This Popeye's is located inside the little food court at the T/A truck stop. It is generally clean, well staffed, and a pleasure to visit. I normally visit the Country Pride sit-down restaurant, but on occasion I like to eat spicy food. Popeye's Chicken fills the bill. Each time I have visited this restaurant, the employees are courteous, efficient, and knowledgeable about the menu offerings. Recent visits to Popeye's Chicken in my hometown have disappointed me with the lack of spiciness. Expecting the worst, I was pleasantly surprised to get a chicken sandwich much to my liking. I will still visit the sit-down restaurant more often than not, but Popeye's Chicken is on my radar. I recommend! read more

Very slow service--I waited over 30 minutes, and the staff wasn't very friendly. Overall, it was a disappointing experience.

What a wonderful surprise.....This restaurant opened about 18 months ago, then, fell victim to a fire, that put them out of business, for a year. They've recently re-opened, and, WOW! Whatever they did during the rebuild, has really paid off! As a transplanted Cajun, I can tell you, I know my fried chicken. "Love that chicken at Popeye's", just not from the store inside the TA in Porter, IN. The food was great as always but the service is the ABSOLUTE WORSE!!! I ordered and paid for my food at 5:19 pm, sat down 'cause I knew it would take a little bit. As I sat there I watched as at least a dozen other customers order food and after a few minutes they left with their food. Watching food come out of the same type and variety I had ordered had me wondering if I had been forgotten. I asked the manager/expediter to make sure one of the items (mashed potatoes w/NO gravy) was part of my order as my receipt said "mashed gravy". I was assured it would be right "WHEN IT WAS READY!" Finally my order was ready. When I looked in the bag there was the mashed potatoes swimming in gravy. And a red beans and rice was not there. The expediter, who said she didn't see the red beans and rice on the receipt until I showed her my receipt said that she couldn't read, made sure that all items were in the bag and I left. I had now been in the resturaunt 45 minutes! Taking the food out of the bag at home I then discover that the 12 piece I ordered was only an 11 piece. Guess she can't count either! This Popeye's is only 5 minutes from my house but in the future I will drive the 20-25 minutes to go to another Popeye's in Michigan City. NEVER AGAIN FROM THE POPEYE'S IN PORTER!!! read more

8:35 they closed, saying I could order it by door dash, then they'll make the food. But they closed. When they are open, they slow as heck.

I dont know what happened to this place in the last few months... Everytime i come here it keeps getting worse and worse. We end up leaving and going to the one in Michigan city Indiana. You guys never have anything. We come and drop at least 50.00 dollars every time. You guys used to have the best staff now you guys have the worst people on cashier. I am being nice by saying the worse staff!!!! You guys used to have the BEST cashiers even when it was super super busy. The past two times i have canceled my order well ordering because the cashier didnt know anything and wasnt nice about it even when my husband was beening very nice about it. Swung through while on the road and they were out of chicken tenders except for the spicy ones! That was what my husband wanted anyway, but not me lol. I just got a drink and the red beans and rice side I would have got anyway, and then the manager was SO cool because he didn't charge me for the drink as an apology for the tenders, and he gave us a large container of red beans and rice and only charged us for a small. This Popeye's is in the Porter Travel Center, and I believe it's quite popular both for a travel stop and by local diners. Orders are handled promptly by a friendly staff, and the dining area is well maintained. My meal came out hot and stayed hot as I was eating it. Actually, first experience here wasn't good. I was overcharged and my sides were like personal servings. I talked to the manager and she was very nice and said they honor ANY Popeyes coupons.
