What a fun local business to shop in. The store owner was so friendly and welcoming. She helped my daughters pick out sunglasses and my son pick out socks to match his personality. A great place to find a gift, souvenir, or splurge for yourself. The custom painted hats are an absolute must. A great way to support local and have a unique piece of art to wear and bring home with you. We received so many compliments on our hats. read more

Walking around New Orleans is typical for any tourist. In the morning we passed this store and out front was a mannequin with a dress that I admired. We kept on walking as we were about to take a bus tour of the city. After the tour we stopped and had a cup of coffee. Then we started to walk. Lo and behold there was the store with the mannequin and this time I went in and Katie was in charge of the store and I asked her about the dress etc. I ended up trying on and loving the dress and I even bought a hat. She was a lovely lady and made me feel really happy about my purchase. My family loved the way I looked in the dress and I feel lucky we decided to walk around again! read more

Cute shop full of great souvenirs. I bought a couple of super soft sweatshirts, crawfish socks, a leather alligator wristlet purse, and some other goodies. The cashier was super nice, but I noticed I was double charged a few days later. Called the store and the owner, Rhonda, took care of it right away. Super helpful and friendly. I was in New Orleans for 5 days and went to this store 3 times because I love it so much. The first time I went there I was searching for a hat. I walked in the door and was greeted by Wendy. When I told her I needed a hat, she looked at me for a minute and said, "I know the perfect one." She led me to cute a straw hat which looked great on me. For the rest of the week I got compliments on the hat even from men. Wendy is a fashion designer and has an amazing eye. My next 2 visits were because I love the store and hanging out with Wendy and Tay. They are so fun & hospitable. I ended up buying a bunch of cute clothes there because of them. My daughter and I went into Pop City during the French Quarter Festival 2022 while walking around the city and we loved it. I purchased hand painted hats for the both of us as well as other gifts for our family and friends. The staff was absolutely wonderful. They were extremely helpful and friendly with no pressure. Tay was amazingly kind and gave me a military discount. Thank you so much! My mom will be ecstatic with her gifts! It's one of the only stores I found that gives the 10%. Other places in NOLA seem to not care, despite their adoration for Andrew Jackson's win. But that was centuries ago. Troops' efforts are forgotten and dismissed, but not here! It was a breath of fresh air to enter this store. And a lot of "NOLA" graphics not just "New Orleans." I needed it for my mom whose name is Nola. So happy early Mother's Day, Mom!!! First, I am a local of New Orleans. Pop City is probably my favorite, if not - it is in my top 3 places to shop. I just went in after being gone all summer, and talk about amazing! I'm not sure if the store is under new management, but the staff is so friendly and welcoming! The merchandise, the set up, even down to the smell... everything...Absolutely spectacular! Walking around the French Market & having just indulged at Cafe du Monde, the lovely, unique hats at Pop City were calling my name Tried on this huge, super-fab, shaped linen & feather Derby Hat & after the 1st glimpse, it was luv at first sight. There were all kinds of fancy & fun hats from which to choose & you'll also find all kinds of fun New Orleans themed attire....from basic tshirts to fancy skull-sequined shirts Bags of all shapes & sizes & fun beaded jewelry - like their huge beaded rings which I would have totally fallen for had they not been too big for my finger, you'll find this to be a very cool stop in the French Quarter The staff had a kind word for everybody in their store & we sure left there w/ a smile on our faces & in our hearts. Fantastic store!! The staff was extremely helpful and friendly without being pushy which was very nice. I went there yesterday for the first time expecting to just look... Apparently I need serious lessons on self control! I ended up getting pastel glitter flip flops which are extremely comfortable! Walked around in them for about eight hours and my feet felt great after; better than my Dansko boots! I also got a dress and small purse. The prices seemed reasonable for the area. Definitely a store I plan to visit when I come back... Or possibly before I leave! One warning, they did not seem to carry many items in small sizes. Nearly all the cloths I looked at were medium, large, or extra large. Being my first time, I don't know if that is common but it is something to be aware of if you're small. read more

My two girlfriends and I stumbled upon this place on Friday. The store owner was there, and she was very sweet and helpful with sizes, suggestions and details about the clothing without being pushy or standing over your shoulder. We had a mini fashion show and I had a blast trying on lots of clothes, and made some great purchases! Prices were reasonable and quality of clothing was good. They truly have a little bit of everything: from clothing, to vinyl, to electronics, to glassware, to jewelry, onto everything else. Located on Magazine Street, this business is very easy to find. Once inside, you will be overwhelmed by a plethora of antiques and even a number of modern items. Plus, just about everything else you can imagine. It's really an experience to go inside. It's a great place to shop for that gift you need for that special someone or that something you never knew you needed it. In terms of pricing, I feel like they are very reasonable. Whereas some antique stores really push their pricing to the maximum, this is not the case with Magazine Antique Mall. They offered their items at very fair and reasonable prices. Overall, the main reason to go in here is it is just a very fun place to shop. It's an experience onto itself. You never know what you are going to find. And, when you do find that very special item, you're gonna find it for a great price.

But this time around, it was just a bunch of poorly curated junk. The way things were displayed was poor, just unorganized, requiring you to dig around. It feels overwhelming going in here. Previously, I felt like I was on a treasure hunt, but this time around, I was feeling anxiety going through all the stuff. They do have old typewriters and old phones though, at decent price (around $115-175 for typewriters, and $25 for the old phones). I thought those were the coolest items. But honestly, they didn't even have the cute charm I was hoping for. Some of the typewriters did have handles, which was great if you wanted to carry it on your flight back home. But, you couldn't take the lid off...just a bummer. Will forever continue to search for the vintage typewriter and phone.

I was disappointed with my experience at Pop City New Orleans. I had higher expectations based on the reviews and reputation, but my visit did not meet those expectations. The customer service was lacking, and I felt that my concerns were not addressed in a timely or professional manner. Additionally, the overall experience did not feel worth the price. Communication could have been better, and there were several issues that made the visit frustrating rather than enjoyable. I won't be returning. read more

Pretty magical store--whatever you need, it'll appear as if it was meant only for you, because there'll only be one of it and it'll be in the exact right colors! One of my favorite songs even started playing the instant I saw the dress I needed. The staff is super friendly and charming here. Plus, one of the owners authored a trio of gorgeous books you can pick up for a great price. Will def return the next time I'm in New Orleans! read more

The highest quality, most unique selection of socks, hats and tops. Absolutely, if you're looking for a nice NOLA hat, top, or pair of fun socks, come here. The prices are reasonable since everything is printed on Canvas, or other high-quality brands. Also, they have a ton of other cute items as well. You'll find it at the end of the strip, but it is totally worth the bit of extra walking. read more

The service here is top notch. A young lady named Lydia made suggestions and was very attentive. Her self awareness and kind demeanor made me feel comfortable not only in the boutique's selection, but in my own skin. Highly recommended coming and saying hi to Lydia. Also saw a bunch of LSU themed stuff but we were there for the crawfish The Mr got 2 polos & the sales person advised us they supposedly will shrink quite a bit but we couldn't resolve ourselves to getting the next size up since the Mr was swimming in it.......so best just to wash only & hang dry There was a Mom & Son in there at the same time, who also opted for the size that fit as opposed to the larger size.....just hope we all don't get burned by not listening to the experts here! Walking through the plastic air curtain opened up to a shop that held so many fun patterns and a wide variety of colors! I hesitate to use the term "boutique" because Red Lantern seems more casual than that implies. There's no pretension, but plenty of whimsy. Service is equally relaxed but helpful. You won't feel pressured. Pricing isn't cheap, but it isn't outrageous either. The shirts I bought were reasonable, especially since I can't find the patterns anywhere else. My partner also found an amazing dress that I'm certain she'll enjoy for years to come. Red Lantern really seems like a hidden gem on Royal!
