My partner and I had a really excellent week's stay at Snug Cottage in Provincetown - we'd highly recommend it and will definitely book them again in the future. The hosts and staff of the inn were very charming and friendly and created a great atmosphere which made our downtime during the week very pleasant. The room was nice and cozy, with a tv, private bathroom, mini-fridge and microwave. A really nice and healthful breakfast was provided every morning, and the living room and secluded outdoor patio/garden space were very welcoming places to enjoy a beverage, read, and relax. The location is amazing as well - just steps to the east end of Commercial Street with all of the shops, restaurants, cafes, art galleries, drag shows, and other things the city has to offer, yet still removed enough to be quiet and peaceful, this place had everything we were looking for. We had a great experience with our last-minute stay at Snug Cottage. Charming hosts, clean and quiet space and a properly navigable parking area (across the street from the building). We stayed in the Spencer Room, which the website warns is the smallest, but really it was plenty of space to open our suitcases and get in and out of bed. The porch has a nice array of Adirondack chairs for reading and relaxing as well. The breakfast basket is a nice touch and contains things you'd actually want to eat - remember to tell them if you're going out to breakfast so it doesn't go to waste. read more

The Snug Hotel is quite simply a diamond. What a suburb stay! What made our night extremely memorable was the staff and YES the fire place. We had a lovely glass of wine over looking the ocean. We couldn't get over that we were so close and had the ability to party and have those quiet moments together. The food in province town was amazing as well. John helped us get into Tin Pan. Truly if anyone is going to go to P town stay at the Snug cottage. John and I believe his name was Gary were adorable(the inn keepers)!We're coming back! This time with the child! thanks again! Parking is free and across the street. It's a short walk to Commercial Street (but no sidewalks and no water views). We stayed in the Bristol on the second floor. Can get bright/warm in the afternoon but opening many of the windows A/C is an option. It's an old house, so you need to understand that the doors may not close right and the furnishings may not be really current. Pipes tend to knock in the night. It was more like staying at my Grandma's. Pink toilet/tub and sink. Kinda ghetto fabulous vanity, which seems kinds incongruous with the upscale Aveda bath products they provided. Bed was hard but decent. We yanked the plug on the mini fridge because they placed it right next to the bed. Garden looks OK and the fountain is very relaxing. Breakfast was fun talking to the folks staying there, who where interesting. Fresh fruit, fresh bread, coffee, granola, nothing fancy but something for everyone. Free wifi was nice, as was the computer that anyone could use downstairs. The newspapers were good to, basically making the little lounge a nice place to relax in the morning. For those who want to get away from the bustle of downtown P Town, this might be perfect. If you are going in the offseason and it is already quieter, you might like other/more modern offerings. read more

I recently stayed at Snug Cottage for a weekend getaway to Provincetown, and it was perfect. The exterior of the cottage looks like something out of a fairy tale, and the interior is just charming. Being a book-lover, I was instantly enamored with the shelves of books in the common area, not to mention the cushy chairs...perfect for relaxing before or after an excursion on Commercial Street! Tim and Docus were both wonderful and welcoming. By the end of the first morning it felt more like staying with friends than at a bed and breakfast. Tim sat with us that morning and told us all about the history of the town and the house, and Docus helped me find something to wrap some ice in after I fell while out walking and banged up my poor knee. My room was beautiful and the bed was soooo comfortable. I slept like a baby and actually woke up before my alarm clock, feeling refreshed. Everything was immaculately clean without feeling sterile. It was homey in the best way. The continental breakfast was a nice touch, everything fresh and delicious. As others have said it wasn't a massive spread, but it was good food and good coffee. Add that to the good conversation with Tim, and it was a perfect way to start the day. As for location, it really just couldn't be better. It was a short walk from everything, including The Mews, one of the best restaurants in the area. Overall, I think it's safe to say I will never look for another place to stay in P-Town. I found this place online and the travel site stated that it was the #6 bed and breakfast in Provincetown. I can't imagine what 1-5 were like because this place is the tits! I booked the Rutland Suite which has it's own private entrance with two chairs outside the door and is pretty secluded. Our room was thoughtfully stocked with wine glasses, a wine opener, two bath robes, a mini-fridge, a fireplace, Aveda bath products, and a full bookcase of bathroom reads/wanks including Men on Men 2 and Men on Men 5 [but strangely missing volumes 1, 3, and 4]. We checked out the DVD closet and it had a bunch of old and current movies. I was forced to watch "Get Shorty" against my will but I mostly ignored it and took access of the free Wi-Fi in the room. The breakfast included bagels, assorted juices, homemade granola, cereal, hard boiled eggs, and cheese. There is also an afternoon snack of awesome soft chocolate chip cookies, wine, lemonade and a nut mix. Plus, there is a mini fridge that has waters and sodas for the guests to grab whenever they want. What's nice about this place is that it's far enough away from the main drag that it's quiet, but close enough [about a block and a half] that you can sit on the chairs and people watch. My only complaint is that the bar soap was too soapy. Jesus. That's a stupid complaint. But I was taking a shower and soaped up my feet and the water turned ice cold all of a sudden and I started shuffling and then I thought "so that's why old people have those hold-on bars in their tubs" and then I thought: What if I fell? Would by BF wrap me up in a robe and drive me to the emergency room? Would he just take me as is? What if I died that way? What a stupid way to die. But I definitely loved this place and would definitely book the Rutland Suite again. Bonus points: I'm still alive! read more

I stayed here a few summers ago in the Upper Cricket, which is a small studio. The size was perfect for my dad and I. He took the bed, and I took the comfy couch. I loved the decor and that even though it was a studio, there was still some semblance of privacy. We had our own wraparound deck with plenty of Adirondack chairs and the location - closer to the galleries than the clubs, made it the perfect locale. The staff were very friendly when it came to making the reservation, leaving deposits, paying balances, etc. I'd recommend this place to anyone without hesitation. read more

Absolutely beautiful Art-Deco cottage with gardens, and immaculate bedrooms which are expertly-decorated. Our room had (and I think many of the rooms have) a fireplace, and a little sitting area. They have a dvd selection, with tvs and dvd players in the rooms, which is awesome! Being a B&B, they offer a lovely breakfast (a hot entree + plenty of fresh fruit, toast, hard-boiled eggs, coffee, espresso machine to make your own espresso, and OJ), and it's quite generous in quantity. They also offer free parking (across the street), which is needed & awesome! We did not find the owners to be very interested in who we were, but, on the other hand, this fact gave us lots of privacy. I've traveled extensively to B&B's and I can tell you that Snug Cottage feels more like a charming Inn rather than a B&B (where they talk more to you), with lots of (romantic) privacy. read more

The Snug Cottage is a perfect place to stay if you are in Provincetown. The owner (John) is so warm and friendly and an ideal host. John has a wealth of knowledge about the area. Upon arriving we met Doucas (spelling). She was personable and very welcoming to us. The connection between us and Doucas was made special since our daughter had spent time in South Africa. We showed pictures that I am sure brightened up Doucas' day and probably left her a bit homesick for her country. The room we stayed in (1 week) was excellent. We have been to other bed and breakfast lodgings and this met all of our needs. Extremely comfortable and very welcoming upon our return each and every night and day. The location of the Snug Cottage is a very convenient walk to the town and other areas you might want to go. If you're looking for someone to breathe down your neck and wait on you hand and foot, go find an overpriced hotel. But if you, like me, just want a lovely place to crash after a busy day of touring Commercial Street and Provincetown and can appreciate the quiet serenity of keeping your own hours and staying in a place that feels like a true home away from home, then Snug Cottage is the best. It's so good, I almost want to keep it a secret from everyone! Tim (owner) and Docus (housekeeper) are the best hosts you could ask for; they have everything ready for you when you arrive and leave you alone to enjoy your relaxing weekend getaway or vacation. When we arrived, Tim was at a conference and left us a lovely note with our keys, wifi password, and directions to our rooms. In case we needed him, he also left us his cellphone number and was extremely responsive the couple of times we did reach out needing his assistance. (I know some reviewers said that they called and Tim didn't pick up. Well, the guy does have a life, guys. So if you're smart, just text him. He'll respond pretty fast if not immediately and will follow up with a phone call if needed. Welcome to the 21st century where texting is a thing!) The three biggest takeaways for those considering Snug? 1) Breakfast: It's not a restaurant so don't expect a 5 star buffet with eggs benedict, etc. It's a nice continental breakfast. There may not be a lot of options (read: mainly toast, bagels, muffins, fresh fruit, yogurt, granola, cereal, coffee, milk, juice, tea) but personally, I'd prefer fewer options of high quality than a massive spread with nothing edible. Snug is the former, not the latter. If you need a "hungry man's" breakfast, nibble a little at Snug and then head a block down to the many breakfast restaurants on Commercial Street. 2) Rooms: what you see on the website is accurate. Keep in mind that it's an old captain's cottage converted into a bed and breakfast so you have the modern amenities, but historical preservation is also a huge part of the experience. Personally, I found Snug Cottage to be absolutely dreamy. 3) Location: Simply cannot be beat. You are a block up from Commercial Street which is right on the water. It's removed enough to be quiet, but close enough to everything you need. I cannot say enough about the innkeeper John--he has been in charge since February and in the face of this pandemic cleverly and efficiently made this inn a wonderful respite from the craziness of the world. A fantastic breakfast featuring their famous home made granola awaits you along with fruit yogurt and fresh baked pastry--all delivered outside your bedroom door each morning! We had the opportunity to stay at Snug Cottage this past weekend. The owner, Tim, did a wonderful job from start to finish. His hospitality was simply amazing and the property was very well maintained. What made our stay different from other B&B's, was that Tim did not hover over you. He made you feel welcome in his "home", while successfully making every attempt to be there when we needed something. In addition, the continental breakfast and snacks left out throughout the day were a definite plus. The cottage was a short walking distance from the center of town, which we enjoyed. It was close enough, but far enough away from the constant noise and foot traffic. We would highly recommend Snug Cottage and will most definitely stay here again. read more

The owners were wonderful and we had a great time. Don't skip out on their breakfast, it was quite tasty! We stayed in the victoria room. There wasn't much of a view, but it was large and comfortable. The room wasn't the greatest for tv watching, so if you plan on doing that, it may be better to bring a laptop and watch in bed-just as a fyi. Keep in mind it's an old house, so if floor board creeking bothers you, it may not be your bag. For a B&B we left feeling like we got a great bang for our buck, especially given that it was a holiday in-season week. We will be back! read more

I stayed at Snug Cottage for one evening which I booked at the last minute. The owner, James, is as sweet as can be, super helpful, accommodating and warm welcoming. The suite we stayed in was beautiful, quiet and more than well-equipped. Afternoon and wine and snacks are served. Tea, coffee and water a provided all throughout the day and breakfast was an absolutely delicious and healthy meal. :D I highly recommend staying at Snug Cottage as it is a short walk to Commercial, the main street in P-town. We recently rented two rooms at Snug Cottage for my Aunt and her friend who were visiting us. We are happy to of had the chance to meet the new owner at Snug Cottage, Tim. The inn itself is a lovely old Provincetown home with many rooms that have a wonderful view of the bay. My Aunt enjoyed her stay immensely and stated that she had had "the best three nights of sleep in months". There is a breakfast provided in the morning and the inn Is very conveniently located for an easy walk downtown and also is right on the shuttle bus line out to the beaches. Tim recently added an outdoor patio next to the breakfast room. We are very pleased to find that the Inn is being run by such enthusiastic and pleasant gentlemen and we hope to have them for neighbors for a long time. From my experience booking for my very particular Aunt, I can readily reccomend this place to all. read more

Why do you choose a B&B? Good location? Nice accommodation? Friendly Innkeeper? Good food? Value? This place fails on every count. I don't know how anyone could give it a good review. When was the last time you stayed at a B&B and never met the host? No greeting, no goodbye, no "how are you," nothing. You are met by a sign that says "Not home, pick up your key in an envelope in the drawer." We were there 3 days and each day was like that... no one there. The breakfast made a Super 8 look like good; nothing hot, absolutely minimal. As such, no guests stuck around. The place was full but we never met anyone in 3 days, except a Bulgarian (literally) house boy who didn't speak much English and mostly hid out in the kitchen. Location? Don't take kids here- On a very busy street with no sidewalks or shoulders as you walk to town. Accommodation? "Princess Diana" room was apparently hurridly renovated to accommodate guests. Tiny, dark, no closet, no opening window. Bathroom would give a building inspector a lot of work. Pedestal sink totally unsecured so it wobbles whenever used. Pendant light hits your head, and I am not a tall person. Painting and finish work totally amateur. The large structural post in the middle of the bathroom will injure you with sharp edges. The male nude artwork throughout the room may not be quite appropriate for some, even in Provincetown. -And all this for only $225/nt. I often stay at B&B's. This one honestly, was the worst. read more

This spring my husband and I booked 3 nights at Snug Cottage for the 4th of July weekend. Unfortunately we later needed to cancel because of a serious family health issue. I checked the inn's cancellation policy on their website which clearly states that the refund for cancellations made 21 or more days in advance is the deposit minus 10%. Our deposit was $548. We cancelled well ahead of the 21 days and received notification that we'd be getting a refund of $548 minus $95.70, which is obviously much more than 10%. I immediately emailed Tim and pointed out the mistake, but did not receive a response. Over the next month or so I left 3 voice mail messages asking to speak to Tim to try and resolve the issue, but I never received a call back. I managed to get him on the phone once and he confirmed that I should have been charged 10% of the deposit, but that he would need to call me back because he wasn't in the office. He never called back. This has been a very frustrating situation and I cannot as a result recommend that anyone try to reserve a room here. Very disappointing overall. read more

This place is adorable!! We stayed here and very much enjoyed our time. Tim (the owner) greeted us and gave us the "history" of the Inn and Ptown. He was very friendly and made sure we were comfortable. It's close enough to commercial street to walk but very peaceful at night. We had breakfast that was provided in the dining room. None of the rooms are the same and ours overlooked the side garden. Super cute place. read more
