These guys came recommended to me by another contractor I've hired previously. I called them about a very small job - move a light switch a few inches to the right. They said it was a quick job and they would come out for an inspection. They sent someone out who looked at it, confirmed it would be relatively quick, but that they were booked far out. I was extremely flexible, mentioning that I could wait quite a while, months even, if they were busy. I wanted to work with someone who was recommended to me. That's when POP Electric stopped returning my phone calls and emails (multiple of each). I understand if the job is small and not worth your time, but at least tell me you're unable to do it. Don't have me let you into my home, give up my lunch break just to have you ghost me. I ended up contacting another electrician who did the job. It was done in less than an hour. This was easy money, with the potential for more future work if it went well. I'm not sure why a company would turn that down. read more

My husband and I were interested in a home built in 1971 & of course it has aluminum wiring. We were told to contact P.O.P electric for a copalum connector repair bid and spoke with Darren. He came out & prepared a reasonable bid, which we used to reduce the price of the house & get our closing costs covered by the sellers. We were very impressed by his knowledge and trusted that he would help make our house safe. We confirmed over the phone that he would start work the week of August 31st. The week before I emailed with no response & left a voice mail message to confirm that we were all set to go, no response. I called Monday morning and received a text that he couldn't start today and would call me later in the morning. He never called. Next day my husband got on the phone Darren eventually & Darren said his guy never works on Monday & was all tied up, but would try to get him out by the end of the week. He said he'd update us the following day. He never called us back and then stopped answering our calls & emailed. Darren GHOSTED us!!! GHOSTED us!! I grown man stopped picking up the phone to avoid conflict and left us hanging out to dry. We have to pay an extra month in rent because of the set up. We first used POP Electric in 2010. Long story we have aluminum wiring in our house. We had used a local residential/commercial electrical contractor in late-2009 (won't say the name but it has a Lynnwood address), after buying the house, to 'remediate' the aluminum to copper interfaces (they used what's called 'pig-tailing' with a twist on connectors). The solution provided by the first electrical contractor was substandard and a huge safety hazard as we later discovered (we had 2 fires in electrical receptacles, which luckily we caught because we were home when they occurred). We set about to do our homework to better understand the solution that had been provided and what our alternatives were to fix it. The Consumer Product Safety Commission identified what had been provided by the first electrician as an 'emergency or temporary only' solution and laid out the options: a) remove the aluminum wiring entirely (would have been ~$40K + lots of drywall repair work) or to use a COPALUM repair method which permanently crimps the aluminum and copper wires together via a specialized tool and by electricians which have been specially trained (~$10K). We won't go into it, but after giving the first electrician all this information and many opportunities it we finally determined they were incapable and unwilling to fix their own work-product and we had to pursue legal avenues to deal with them. Sorry for all the back story but it's important in why we so highly rate POP. We set about to find an alternative electrician who a). was certified in COPALUM and b). who we could trust. POP was professional from the initial consultation on through the project itself which took 3 electricians about a week to complete. They took time to answer our many questions (believe me after going through an electrical house-fire you ask a lot of questions) and made sure what was being implemented was thorough (every single receptacle, light-switch, light and appliance). These guys have families and their own homes and they conveyed the importance to us of doing quality / safe work where once again we could feel safe in our own home. I can't say how important that aspect was for us. So, in late 2013 when we remodeled the master bedroom/bath there was only one electrician which whom we would consider working. And, that was a requirement as we interviewed general contractors. The work provided by POP was once again excellent. They're thorough, provide the right solution, always on time and they bring a high level of integrity to their craft. They will continue to be the only electrician we use in Seattle. The two workers from POP showed up on time in the morning and got to work right away removing then moving my outdoor power mast. They kept me informed of what they were doing such as when they would turn the power off. I had to go to work but when I got back home I found they did a good job with the setup and did not leave a mess behind. The price was competitive too. I would use them again for sure! read more

Really disappointed with this company, like another reviewer, they stopped returning our phone calls and would not pick up when they saw us calling. A job they said could get done within 3 weeks has now taken 4 months for us to finally give up and go with another company. Not only is it unprofessional, but also irresponsible since the work needing to be done was for safety reasons. It is not a small job, so we're completely baffled why they would walk away from a decent paycheck, no explanation, no reasons as to why they've just dropped off the planet. At least have the decency to say 'we are busy and can't fit you in' like other companies we've encountered, that's a 30 second conversation, instead of stringing your customers along and then not responding. read more

POP Electric came through for us twice in a week. We needed an electrician ASAP, we recently moved into a new home in Seattle and had to get some wire replaced due to rodent damage. Darren was amazingly accommodating to fit us into their busy schedule, as he knew the repairs would give us peace of mind moving into the new home with our 15 month old daughter. The electrician (Tim) was awesome, super friendly, explained what he was doing, and found additional damaged wire in addition to what was found in our home inspection report. I was super impressed with their efficiency, punctuality and overall customer service. After Tim completed all the wire repairs and had left for the day, I found another issue which i wish i would have seen when he was still at our house, I identified a damaged dimmer switch in our daughter's bedroom, which appears to have previously overheated, causing melting of the switch case, damaging all the insulation of the wires, which posed a fire hazard. We switched off the breaker, and that evening I emailed Darren letting him know what we had found. First thing the next day, i got a call from Darren letting me know he was trying to make room in the schedule, which he did and Tim came back the next day and re-wired our daughter's bedroom so we can all sleep safely. I can't say enough nice things about my experience with this company, Darren and Tim are stand-up people and they solidified me as a returning customer and advocate for them. I recently used Pop Electric in my home for redoing all my electrical in my kitchen. There was a lot to do, but the technician really knew his stuff and got the job done quicker than I expected. I wanted to add extra lighting and also have my lighting fixtures allocated to the right breakers as per code (because this is an older home I knew much of my wiring was incorrect and needed a pro to do it right). The technician was friendly and very helpful and took the time to answer all my questions. He also was patient in working with myself and my wife to help set the fixtures at just the right spot and height. These guys really know there stuff and really went out of their way to make sure my job was done right. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to anyone who needs and electrician. read more

They were on time (wow), solved the problem right away, and answered every question without making me feel less than intelligent. And the cost was less than I expected. Bad experience. They came out one day and did the work I asked them to do. Did a fine job, but didn't finish. I had to schedule for one more day of work but they failed to come out...twice. Then they wouldn't return my phone calls. After a few weeks of trying to get Darren, the owner, on the phone, I finally gave up. He just wouldn't return my phone calls. This is an extremely busy time for electricians and we've had significant difficulty finding service. The breaker to our hot water heater had some serious problem. This was a competent and reliable company under Chris Hill's ownership. I was completely satisfied with the electricians that he sent to my home to perform a variety of jobs. He no longer owns the company. When I called recently to arrange for repair or replacement of an attic ventilator, I accepted an appointment two weeks out. We agreed that the electrician would bring a replacement ventilator due to the age of the one that is no longer working. I called the morning before the appointment to confirm it. Then later in the day I listened to a voice mail from the new owner informing me that he could not obtain the ventilator. He had not ordered it during the two weeks I was waiting and had not even ordered it by the time I called to reconfirm the appointment. I called twice after that and he never returned my calls. I am now out looking for a new electrician. This is no longer the reliable company it once was. I would not recommend this business to anyone. read more
