I used to love love coming to Popbar at the Packing District. My boyfriend & I had picked up some dinner to-go at the Packing District & I wanted him to check this place out for the first time. What we ordered: I ordered the Pineapple & half chocolate bar & my BF ordered the Mango & chilly powder. I thought my pineapple & half chocolate bar was okay, but it seemed like it only had a hint of pineapple. My BF thought the same thing for his Mango bar. The bars seemed watered down in my opinion. I went on a Saturday and Popbar didn't open till noon, while most other places were open before that. Order at the register. No private seating for this place. I got a lychee strawberry heaven, which is an Italian soda with boba. $4.50 at the time and I think it's 16 oz. Really good and refreshing! However, I was expecting the tapioca type chewy boba. It's not like that. I think the term is "exploding" boba. The inside of the boba had liquid. Kinda visually and texturally reminded me of salmon eggs that I fish with, which was a turn off. I remember that we tried Popbar at Westfield Santa Anita mall long time ago so I'm glad that we saw popbar again in Anaheim Packing House. This was one of the bars on the menu, but you can also make your own bar by choosing your own base and toppings. Service: Service was very quick! Parking: There is a small parking lot attached to the packing district. There is no parking fee and many available parking spots in the lot. COVID: There are security guards to maintain social distancing and wearing masks. There are also many hand sanitizing locations throughout the packing district. Outdoor seating is also available if desired! Overall, I really liked Popbar. Sad to say, but I was not very impressed. The non-dairy pop bars were pretty limited in choice but I was excited to see an Açaí Sorbetto on the menu. Sadly, it did not taste fresh at all. It tasted as though it had been in the freezer for weeks and the texture was pretty awful. It broke off in chunks revealing some big ice crystals throughout the bar and even after 15 minutes on a warm day, it had barely softened at all. I'm was expecting a fresher pop that starts to become softer and melt as time goes by. The flavor was also fairly bland for something that's normally much more flavorful at similar places. **Edit** I'm bumping this up from my initial review for the service. The owner reached out to me after midnight to follow up on the review and explain that all of their pops are made fresh. That level of attention really shows how much this owner cares about their business and how their customers view them. To me, that alone makes a huge difference. I absolutely LOVE popbar! Back in 2015, popbar was THE THING to get and take pictures of because of the signature half dip and drizzle and ever since, it has been living in my head rent free! They open a little later (12PM) than some of the other locations at the packing district (which opens at 11) but we timed it perfectly to eat lunch and then get it for dessert!
