This place is amazing! It's unassuming, a large home turned into an outstanding steak house. Our most recent visit was with our four grown children and spouses. We were immediately seated on the far large screen porch type room. We've sat in each of the others which are more intimate. We were worried at first it would be loud but it ended up being great for our large group. We all ordered drinks-- I had the peach sangria, but everyone loved their cocktails, wine, or martinis. Bread came out quickly and we were able to order. Our salads and soups were great, most got the Caesar or the French Onion soup. The majority of us ordered steaks, but my husband got the Alaskan halibut (excellent) and my DIL, the falafel. The steaks were absolute perfection! Everyone was so pleased and no one could finish it all. We were celebrating 2 birthdays, and chose the Lemon Gooey Butter Cake. OMg. So good! Our service was great, thanks to Abby! At my most recent visit, I did two things that I have never done at Moussalli's. First, I sat at table instead of the bar and second thing is that I did not order a steak. It was a special night, a group of foodie friends got together after not seeing each other for a while. It was a group of 11 and the accommodations and service couldn't have been better. Our server was extremely professional and didn't mind that it was 6 different checks. As our server was telling us the Daily Specials and the Catch of the Day, I immediately knew what I wanted. Whenever I hear, Pan Seared Sea Scallops or anything with Scallops, I'm sold. My scallops (4) were huge and the Risotto that they were served on was moist and flavorful. I also learned that they offer half bottles of wine and one of them is my favorite. I love, Quilt Cabernet Sauvignon. I'm probably going to wine hell because I paired it with my seafood instead of a white wine. Also, I want to give a shout out for their, Crab Stuffed Mushrooms. My wife and I made 4:00 pm reservations for Moussalli's Prime for our 35th wedding anniversary. Neither one of us had been there before but saw it had high reviews. All I can say is WOW! We asked for the back enclosed outdoor room. Started off with fresh bread, which was delicious. Next I had oysters Rockefeller which was fantastic! Next I had French onion soup which was also to die for, then prime rib with a loaded baked potato. My wife had a filet and mixed veggies which she thought were cooked perfectly. When the meal was complete our waitress brought out a piece of ooey gooey cake with apples and a caramel sauce for our anniversary. Wanting to enjoy a nice evening outdoors, we recently visited Moussalli's Prime and opted for a table on their patio. It was the perfect setting for a relaxed dining experience. We started with a few oysters that set the tone for the meal. I went with a ribeye while my wife chose the salmon, which was well-prepared. We were eager to try a new place in Edwardsville, but (perhaps snow related) we found it to be closed on a Friday night. Scanning options on Yelp (of course!) we thought maybe we could sneak into a couple of bar seats at Moussalli's. Hey, a guy can dream... Indeed, it was absolutely packed. However, we were so impressed with the hostess- she amazingly found us a table after a short wait. Service was excellent (attentive but not pushy, knowledgeable, courteous). We both had a glass of nice red tailored to our meals (NY strip for me, beef fettuccine for my wife). Really the whole experience was wonderful- service, food, ambience all top notch. We've been to all the steak places around the metro east and this is hands down our favorite. Will be back (soon!) and with a reservation haha:) read more

We stopped there for dinner on our way to a work event. So glad we did! Very nice restaurant, with indoor and outdoor (covered / heated) seating. Family owned (3 brothers) - great service from the host to the waitress to the buss boy as well as one of the owner who took us to our table. Food was great, and this was probably one of the best burgers I had in a very long time! Lots of food though so I regrettably had to leave most of my fries, but I was very sad about it because they were delicious! Live music for part of the meal. I discovered this wonderfully remodeled staple of southern Illinois steak houses about a couple years ago. Serving Niman ranch steaks aged for 6 weeks before serving it's as good a steak as you will find anywhere even near St. Louis. Always a great place for an exceptional occasion, but also a for daily dining experience. They have a great day to day menu and specials. "Prime" is the highest grade of beef, and is what you're going to get at Moussalli's. I've been here three times and the meals are consistently exceptional. The filet mignon is the best I've ever had; even a nudge better than Annie Gunns (thought I'd never say that!). This place is always busy, nonetheless service is excellent and accommodating. I on the other hand has the Saffron Risotto with shrimp, crab and topped with halibut, Greek salad. Being my birthday I was presented a slice of their fantastic flourless chocolate cake. My husband and I enjoy going to Moussalli's - our favorite place to sit is in the bar area. There is a two top at the end of the bar that is perfect for us, but if that isn't available, any table in the bar will do. We have been twice in the last two weeks and have been waited on by Danielle - she's great!! Zach the bartender made some killer old fashioned's with Moussalli's Yellowstone Barrel pick bourbon!! What a great restaurant. We sat out on the patio and it was a beautiful night for a nice relaxing dinner. We probably spent 2 1/2 hours there with friends eating and talking. We had reservations and we were immediately seated. They immediately gave us waters and some bread for the table. The waiter then took our drink order. They have a really good drink and wine list. I started with the Amalfi Coast drink and loved it. Once we had our drinks he asked about appetizers. We got the Pesto Arrancini and they were good. Not too much pesto. We munch on those awhile and never felt rushed. After that we got our dinner. The main dishes come with a salad/soup and a side. I got the filet and it was delicious!!! I got the French Onion soup and it was really good too. And if you like fries you have to get them. Overall a really good experience. Where do I begin?! Beautiful. quaint, family owned and operated restaurant. One of THE BEST steak dinners that I have ever had in my life. The desserts were phenomenal, our group tried them all. Service was top-notch and one of the owners made our day by welcoming us and spending time at the table sharing the family's legacy at Moussalli's. It was a great experience, I totally recommend it. Tonight I had the pleasure of dining at Moussalli's for the first time and let me say that we will definitely be back!! From the service, to food, to atmosphere, everything was way beyond our expectations. We had the pleasure of Christian serving us and he was extremely helpful, attentive, kind, and well knowledgeable in the menu! Despite it being clearly very busy we didn't lack in service at all. The food was wonderful including my vegetarian meal that they customize to your liking (probably one of the best I've had at any restaurant!) I was nervous not being a meat eater that I was going to a steakhouse with my family but I would go again just for that. Oh and don't even get me started on the oysters Rockefeller (I eat seafood once in awhile) they were AMAZING.... So much so that one order was not enough and we had to stop the bidder to ask our server to ring in more... I could come back and eat 12 of those on my own lol. Moussalli's Prime quickly became my favorite restaurant on the IL side and with very good reason! I'm actually shocked that I somehow haven't written a review. Complete blasphemy! Where do I even start? Their salads are a gift from the Heavens. The garden salad has preserved lemons and homemade ranch- so good. I'm not a big Caesar salad fan, but their's is beyond. But, the best salad there is asking them to mix the feta salad with the Caesar to create a dreamy, creamy, salty amazing beauty of a salad! I literally crave this salad on a weekly basis and order it every single time I visit. Next up, the best burger I've ever tasted. The beef is divine, the crispy havarti cheese goes perfectly, and the garlic Mayo is superb. When I had my first bite, I about died at how good it was and literally told everyone I knew and now they are also obsessed. Their garlic parmesan fries are also crispy, garlicky perfection. I dip them in the garlic Mayo. Their lettuce wraps are the bomb and such a welcome lighter alternative for lunch with so much flavor! For appetizers, I have had the crab meat in butter (insanely delicious), crab stuffed mushrooms, pork belly, and fried pickles and all are great! My fave would be the crab stuffed mushrooms if I had to choose one. Now, onto dinner. I have had the ribeye several times and it is divine! Amazingly seasoned, perfectly marbled as a ribeye should be, and the seasoning is perfection. Cannot recommend it enough and it can easily be shared with two people. I highly recommend it. I have also had scallops here and they were also fantastic! You seriously can't go wrong. Finally, their cocktails should not be missed. They have tiki cocktails including a painkiller that is so refreshing, delicious, and fun to look at! They also make a mean dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives and they have an entire menu dedicated to hand crafted cocktails. For special occasions they bring out a chocolate torte and it is so luxurious and smooth. Such a nice and yummy touch. The service is always upstanding as well. We haven't been disappointed. I used to work with the owners wife and let me tell you- we've been wanting to go here since Moussalli's opened! I wish we wouldn't have waited so long. It was amazing! We love a good steakhouse and Twisted Tree is probably our favorite. This place has matched their quality and energy. Atmosphere is casual and chill or classy and dressy. Maybe a bit pricey for an average day, but priced right if you're looking for a special occasion! For my dinner; the French onion soup was not overly cheesy or onion-y with the flavors well balanced. The prime rib was tender & cooked perfectly. The gnocchi is the softest & BEST I've ever had (After my out loud exclamation of "Oh wow", my husband & son begged for a taste!) Our waiter was attentive & didn't miss a beat with the bread nor the drinks....The only thing I would say can be improved is the entrance. There is a long driveway & the restaurant (what looks like a house) is to the right. Once you get closer it is a little difficult to pin-point exactly how to enter. We arrived early (just before 4pm) & had it not been for the patio doors being open we would not have known where to park nor how to enter (I'm still not sure if that was correct) We were first & everyone arriving after us followed our lead, parked next to us & also entered through the patio. Once we finally got inside & were seated, the ambiance was calm & inviting. We aren't from the area but I will say the quality of food is worth the drive & priced right for the quality! This place is worth the drive. Tucked back in almost a residential area, you say "where the heck am I going?" before you see it. It feels like you're eating at your grandparents house. The wait staff was VERY attentive and kind. I had a medium-rare ribeye. It was cooked perfectly. It came with a side of some of the best tasting fries I've ever had. I was jealous of the people in my party who had the special prime rib. That's going to be a next time thing. My wife had the New York strip. The piece is snagged from her was great. Our table apps to start the meal where: shrimp Alexander, cocktail shrimp, the stuffed mushrooms and toasted ravioli. The t-ravs were my favorite barely beating out the shrimp Alexander (Who would hate bacon wrapped shrimp? Nobody I want to be friends with.) So much food. Mousalli's Prime is a unique atmosphere, as its location is a house nestled by a wooded area, feeling private and well kept. There is inside and outside dining (has heating and is enclosed in the winter, like when we went). Parking is easily close to the building in any direction as it surrounds all areas of the restaurant. As you walk in the front doors, you are greeted by friendly staff, however, you do walk past kitchen/prep areas to get to the seating where we sat, close to bar area, but nicely nestled where it felt private. It over looked the outdoor seating so we could still see outside, or as in my husband's side, he could see the bar TV's. Our waitress quickly greeted us with a friendly face, advising us of drink options and stating she would have waters and bread right back with her. She did just this, asking if we were ready, or needed more time. In the meantime, she advised us of specials, appetizer options and her favorite picks. We appreciated her expertise and giving us the space and time we needed to decide. Their menu features Coke products to drink and a large selection of wine, cocktails and beer. Choices for everyone. Bread that is brought to the table is a soft style, focaccia (which neither of us are big on) with fancy styled butter. My husband and I both chose steak options. I ordered an 8oz filet mignon, with baked potato and French onion soup. He ordered a 16oz ribeye, baked potato and tai curry chicken soup (a suggestion from the waitress with a spicy kick). I also ordered their garlic parmesan fries because I couldn't choose between the options. When the soups were brought out, again we were asked if everything was well and if we needed anything. The attention to detail on service was on point through our whole experience. Now back to the food...the French onion soup was OUTSTANDING, some of the best we've both ever had! It comes with two cheesy crostini's on top which just added to the delectableness. It has a creamy, delicious, not over powering onion flavor like some can have. Definitely worth trying, even if you aren't a French onion soup gal like myself. My husband has the pallet for the spice, I do not, thus he had the tai curry chicken soup. So his credit for that one is, good flavor, enjoyable traditional tai flavors. Spice scale was a 3/5. Our meal came out hot and huge. Their baked potatoes are ginormous! My husband and I's steaks were both cooked to our liking. He ordered a medium well and I, a well done steak. I know that seams terrifying to some, but I always state, if it's a steakhouse that knows how to cook, then it'll be wonderful! I can attest that the cooks know just how to make a well done steak to perfection. It was still tender and juicy with a beautiful char. All our food was brought out hot and beautifully plated. Soon after we started the owner came out to check on us and our food. My husband and I both agree, this is where you really see the beauty in this establishment. It says a lot when an owner comes out to check on you and your experience. Sadly, he approached me moments after I tried the first bite, so I wasn't quite sure how I felt yet. He could see something was off and asked again if everything was okay. My husband said it was good. My only negative was my seasoning for the steak, it just didn't have as much flavor as expected. Now, saying even more for the care and compassion this restaurant has is that the owner came over again, checking to make sure my food was good. This time I was open and made my statement. He was very thoughtful to apologize and was sincere in taking that criticism. Not that I'm any kind of high and mighty. It was just my personal preference. BUT, he came back, he checked again, and he truly wanted us to enjoy our food and evening and this means a lot to us. Literally the entire time we felt care for and welcome. The service is top notch! More on the steaks, the texture and quality of the beef is excellent! In all sincerity, it was good, just less flavorful in seasoning than I prefer. It was the same for the garlic parmesan fries, just not much to them. The baked potato was great though. As I talked with the owner, I asked about the glaze over my steak, he said this is a 24hr process of creating a veal bone, French style Demi glaze. This was heavy for my taste but I could see others enjoying this touch. Overall, we'd give the steak and sides a 6.5/10 in comparison to other steak houses we've tried local and STL region. Steakhouses aren't great places for vegetarians, so I'm not surprised my food waste great, but I wasn't expecting it to be disgusting, especially since we called ahead to be sure there were options. The ramen they prepared looked like Top Ramen and it was so salty that I couldn't eat it. I wasn't impressed with the side dishes that were vegetarian. The vegetables were overcooked and mushy and the salad dressing was very watery and lacked flavor. Only one of the steak eaters the group I went with liked their steak, the others were overcooked. The service was good, but the bar is slow to prepare cocktails. The restaurant was much louder the one would expect for a steakhouse. read more
