Tocumbo Ice Cream is my go to spot when I want something fresh on a hot day. Their quality is excellent and the staff is so pleasant. They're willing to make adjustments to their menu items to fit your liking. Today my husband asked for a fruit cup and asked if they could add cueritos to it. They didn't hesitate, even though that item isn't listed on their menu that way. I love their paletas. They have a great mix of paletas with a water base or milk base. My favorites are the jamaica, fresa de agua, and nuez. Today, I tried their regular diablito which is two scoops of nieve de limon, chamoy, and tajin. She let me switch out one scoop for mango so I could try a different flavor. Both ice creams flavors were great but I was partial to the mango one. Seating inside is limited so you'll likely need to take your treats to go. We always take them anyway because it can get a little noisy and overwhelming inside, especially when there's a lot of people. They also offer a variety of other snacks and desserts. Was told I'd be helped and waited in line while they watched new customers come walk in and helped them out before me for 10 minutes. Allowed customers to cut in front and got help before me as I was told to wait for them to be done even though I was standing in line first. Asked if I wanted lechera on my raspado as it normally comes then tried to charge me for EXTRA lechera. So, I let them know I wouldn't want the lechera if it was extra (which it normally isn't anywhere) and they told me they were already making it so they would not remake it, not take it off, and always charge for it even though it wasn't stated and offered to me. read more

My family and I were in town today visiting both my brother in law and mother in law celebrating Mexican Mother's Day, having an early dinner next door. **August 2024: Saturday Afternoon Visit** I wasn't in California very much this summer, but when I was it was HOT and I was melting. During one of the weekends it was high 80s and I could feel my body roast in my outfit. My friend and I decided to leave the convention early to search for something to cool us down. Tocumbo came up as a close by option (about 10 minutes away / less than 3 miles) so we decided to check it out. The shop is located in a small shopping plaza behind a Mexican restaurant. I had no difficulty finding parking on a Saturday afternoon. When we entered we saw a number of hispanic patrons which was a que to me that this was would be an authentic cultural experience. The first fridge had a number of colorful fruit popsicles. It was very tempting but I was in the mood for something creamy. The second and third fridge had large buckets of ice cream but with a lot of unique flavors. I decided to do two scoops - one Mexican Hot Chocolate and one Strawberries with Chocolate chips and wow it was exactly what I needed. It was creamy and kind of had a fluffy texture, but it was nice and cold. There are only two or three tables inside so it's an intimate space, but I would absolutely love to come back and try more sweet treats. Two thumbs up! read more

OMG the paletas were to die for and when I brought some home, the fiance-and now-husband was impressed too. Needless to say, as ice cream lovers, we decided to retain Tocumbo as our wedding dessert vendor. Ricky, Jenny, and Ericka were excellent throughout the planning process and on the day of. They were professional, responsive, and very friendly and easygoing. We even got to come back to the store to pick up some leftover ice cream from our wedding! All of our wedding guests, including some super particular relatives and our parents (oh and our ring bearer) were in love with the paletas too. They have become our (and many of our family and friends') go-to ice cream shop.
