I decided to go with Better Air NW, mainly because of their high yelp rating. Install did not go perfectly. I had concerns about excessive equipment noise. Justin (the owner) assured me that if it's not right, it's not done. Air pressure settings needed to be corrected. Due to the vibration, we unmounted the heat pump from the house. After that, it's been smooth sailing. They appear to have a strategy of cultivating customer satisfaction and confidence. If you're shopping around, these guys are a pretty safe bet.

Everyone has been really great to work with. May 2024 - I finally scheduled our annual maintenance. They sent James out. He was fantastic. A wealth of knowledge, polite and professional. I signed up for the annual maintenance plan to save money. He made good recommendations based on my needs and concerns of my allergies. Much appreciated! 2026 update - our heat pump stopped working and needed replacement parts. I paid for them to send a tech to diagnose it and they followed through with the work which is under the 10-year warranty. Tech, Hagen was very nice and professional and made sure to answer all of my questions. Kudos to the office staff, Brittny, Erin and everyone who took my calls while I was eagerly waiting for parts & repair. They treated me very kindly and proactively communicated each step of the way. I hope that this fix lasts a long time, or at least until we upgrade to a newer, more environmentally friendly unit.

They were absolutely amazing and answered the other hundred questions that I had throughout the day. Everything was very professional. They cleaned up everything very well when they were done you couldn't even tell they were there. I was very impressed with our experience with CM Heating and will definitely use them in the future for everything we need.

This time I shopped around and found a good rate from Skyline. Checked their business license, insurance, and LNI and they looked clean. So I gave them a shot. Scott came and spent about 2 hours working on our heat pump, furnace, and descaling our tankless water heater. He was very organized and had the right equipment for the jobs in his truck. Good sense of humor, but also good advice around how to best upkeep those systems in my house. I ended up getting a discount by purchasing this year's service and next year's together. Very happy with Skyline's work and look forward to using them for years to come.

I then asked if they could also quote me on routine maintenance for our furnace. They could have easily charged me for an added service, but told me they had a fall special for doing both jobs together that was $30 less than what they had quoted me for just the HVAC work! Says a lot about them, I think. Of course, it's the actual work that matters most. My service tech, Matt, called enroute and gave me an accurate time of arrival. He was very professional and even showed how to do periodic cleaning. He found a leak in our furnace that needed a small repair. He did the repair with no additional charge. This company is great. I've already put them in my calendar for next year's routine maintenance and I would definitely call them if I had any other issue before then.

We had them come out to just clean our dryer vent. They were here for 15 minutes total, never went…read moreinside to actually push the lint out of the vent. They only did the outside and when I asked him about going inside he said that is appliance issue. My husband ended up purchasing brushes on Amazon and cleaned the vent out from inside, which in turn made him have to clean it out from the outside again. Not to mention all the lint that it pushed through on the roof again. Very frustrating. I actually took a picture and emailed it to them with all the lint that was taken out but never got a response.

When our water heater failed, we contacted them again for a replacement and several electrical projects, including an EV charger installation. The salesperson who came to our home told us he could offer a particularly good deal and an additional 10% discount if work started immediately. Based on those representations, we signed the estimates and proceeded. Shortly after work began, we started researching the pricing and became concerned that the quoted costs were far higher than market rates. For example, we were quoted approximately $7,500 for a replacement water heater and installation. Our later research indicated the unit retailed for about $2,350, leading us to question the overall pricing. In total, Seatown's billings approached $17,000. Based on our own research and discussions, we believed a reasonable price for the completed work was closer to $8,500. We requested a detailed review of the charges before making additional payments. After discussions with Seatown, the company reduced the total cost by approximately $7,000. We ultimately paid about $8,500, including our down payment. We also discovered that a required electrical permit had not been obtained before work began. The permit was secured approximately one month after completion of the work. During the subsequent city inspection, the work initially failed inspection and required corrective action before ultimately passing. Our concerns were not with the workers themselves, who were generally professional and courteous. Rather, they involved the pricing, sales process, and permit handling. Based on our experience, we strongly recommend obtaining multiple bids, asking detailed questions about permits, and carefully reviewing pricing before signing any agreement. Doing so could save you thousands of dollars.

tldr - if it's related to HVAC, call the installer of your HVAC system if possible…read more I called Green Bear to take a look at an HVAC system (on second floor) that was leaking water on the 1st floor ceiling (due to AC condensation). They sent someone over, who didn't really open the HVAC system panel much. I didn't seem confident that this would fix it. But they recommended to fix the drain pan inside the evaporator coil box, which they said was much more expensive. For clearing the drain pipe and gluing a loose pipe, which didn't actually fix the main problem, they still billed me $300 - diagnostic fee ($99) + 1 hour ($199) - (there's a 3% credit card fee, but they accept checks) 4 or 5 hours later, there was dripping again. I ended up calling Bob's, they sent 2 technicians who knew what they were doing (they opened the panel properly), they found and fixed the issue - it did not involve replacing a drain pan. Bob's only charged me the diagnostic fee of $175 and did the job right (compared to $300 that Green Bear charged)

I had Firelight come out for an unusual reason: to determine if the masonry monstrosity in the…read morecenter of my home was an original thermal mass heating system, and IF SO, to check the chimney to determine if it is safe to use the firebox in the basement. I found the company to be very professional, all the way from first contact, several calls to schedule, and through to to arrival. The tech was on time and followed instructions to call 5-minutes out so I could corral my protective German Shepherd. The tech was impressively knowledgeable about ancient heating systems, and did a thorough inspection of the masonry and mortar on all three floors and gave me wise advice, which I very much appreciated. I was surprised the tech knew about thermal mass heating that was common in the 1800's to about the mid 1920's. I think he enjoyed getting an unusual service call. Nothing was broken, I just needed confirmation of my suspicion, a chimney/mortar inspection, and advice on safety. I had them do a full inspection on this...monstrosity. Note there is NO FIREPLACE--there has never been one, but there IS a firebox and clean out in the BASEMENT! SEE PHOTOS and descriptions for details. Turns out--this thing IS an original heating system from 1920. Thermal Mass. It was used by building a small hot fire in the basement firebox, load some coal, and let it go. The heat is captured in the brick and held like a battery, released over time. The main floor section is a SOLID MASS OF BRICK. There was never a fireplace there. When the fire burns down, the warm bricks give off heat on the main floor for 8-10 more hours. Thermal Mass Heating. --Rightly, I was advised it's not a good idea to use it, but in case of an emergency... I could. It will still work as intended and the chimney is safe for occasional emergency use. --Later, in the 1940's, someone tied into the flue on the main floor for a wood stove, then in the 1960's that was closed off when natural gas was installed, along with cast iron baseboards--heated by a gas boiler. Hydronic heat via cast iron baseboards is the Best Heat Ever. No blowing air. Just Warm, Penetrating Deep Warmth. Hydronic Radiant Heat heats OBJECTS, not air. THANK YOU FUSE!!!

Jumped on it, and Carrigan showed up on time, quickly diagnosed the issue and replaced the bad circuit breakers. All the labor was included in the cost of the visit and i had to pay for the new circuit breaker. Total cost we very reasonable. Highly recommend them.

The Facilities Office at Point Edwards, a condominium complex with 9 buildings and 261 units, had all of it's electronics using 1 outlet with multiple surge protectors and a jumble of cords plus a makeshift outlet not mounted to the wall close to the utility sink. When we would use the printer, monitors and lights flickered. It was a potentially dangerous situation that could have resulted in a power surge damaging electronics or even a fire due to overloading the circuit. Joe came out to give us an estimate and described the electrical situation as 'Spicy'. He sent us a most reasonable estimate, which was approved right away. Devin and John came out to do the electrical work. They were prompt, professional, friendly, and did the work with minimal interference to our workday. No more flickering, electronics are happy, and no more being nervous about splashing water at the sink. These guys hustled and cleaned up afterwards. We are now recommending Smart Electric to all of the residents at Point Edwards for any of their electrical needs and will certainly be using them for any future facility electrical needs. They installed a Generac generator at my mothers home in Sammamish which was a very difficult place to do so. They were very patient with us as we tried to find a location around the house that would meet sammamish codes and still not be a sour thum. It took several months to come up with the right spot, but eventually we got it done just before 3 winter storms took out power at my moms home three times in a row. My mom's neighbors had to wait for up to 3 days to get power back but my mother never lost power with her natural gas Generator. And then smart electric gave both my mother and I wonderful Christmas gifts . By the way, Joe, the owner and the electrician, at Smart electric showed extreme integrity. He would only do things the right way, no cutting corners. Joe also always returned our calls in a timely manner, even when he was on vacation. Use Joe for all your electrical needs. By the way I have 5 years experience as a maintenance manager at a 40,000 sqr foot manufacturing plant, with an electrical engineering degree and 13 years experience as a general contractor. I have been working with Smart Electric (SE) during my recent major home remodel which is now complete. I have worked with several electrical companies over the years, and SE is by far the best - made up of ethical, skilled and hardworking people. From day one, the entire SE team has been great to work with - always cheerful and sometimes funny (ha) they impressed me with their electrical capabilities. They offered suggestions to help modernize my home with things like cool pop up outlets, motion sensor lights, and security doorbells and cameras. I am indebted to them for discovering and repairing several potential electrical fire hazards. When SE says they'll be there, they show up; even when they are juggling multiple jobs, they somehow found the time to work me in to their schedules. I'm very glad I went with Smart Electric to fix our issue, involving outlets that were failing and power failures in a specific area of our home, even though the circuit breaker seemed okay. From the moment I contacted them I sensed professionalism, and immediately felt at ease. The person sent to fix the problem (Keith) was quick and thorough, and fixed the issue. When we experienced a similar issue some weeks later, same circuit, I called Smart Electric in a panic and they put Keith on the line, and we talked through it together. Keith remembered everything about my prior issue, including how the circuit in our home ran, and provided a solution I was able to complete on my own, saving me another visit and cost. He even let me know what I should do to ensure we don't have another issue down the road, based on the load our home is designed to take on that circuit. I've worked with Smart Electric a couple of times now, and they continue to impress. I initially reached out to have a new electrical plug installed at our place. The team was timely, friendly, and very clean with their work. What I appreciated most was that they didn't just "do the job", they took the time to explain why extending an existing outlet made more sense than installing a completely new one. That level of transparency and honesty goes a long way. Their communication throughout has also been excellent. On a separate issue, I reached out about some flickering lights. After a quick back-and-forth, I was able to troubleshoot it myself (turned out to be the bulbs), and they were completely supportive, no pressure to book a visit, just helpful guidance. Smart electric helped us a few years ago when the power feed into our house (breaker) blew. They were out to our house the next day and made a plan to replace the circuit breaker box while we were on vacation. They went through the house and turned off the unneeded breakers for safety. I just called today because we had some flickering lights and I was nervous that it indicated an electrical problem. I immediately got a phone apt. scheduled with Joe, the owner. In 10 minutes he explained to me that this was perfectly normal and safe. I appreciated that he spoke with me at no charge. Our service with this company was so great, I'm giving 5 stars on yelp and google! My parents moved into a lovely townhome with TERRIBLE lighting. So I bought my Mom a lovely chandelier to hang above her kitchen table. I called 3 other businesses with 0 reply I should also note all three didn't have a website or way to email. (These things matter while caring for small children). Smart Electric had an online form - quick, easy and confirmed I would hear back in a couple of days. We had a great experience with Smart Electric. Keith and crew helped us with a punch list and a few upgrades on our new home and were quick, but patient and thorough. We got an appointment on fairly short notice (and worked with our other vendors), the they showed up promptly and got the work done, and they also came back twice more to diagnose and address nuisance tripping issues we had after putting in our appliances. We needed help in correcting a stair lighting project that wasn't installed properly years ago. Joe and Gabe were able to figure out the circuits and switches in no time. From there, they were able to get the wiring cleaned up, the individual step lights connected and a low voltage transformer installed. The project was done quickly. Joe and Gabe were fun to visit with and informative about the work they did for us. The final cost was lower than the quote, which is always exciting. Well, wouldn't you know it -- his advice worked and saved me a lot of money. This is the kind of honest service that seems so rare these days. In my experience they've been very honest about how our system can best be served (including recommending solutions that are appreciably not the most expensive, based on our own priorities, which I appreciate), and have been flexible when work had to stop mid-way through a project due to unforeseen circumstances. When we found out that our exhaust wasn't exhausting, they were able to get a chimney person out the same day to get an assessment. I can't express how much I appreciate someone who knows when they've hit their technical limit and is willing to say "Let's bring someone else in". Can't express enough how grateful I am to have them around to help out. It's important to me that I have good people that do good work on a house I love dearly, and it's comforting to know my plumbing needs are able to be taken care of by people I trust. Their trip charge is 200, because they were great before and I was ok with that. But this time, not only it took them 2 visits (including a missed one) and a long time to give me a quote, but they gave me a ridiculous estimate that made me think they don't want this job. This is ridiculous so I have to go to others. All my 3 other quotes ( from other well reviewed companies) were like 600-1000 to replace the broken runs, but they quoted me something like 5000. So 2 star for previous good work, but they disappoint me this time.

This is a local family business, and the McFarland boys (John, Zach, Drew and Scott) replaced our ENTIRE system from the air handler and condenser to the electrical and refrigerant ducting. They were warm, genial, well mannered, and efficient.... but most importantly, extremely competent. They were also the only contractor I've ever had that didn't leave some amount of trash behind whether it be sections of electrical wires, hosing, or plastic wraps. It's as if they've never been here. Amazing. We chose them despite gotten a slightly lower quote from another installer who came highly recommended by our neighbor because McFarland Heating was willing to work with us on an very niche system replacement (my partner was particular about what he wants), while that didn't end up working out, the time we spent with them problem solving gave us a ton of confidence that they are dedicated to their work and we can trust them to do the job well. We are a household of engineers, and as far as we can tell, everything is installed to (or above) spec. I highly recommend McFarland Heating without reservation!

He acted professionally, and he even let me watch him install the new breakers. My only minor concern is he only hand tightened the screws "good and tight", instead of tightening them according to the 36(inch pounds) specification that was written on the breaker installation instructions, and on the new breakers themselves, when he installed the new breakers. Karlin said that this is the common practice among electricians and that very few, if any, bother to follow the inch pound torque standard when tightening circuit breakers. Also, it would have required use of a special expensive inch pound torque wrench that must undergo annual inspection and certification. (What a pay cut! Ouch!) These facts for now allay my concern enough that I can see myself hiring this firm again to do electrical work for me in the future. I say this especially since Karlin was an easy person to work with.
