Scoops N Such opened not long ago and on a recent Sunday the wife and I were looking for an afternoon snack and then realized "Wait! We haven't been to Scoops & Such yet!" It's a small, unassuming store front sandwiched between a nail place and a Domino's Pizza in the space that used to be Cookie Dough Bliss. The interior is cozy and as soon as you walk in you're greeted with the ice cream case, and, MAN, did all those flavors look awesome! The young lady behind the counter helped with our orders. I was compelled to try something new, so I went with a single scoop of blackberry ice cream with chocolate chips. I don't recall the name of it, but it was 100% surprisingly good! My wife knew what she wanted when she walked in the door: Mint Chip ice cream. I think she ranks ice cream places by their Mint Chip ice cream. There are 24 different flavors of home made ice cream and each looked really good. It was really hard to decide. The accent colors are a bit pastel, with a light teal being the primary color. There are a few seats for anyone who wants to eat in, and a child's table for the little ones. To my delight I see they also have malts (a chocolate malt will be my next visit), floats, and a number of specialty Sundaes. They also offer hand-packed pints of whatever ice creams they have in the case available for purchase. In fact, as we sat enjoying our ice cream the young lady was in the process of packing those very pints. Scoops N Such is nice, quaint, fun little place that got that old-time ice cream shoppe feel. It was later in the evening and empty at the time but the ladies treated us as if we were the first customers of the day. We got a small ice cream and fell in love with the ambience, cleanliness, and quality of the ice cream. So...we had to come back the next day but this time with our daughter. I zoned in on the Churros before snapping the pic but had to include it in the review. Just like the day prior, the staff was friendly, quality of the food was excellent and my favorite..the place was clean. Everything we got was absolutely delicious but I had to stop myself as overeating wasn't on my to-do list today. Would I recommend anyone to come check it out? Absolutely. Will I be back for more? Then one day I decided to try something local and found Uncommon Cups & Cones. What I expected was decent ice cream and the satisfaction of supporting a small business. What I got was better ice cream, bigger portions, lower prices, friendlier service, and a place my kids now ask to visit by name. Every visit feels like we're getting away with something. We spend less money than we did at the chain places, somehow leave with more ice cream, and the quality is better. I'm still trying to figure out how that math works. My kids absolutely love this place. They love the unique flavor names, they love the atmosphere, and they treat every visit like it's a special occasion. As a parent, that's worth a lot. What really separates Uncommon Cups & Cones, though, is the people. They were friendly from day one, but by our second visit they remembered us. In a world where it feels like most businesses barely acknowledge you're standing there, they make you feel like they genuinely appreciate you coming back. The shop has personality. The ice cream is fantastic. The prices are fair. The portions are generous. The staff is incredible. This is exactly the kind of local business people say they want to support.
