Came to this establishment my whole life never had a problem until I came in an older Asian man asked me if I needed help I said yes I said can I switch out this perfume that I grabbed the wrong one as you can see I bought two perfumes I assume both were the same since they were both in the same column inside the store before purchasing as I purchased the item there was another perfume on the counter that the cashier must've mixed up I'm not sure but the man proceeded to say that I use the perfume and it was final sale I bought one for Mother's Day so my mom could use on her dogs items once I realized it was the wrong perfume color as my mother opened the box she did did not spray anything . This man was very rude about this and didn't offer anything other than an attitude I am not coming back to the establishment or spending any of my money here I am a cosmetologist as well and I spend hundreds a month here. All the younger workers are so respectful but once it comes to the older men I don't understand. read more

Living on Long Island is always hard finding a beauty supply store that sells the hair or product you are looking for. I have been patronizing this business for little over a year now and I'm so glad I have. For a while I would commute to Queens and Brooklyn to get the hair I need and now I don't have to plan when I'm going to buy hair. I have never had bad customer service from here, everyone is always great. Omg!! I have arrived at the Mecca!!!!! This shop blew me away!! I walked in expecting some little hole in the wall NYC type wig shop but I was so wrong. The store is absolutely huge! They have every single beauty supply you would ever need! Their selections of wigs and extensions are fantastic. All the staff that I encountered was so friendly and knowledgeable. I was a little intimated at first by the fact of the staff was mostly men but once I started a conversation with Sam there was no turning back! He was so sweet and took his time explaining things to me. The reason for my visit was just to buy extensions (it was my first time buying them) but I found a wig that I fell in love with and I couldn't leave without it! 12/6/2020 MISSION:First time wig shopping for my Mom who is losing her hair for no apparent reason. She's been VERY concerned about it, asking every doctor she sees, despite the fact her world is closing in in her. She's practically blind. Her hearing aids haven't worked in a year...well, I could go on about what a HORRIBLE year this has been for her, but we are all suffering our own particular forms of hell so I won't. Except I will say that us kids were surprised to hear our Mom was worried about her hair with EVERYTHING ELSE that she'd been through. She was NEVER a vain person, though always a stunning beauty...so ya, we were surprised, at this late stage of her life, when she couldn't even see herself in a mirror very well, that it would mean so much. IT DID. Here's just a little bit of what she's been through-a broken femur meant she had hip replacement. Cataracts surgery so now she can see a little even though she has macular degeneration. New hearing aids, after new molds taken (weight loss meant old ones didn't fit) and new technology meant after an entire year she can finally hear. So...it was time, for what might seem trivial to you or to us kids, to go on the MISSION: shopping at POPCORN for a wig for Mom. A very kind & knowledgeable gentleman helped me choose this pixie wig for my 85 yr old Mom. She's gotten through it ALL with amazing strength and grace. Who would have thought his little $30 pixie wig would have done SO MUCH to cure my Mom's "headspace"?? We seriously had no idea how serious it an effect it was as having on her. LOOK AT HER NOW! Obviously it was having a MUCH GREATER effect than anybody knew. She's is so very HAPPY and has her MOJO( MOm JOlliness) back! HER SMILE SAYS IT ALL! Bring on 2021! Huge selection of hair extensions, wigs and beauty supplies. There are about 6 aisles of extensions alone. All price ranges therefore something for everyone. I posted another review that I have a place right around the corner but the owner lady is always pushing higher priced items which I hate. So I drove the extra 30 miles here during rush hour, staring into the glaring setting sun, fighting Long Island traffic. I was so enjoying wandering around, lingering in the aisles, without being pressured. It was just so thrilling to be able to have so many supplies in one place. I'd say the store is the size of a large TJMaxx . It could be heaven for any girl. All I kept thinking was I cannot wait to come back tomorrow (on my day off) and really spend some time here. I only had about 20 minutes as I had to be back home to take my man to the dentist. I was on supercharge. This is long but wanted to get all the details in: I say it could be Heaven and anyone reading my reviews can see I usually give 4 or 5 stars...but...I hate when I find a place that rubs me the wrong way. I will start by saying I understand Men are not big shoppers and therefore might wonder why a girl is spending "so much time" (15 minutes is apparently an extremely long duration) wandering around in awe. He should spend 6 hours with me at the Mall. So before I go on I will give him that. Perhaps he just doesn't get it: Bless his heart. Now granted they may have experienced some theft because there were several people manning the door....as I got closer to the front, each time, someone was always asking if I needed help and not in a salesperson way. There were actually like 3 people guarding the front area which was slightly creepy.. I was starting to wonder about the safety of this place. I disregarded it quickly though , as they didn't try to push any items... nothing was bringing me down at this point. Until... one of them actually got annoyed with me. He was all, "Can I help you find something?" in a whiny voice as he waved his hand to the other guy as if to say what is this woman's problem? He sounded very frustrated and if I were any closer I think I would've seen spittle in the corner of his mouth. I am not an overly sensitive person but I was in a rush (my bad of course but I don't think that is against any shopping laws) and already frustrated that I couldn't spend an hour here. I guess I was slightly taken aback when he was so appalled with my lack of determination to find my item and leave. Does he know what kind of store this is? Was he thinking he owned a hardware store? I am pretty sure this was the owner because I heard him in the back giving orders to some saleslady. Normally this wouldn't bother me and I would just think what a Freak. But I was scouting out my trip there for the next day when I had off. The ENTIRE day. As I shopped I wandered around thinking there is nothing else I want to do on my day off. This is it, I have found it. Well the little guy burst my fantasy bubble. If he couldn't stand 15 minutes of me today what would he do tomorrow?!? So I am struggling as to whether making the truck back there when I can just go to the other annoying place right up the street. I have a pretty large list of things I need and plan on spending about $200 so what surprised me is how these store owners think being snotty benefits them. I was dressed nice and did buy about 5 items so it's not like I was some homeless person in there just trying to keep warm. Not that there is anything wrong with that but he seemed to take issue with it. Lastly, I am wondering if this is a trend with privately owned "wig stores". I wish Sally Beauty had more supplies as they are much more professional and seem to appreciate your business while not treating you like a thief. So I give him the "Man who hates shopping" excuse but he chose to open a predominantly female geared business; hence the huge room/back wall of women's wigs. You would think he could try to understand his customer. Open a tool store or an Auto Supply store if you don't like that women want to linger and daydream. If I go back I will bring a friend just so I can be more confident in my "Back off and let me shop" look. Not that he will care as he probably makes most of him money from salons. Major Con and reason for only 3 stars: The owner does not want you to spend more than 10 minutes in his store and you must know exactly what you want. No fantasy daydreaming allowed. read more

Cons: It's true that the store has really poor customer service and I have shopped here for over 15 years because of​ the limitation in beauty supply stores in this area. They make shopping here very uncomfortable and the few times they have been nicer in service it seemed insincere. Pros: They have expanded over the years and have an eclectic variety of hair supplies and hair extensions. But due to my displeasure in going in store and the price range I've found a better solution for me is buying hair online from reputable sites like www.thebarcollection.com which has AMAZING quality hair for a more affordable price. I have a beautiful collection of wigs now that I've made for myself from the bar collections bundles. I still on occasion​ shop at Popcorn for supplies such as creams and shampoos/conditioner, etc. but also might start ordering in bulk at www.amazon.com. Hey, what can I say? Nobody follows me like a shoplifter but they do ask me often if I need any assistance. I find all the associates to be super friendly. My sister bought a wig on display that she fell in love with however it did not come with a box. I went back into Popcorn the next day to find out the brand for the instructions to care for the wig & of course to buy another one, from Popcorn. I came in and asked the kind customer rep. who knows I frequently come in EXCLUSIVELY ONLY TO POPCORN, and directs me to the person who sold my sister the wig and was the floor person Sunday March 1, 2015. The floor person did not want to help and refused to help me as this was his similar attitude towards us the day prior when my sister bought her wig. After 10 minutes of trying to get this information to no avail, I resorted to ask the owner but was unable to assist us because she was busy doing her numbers which is understandable. She pays this man/ customer service rep, to service the customers. I was trying to ask for someone else to assist me and the same rude man/ customer service rep comes out of nowhere, starts cursing at me and flips me the bird! The man/customer service rep.then proceeds to look at me up and down like if he was going to hurt me! My son who was with me felt threatened that he felt compelled to protect me from the reps aggressive disposition! Because of this, the kind customer reps/man comes to try to help me and the older little Asian guy comes over and tells him that he can't help me! He pushed the kind customer rep. embarrassing him! The kind rep. knows that I am a regular at this establishment and wanted to keep my business but wasn't allowed to. I vowed never to go back again and I was given a F*** You on the way out by this older little Asian guy. They do have a variety of good products, but the customer service is terrible. This place literally has walls and walls of hair! Every type of extension in so many lengths and colors and so many wigs, toppers, ponytails, and pieces...it was a bit intimidating for me because I've never used any type of hair enhancements before. But, I asked one of the guys up front for help and he walked the store with me, helped me find the perfect shade and length of clip-in extension, showed me a video of how to put them on, and even helped he find some products for my natural hair--so helpful and so pleasant! This is such an awesome beauty supply. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. I was looking for a certain wig and the guy behind the counter found something similar but it didn't have a part! He said I can give it a part if that's what you want. You just have to pay for the wig first. That's just what I did! I love it. I blended my own hair. He put a side part with clips and it looked great. While I waited I picked up black soap, raw Shea butter, a shaver for my husband, a blow dryer, a titanium flat iron and some great natural hair care products that don't have alcohol in them (remember to read your labels ladies). I always go there for my braiding hair .. they have reasonable price .. I like to go there also for my hair oil they always have unique oil .. I like to try new stuff .. they literally have everything .. all the hair product you need all the braiding hair and weave I mean everything ... this is the place to go for your hair stuff ... my only issue is one time I saw this cute purple braiding wig I wanted to buy it .. WARNING TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE*** Long story short: I'm a hairdresser and makeup artists, so I'm always looking for beauty shops for wigs, makeup, eyelashes, hair color and what not. Someone told me about popcorn in islip so I take a drive. As I walk in I walk up to the counter and ask the RUDE Latina girl working there if they have "colored contacts" MY MISTAKE I asked her for the contacts and she gave me a look of disgust. I was so shocked. She didn't say anything she just pointed to them and continued talking to her friend. My boyfriend urged us to leave bc he felt the tension. But I needed the contacts. Unfortunately I'm extremely sensitive sometimes and have to know the ingredients of contacts. The box didn't have any. So what do I do, I asked the rude girl. She snapped at me, shes like "I don't understand what is your question" (if looks could kill) I only need the ingredients I have issues sometimes with contacts I just need to read the back I told her. Then some Asian guy bursts through our conversation and he looked even more mad then the Latina girl. HIS EXACT WORDS: "what the does she want???? *huge sigh* as if I upset him for asking a question. And then he rude fully said "your gonna have to call the company" I was so annoyed at the TERRIBLE attitudes that were given to me as "customer service" another issue I had is that the kept following me around as if I was going to steal and they made it so obvious. Popcorn has been my go to store for hair supplies and etc. They have good prices and variety of everything. My only issue with this place is the workers.. they seem very unfriendly and unwelcoming. I could be in a aisle going back and forth figuring out where is something at and there is no worker in site walking around asking if anybody needs help. I feel as a customer I should be comfortable shopping and know if I need help its there. As well as your cashiers they too are unfriendly, no smiles or greets or asking if I was able to find what I needed today. The owner of this place needs to hire employees that want to work and help people not look at them feeling unwelcoming. Popcorn needs to clean house with the workers they have. Popcorn has truly upgraded. I am so thankful. I remember when this store was a few doors down from its current location & literally only one person at a time can fit in the aisles. This larger location offers everything we need regarding hair care. From budget friendly items, to "behind the glass case items LOL. What a difference! I frequent here because of its wide variety of supplies. Natural girls!!! Popcorn has EVERYTHING we need or want! I go nuts trying not to buy everything in sight! The store is extremely organized. The staff are all friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and professional. What else can I say? I doubt I will ever stop shopping here. For black hair care products, Eastern Long Island can be disappointing. I travel 20 minutes to get here if I cannot stop before or after church. (My church is around the corner).
