I ordered the new chicken sandwich and this is what i got!!?
Laleh H.

When this Popeye's first opened, I would have given them a solid 4 stars on their food. For the past 3 years now, we have had 1 or 2 incidents where we have had to go back or call in regarding issues with our orders (undercooked chicken). Having said that to clarify how often we have eaten there since they first opened their doors - we were picking up take-out at least 3-4 times a month. Based on my last visit there, this location needs ZERO stars. When the new chicken sandwich came out, we decided to go in and give it a try after all the hype we were hearing. What a HUGE disappointment! We ordered 3 combos - 2 with fries and 1 with rings. The patty was soggy, not crispy at all. I was speechless after seeing all of the commercials and posts on social media that this was THE sandwich to try out. No mayo on the bun and 2 sandwiches only had 1 small pickle inside. Well the problems didn't end there. I called in to ask what happened to the mayo & pickles. I received a half a$$ apology and an offer for 3 complimentary sandwiches on our next visit. It's not about the free food, it's the principle of it and not getting what I paid for. I wanted to return the sandwiches and get a full refund, but they refused and insisted they would make it better once I mentioned that. Fast forward 2 weeks later we decided to give them another chance. There were 4-5 people in line. The sandwiches were ordered, cashier was very polite and friendly. As soon as the credit was mentioned, she changed her attitude completely and went to get the manager. They berated my husband in front of the other customers and told him that after receiving the 3 sandwiches that he was not welcome back there. My husband asks why and the reply was "this is the 2nd time you have made a complaint, nobody complains about our food, you are not welcome here anymore". My husband stood there stunned! 2nd time in almost 7 years we had a problem with our food and instead of trying to make it right and ensure it doesn't happen again, they refuse service to customers. WOW!! Let me get this straight! The Yelp reviews, TripAdvisor reviews and Google reviews are all lies?!? Your restaurant is perfect and gets a 5 star every time? I have read so many reviews on this sandwich, this location and the quality and service. No surprise at the very low ratings on reviews. I tried reaching out multiple times to their head office, but clearly there is no customer service at Popeye's and they could care less about customer experiences and reviews. If you want to try a great chicken sandwich - head over to KFC and order their Famous Chicken Sandwich! Hands down 100% better than Popeye's $10 soggy sandwich. With an attitude like that, this Popeye's can keep their soggy sandwiches and undercooked chicken.

Came to Popeyes for the new Chicken Sandwich. Used to get the other Sammy all the time and needed to try this one out. Overhyped? Perhaps. Value for what it is? Definitely.

I buy 9 pieces of chicken you count this piece of small wing as one piece of chicken? Won't come back again.... When I read people wrote the review at this place say how bad it was... Now I believe it with my own expericne.

Size of the wing, same size as my finger

I really want to give 0 star. Just ordered wings, the size is super mini wings compare to other popeyes. Not gonna buy anything from this store

It was really good. Better than I expected. Ingredients were fresh. He burger wasn't dry and the bun was nice and soft. The fries were good and had the skin on. It took two people fifteen minutes to make it. - Communication to the customer on how long it would take for my order to be ready wasn't stellar. On Wednesday night, after driving home from Mississauga, I felt like a milkshake. Where should I get one? I remembered that the Boardwalk Fries Burgers Shake location in Scarborough that I had visited months ago offered milkshakes. I also remembered this Boardwalk location in Markham. It used to be South St. Burger. Markham used to have two locations. It now has zero, which is a downer. I came here at nearly 9 pm. There were lots of parking spots. I pulled into one and entered the store. The Boardwalk is a combo store with Lava Grill. There is one entrance for both eateries. I walked in. There was a couple enjoying a meal. I was the only person at the order area, which is shared between the two eateries. It took a while for the man at Boardwalk to come over. He was making burgers. I ordered these items: - Strawberry shake without whipped cream - Dubai chocolate brownie I paid with a credit card. Done. Communication is an issue here. This man continued making burgers and fries. He didn't let me know how long it would take to make my order. I wasn't in a rush, but I didn't know that it would take fifteen minutes for two folks to try and make my milkshake. I did like that the press for the burgers automatically came down on the patties and had a timer. I also watched fries go into hot oil and the basket automatically come up once the fries were done. It was also on a timer. I noticed that burger man got Lava guy to make my shake. They both went into the back. Burger man came back to assemble the burgers. Lava guy was still in the back. My guess was that there was some issue making my shake. Again, I got no communication until Lava guy came out to look at my order and told me it would be two minutes. Um, sure. I didn't believe it. I was right. I decided to sit down. Burger guy had finished making the burgers. He went outside. He came back in. His first communication to me was two fingers up in the area. Two minutes or victory?! Five minutes later, I saw a shake come out from the back. Lava guy was holding it. Lava guy took a box with a brownie and packed it in a paper bag. I got a napkin, a fork, and a spoon. He handed me a pretty strawberry shake and my paper bag. I thanked both guys, more relieved than anything, and left. I got into my car and drove home. Despite the wait and the lack of decent communication, the two items that I had were excellent. The strawberry milkshake was yummy. I loved the strawberry flavour. It was creamy and enjoyable. I had the Dubai chocolate brownie yesterday. It was so good. I loved the crispy bits with pistachio cream and a delectable, moist brownie layer. Yum! I'm thinking that ordering online and coming here to pick up my order would be best. This place seems to take its time because it seems to be on its own time. Boardwalk has happy hour deals at night. I may give it a try next time. Here's hoping that communication is better. (190)

I was blown away by the quality of the subs. WOW. Every sub was PACKED to the brim w/ goodies. No skimping out on ingredients. Tons of meat, tons of veggies, tons of sauce. For the hot subs, the meat was sooooo soft and easy to swallow. I had a bite of my friends' subs and they were all super delicious. The chicken in the captains club was so juicy. The beef in the smokehouse sub was melt in the mouth. The bread on all subs was toasted. They also have one of those nice machines w/ tons of different soda options to choose from (peach mello yellow zero SUPER UNDERRATED). Shoutout to Donte who helped me with my order as a first-timer to this store! Love that I was able to stack a bunch of extra add-ons for no additional charge. Also loved that every sub came w/ a dill pickle on the side (the pickles were delicious too). I was tempted to upgrade my bun to garlic bread but that'll be for another visit. In terms of price, it is premiumly priced at around $20-25 per sub which is expensive tbh. Does the quality justify that price tag? I would actually have to say yea it does! SOOOOO much meat packed into every sub. AND the employees don't treat you like dirt (*cough cough* Jersey Mike's, Subway and Mr. Sub I'm looking at you guys). Sooo jelly that there isn't a location closer to me at all but I signed up for the rewards program right away. MY GOD. Best subs I've had in recent memory.

The gentleman was incredibly nice in explaining what the top favs were and was even nice to allow me to add an ingredient, as one of my spuds had something removed (no coleslaw for me). My order consisted of Mexican Fiesta and Nashville Chick. My husband took his Mexican fiesta potato as is, but I ended up switching my pulled chicken for fried chicken. The potatoes were amazing! The base potato was so flavourful and not bland at all, evenly seasoned on its own without the toppings. The toppers were delicious and went well with the spud. It hasn't even been a week, and I'm already jonesing for my next potato bar experience.

I ordered the 4 piece chicken dinner which comes with one side & a biscuit. I asked him on a side recommendation & he recommended Cajun fries, onion rings or coleslaw. I really like that I could pick any side & there was no up charge for certain ones. I chose the coleslaw & added a order of the fries. I was told that it would take 15 minutes & as I waited, I watched him work like a pro. He would ask the kitchen how much longer for certain food/orders then would update the individual. My order was ready around the time he said it would be. When I got home, I was pleasantly surprised at the size of each thigh & drumstick (they only serve dark meat). The coleslaw is larger than a typical side at other fried chicken places & there is a good amount of fries. The chicken was tasty! Skin was crunchy and the meat juicy. I did get it spicy but it's still on the mild side for me. The fries was cooked to perfection... crispy and full of Cajun flavor. I really liked the biscuit too. The pandemic happened. I worked from home. I haven't had Mary Brown's for a few years. Recently, was in the western end of Markham. I needed to fetch some dinner. I did a search on my Uber Eats app and found a BOGO deal at Mary Brown's. Perfect! The Big Mary sandwich was BOGO. I also got a large mac and cheese, and a small waffle-cut fry poutine. My app stated that it would take fifteen minutes for my order to be ready. I was good taking my time driving northbound along Woodbine Avenue. I needed to make a left turn. I've been to this area before, with Freshii, Pizza Studio, Big Smoke Burger, and more in this plaza. I had an impatient dealer car behind me who honked while there was oncoming traffic and wanted to bypass me to make a turn. I had never seen that move before. If he wanted to get hit by oncoming traffic, be my guest, but don't do a tailspin into my car. I turned left. He gave in and followed suit. Weird. I parked away from Mary Brown's, as there was a tow truck helping out a car closer to the eatery. I realized walking over that I could have parked closer to the entrance. There were spots for pickup orders like mine. I walked in. This eatery is humungous. It was nice seeing St. John's row houses as a backdrop on the wall. I saw a cubicle area where you could pick up orders through the Mary Brown's app. There is a lot of seating and it looked clean. There was a customer ahead of me. I waited patiently before I headed up to the front. I got a nice woman. I showed her my Uber Eats order details. She nodded and grabbed my paper bag with my order. I thanked her and headed out the door. I had my food once I got home. I was excited to have dinner. My Big Mary's sandwich looked small in my hand. I do have large hands. However, this sandwich is a bit deceiving. The chicken was thick. It had a crispy exterior. It was juicy and fully cooked. I loved it. It was filling. The bun with the signature pickle slice on top was yummy. I loved this sandwich so much. I had the other one the following day. I got a large mac and cheese. It's a cold salad. I'm not sure why it has the cheese part in it. It doesn't taste cheesy at all. What's funny is that I don't mind that it isn't cheesy. I like macaroni salad and this version makes me happy. It's creamy and cold. The macaroni is cooked perfectly. I had half the mac and cheese salad during this meal. I had the rest the next day. I consumed all my waffle-cut fry poutine. The cheese curds were stretchy and the real deal. There was lots of gravy, which I love. It was salty, though. Bummer. The waffle fries were yummy. If the gravy wasn't so salty, this poutine would have been excellent. Instead, it was good and I needed a lot of beverages to quench my thirst. It was great finally visiting this eatery. I'm a fan. I need to return for more good eats. (123)
