This place can get pretty busy during the holidays so I definitely recommend making a reservation! We got a half order of onion rings (they're HUGE!) and the seafood bruschetta for our appetizers. Pro tip: order the pepper jelly to dip the bruschetta in, you won't regret it. The steaks were cooked perfectly and I definitely recommend the garlic mashed potatoes! This place is moody and cozy, perfect for a date night or a girls night out

My dad specifically requested eating dinner here to celebrate his birthday. It feels like you're driving in the middle of nowhere to get to this place with cattle and cornfields surrounding you, but once you've made it, it's hard to miss! The inside of the restaurant is dark and rustic. My family of four was sat at a spacious corner booth in the back of the restaurant. Service was perfect. If you've heard about Popeye's, you've probably heard about their onion rings. Just get them... trust me. I don't even like onion rings, but these are truly something special. My family shared a half order, which was still a massive portion. I love that the onion isn't super stringy and that the breading doesn't fall off. We also shared an order of toasted ravs for an appetizer. Our meals came out with a complimentary basket of bread and butter. We all got side caesar salads with our meals. My dad and sister both ordered steak. My mom had chicken and fries. I had pasta con broccoli with chicken and a sweet potato on the side. You won't believe the absolutely gigantic portion sizes. It's safe to say that I had enough leftovers for multiple meals the rest of the week. Our server asked if we were celebrating anything, and since it was my dad's birthday, they brought out a complimentary slice of cheesecake with a handwritten birthday message. Popeye's Chop House is a gem!

Best meal ever!! Popeye's atmosphere was great, it was packed with the tables full constantly. Lots of conversations and laughter with everyone enjoying their meals. Our food was delicious from the appetizers all the way through to the desserts. Our server - Greg, is wonderful!!! He knows the menu so well and is kind. Asked what we were celebrating ( 39 years of marriage) he made it so special. I'll ask for Greg any time we go back.

As I was finishing g my second tour at Scott AFB, I received recommendation after recommendation about Popeye's Chop House. I finally had the chance to go after a ceremony that brought many former unit members to town. The restaurant takes me back to a simpler time where the basics are delivered with excellence in a simple atmosphere and that's what makes it special. I knew I needed to pull on my big boy britches and dig deep to make sure I experienced Popeye's at its best. We shared the onion rings which were out of this world and I settled on the 16 oz. Ribeye which came out perfectly cooked and tasted like beef is supposed to taste. I am glad I finally got to visit Popeye's and despite the waitress being a little weeded I our large group it 100% lived up to the hype!

Our dinner group made the trip from Belleville and had a great time. 10 of us ate like kings and queens. Great service and even better steaks. Make the trek and enjoy.

We hosted a dental society meeting in Popeye's back room. Our service was absolutely incredible! The room was set up to perfection, water glasses never empty, and food was delicious as always. The back room is super cozy with w a fire place & antler chandelier. Easily our favorite venue! Thank you, Popeye's for your excellent service & attention to detail!

Do you need reservations for 6 adults and 3 small children on a Saturday evening?

I would definitely make a reservation. They usually have a full house.

It was a special night, a group of foodie friends got together after not seeing each other for a while. It was a group of 11 and the accommodations and service couldn't have been better. Our server was extremely professional and didn't mind that it was 6 different checks. As our server was telling us the Daily Specials and the Catch of the Day, I immediately knew what I wanted. Whenever I hear, Pan Seared Sea Scallops or anything with Scallops, I'm sold. My scallops (4) were huge and the Risotto that they were served on was moist and flavorful. I also learned that they offer half bottles of wine and one of them is my favorite. I love, Quilt Cabernet Sauvignon. I'm probably going to wine hell because I paired it with my seafood instead of a white wine. Also, I want to give a shout out for their, Crab Stuffed Mushrooms. I've been known to stop by and have them and a Martini and call it a meal. When: February 19, 2026 Why: Meeting up with friends

We walked in and grabbed a seat in the bar area. The bartender was fantastic! She was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. We started with a round of drinks and the Toasted Raviolis. My friend was impressed with them! For dinner, I ordered the Steak Modiga with a loaded baked potato. The steak was cooked to perfection, and the modiga sauce was delicious with all the provel, prosciutto, and mushrooms that covered the steak evenly. The loaded baked potato was hot and filled with all the goods including cheese and bacon. My friend got the ribeye with the loaded baked potato, and it was just right for him. I decided to end the evening with another Tito's and lemonade instead of dessert. Overall, we had a wonderful time at Carnivore. It's a fantastic local spot on The Hill that I'll definitely be returning to again and again! If you're looking for a place to host a small event, Carnivore has a great spot upstairs called The D'Amici Room. It can hold up to 100 people and was amazing to work with for a Buffalo Trace event in October 2025.

The dinning room wasn't very full but when they seated us they took us to what used to be a patio. Now it's enclosed and there is a bar a stage and plenty of seating. My problem was the fans that were blowing made it difficult to have a conversation with my wife across the table. I told the server it was almost too noisy and was having a hard time hearing him talk. He said he'd talk louder. That didn't really fix the problem. Not real sure why we were seated in this area because the dinning room had plenty of space. We had a little trouble communicating our order because of the noise. As I stated a couple times to our server. I communicated I have trouble hearing in areas like this and he just kept talking louder. Anyway we finally got our food ordered and went for a salad in the next room. My wife even commented on the empty tables and asked my why I thought they put us in that big room. Idk? So we get our salad and it was good. Kretzers had a decent salad bar. One of the reasons we like the place. I ordered a 12oz ribeye rare with a baked potato. Wife got chicken strips with gravy and mashed potatoes and gravy. When the food arrived everything looked good and the server said some things that I have no idea what. Even the wife didn't know. I go to open the butter for my pita and it's not butter. It's an oil whip. I do not eat fake butter. It's harmful. To find out they have no butter in the place. So I tell my server of the situation and looks at me like he has no idea what to do. Turns and walks away. So I eat my steak and stare at the baked potato. I am a recent cancer survivor and have no ability to make saliva. So I needed the butter to make the potato edible. Or even gravy or something. I told the server but I don't think he heard me correctly or didn't know what to do. It was so loud with the stupid fans. So while I do recommend Kretzers and like their steaks and crab legs and salad bar. I don't recommend their new addition to dine in. And if you want real butter bring your own. I was a little disappointed with our experience this time around.

Good experience but a little underwhelming given hype and price point…read more My husband and I had been excited to try Hamilton's given our love of steakhouses and interest in trying some special bourbons. Service: We were sat in the Bourbon room, I'm not sure I'd choose this again. There are 6 tables in there and the waiter has to go very far to get to the kitchen. We never saw him not moving but it seemed that all 6 of the tables were in a similar place of ordering good and drinks with two large groups. This meant we often had to wait awhile to place orders, get food and drinks and bread, had to ask a couple time for somethings. Perhaps better experience in main dining room where the waiters may be less hard worked or better if they staggered out the reservations in this room more. Our waiter was nevertheless very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Drinks: We were very excited about the bourbon list, particularly the reserve bourbons. First, husband got the Garrison Brothers Single Barrel and me an Old Forrester 1920 in a mint julep. One disappointing thing for that was that the reserve bourbon pour was served in a huge glass with full to top with several restaurant standard ice cubes -- this meant the first sip was fantastic of this great bourbon but very soon the bourbon was very watery. We were shocked for a place like this to serve a high quality bourbon this way, often we enjoy this with one large square ice cube. Our next pour we got neat, which is what you need to do here. My mint julep on the other hand was great! Next we tried Blanters neat and Duckhorn from the Coravin system. Food: For the food we ordered the scallops to start, Hamilton farm greens, wedge salad and porterhouse to share with twice backed potato and seasonal vegetable. Potato bread was also provided with a garlic butter, it was delicious. Finished with a cheesecake. Everything was pretty good, nothing blew me away. Bread may have been my favorite given its uniqueness as a potato bread. The porterhouse was cooked fairly differently throughout the meat ranging from medium rare to well done, may be a challenge inherent to porterhouses. Twice baked potato was good and reminiscent of home cooking. Cheesecake was a nice finish with Dubai chocolate inspired toppings.
