY of time. We went with the obvious, and ordered wings and a salad. Nothing to difficult or time consuming. First, our waitress sucked. It took at least 10 minutes to get our drinks, an iced tea and a beer. She came over took our order, and that was the last we saw her. Lets get down to it. I have NEVER EVER in my life waited 45 minutes for a SALAD....... ever.......... Time is ticking and we now have 1/2 hour to get to my sons tryout. Salad comes, finally... I'm already pissy, and ready to leave. Our wings come about 15 minutes later, and we had a whole 5 minutes to eat them. We asked for our check when she dropped the food off, because lord only knows how long THAT would've taken. The food itself...was okay... Not worth waiting an hour for. I am in no hurry to go back. To top it off, we were 10 minutes late to our destination. read more

This place has the most amazing chicken ceasar salad that i have ever had,i usually order it with a whole egg and it does come with a side of garlic bread,everything is always fresh and i haven't been dissapointed as of yet. it usually does cost me at about $10.00 but i feel it is worth it,and a better tasting salad than a Panera carries.Keep it up Poor Richard's. read more
