While my cousin was in town for a visit, we made a trip to Popfancy for their Howl's Moving Castle themed pop up cafe. Upon entering, I was immediately so impressed with the interior. They made the inside look so cozy and feel like you were eating in Howl's kitchen alongside Calcifer's hearth. They also had some Studio Ghibli merch available for purchase and an extensive Studio Ghibli themed menu. We ordered the Totoro Taiyaki which was filled with Ube custard & served with a scoop of ice cream of our choice. Our order was prepared promptly, and we enjoyed our dessert while watching some clips of Ghibli movies and trivia videos. The experience was adorable and interactive, and I'm looking forward to seeing what other themed cafe's Popfancy pulls off next!
Tried coming as a walk in with my nieces and nephew a few weeks ago, but quickly realized it was going to be a very long wait given the line that formed and didn't really seem to be moving. I ended up paying for fast passes (they do release free fast passes, but those get scooped up quickly, and I was able to pay $3 per ticket on eventbrite to snag fast passes). Our pass was for 1pm and we were inside by 1:10pm. They do reserve the tables initially for the fast passes, at least when we came in at our time and it was great because I couldn't imagine being here without a table since I had a group of little ones with me! The staff were super friendly and worked as quickly as they could. There was a little bit of stress because of volume of orders and people, but they did the best they could and handled the traffic well. We got a variety of drinks and each enjoyed them-- I will say, all of the drinks are on the sweeter side, but definitely standard for kids. We literally got one of everything on the menu and I wasn't able to grab photos before the kids enjoyed them, but that's the whole point! The add ons can become pricey, but for the enjoyment of your little ones, it's definitely worth it! For food, we got the Derpy spam rice, ramen and grilled cheese. The kids all really enjoyed it and definitely wanted to come back for the next pop up themed cafe!
The place was so cute , I loved it , I came in on a Sunday and it wasn't busy at all, the food was good and drinks , the prices was ok but ultra adorable and on theme I can't wait to come back to Houston for the next theme .
Place was set up for Howl's Moving Castle and they did a great job on the decorations. Dessert was cute and affordable. Good selections of mystery boxes. Only downside was the girl at the register. She was seriously disconnected. Maybe she was having a bad day but she messed up our order (we didn't say anything because she was so unapproachable) but man no place is cute enough to deal with that parking and that attitude.
The ambiance is PEAK. The food... Was okay. We came during the Howl's Moving Castle/Studio Ghibli theme and got the jiggly shooting star, little shoes and A Summer's Day drink. They were all kinda mid, the best part of the jiggly shooting star was the fruit tbh. It sat in liquid and got a bit of a grainy consistency to it which was unpleasant. Everything looked really cute though! I might try another theme.
Took my boyfriend here to surprise him during the Naruto theme month. He loved it! We had some cat-shaped taiyaki w/ a cookie monster ice cream and my boyfriend is now obsessed with that kind of ice cream, lol. It really felt like you had entered another world. Love how seriously they take their decorating. Looking forward to other future themes they come up with.
It was ok. We paid for the fast pass as it was on a Sat afternoon that we were going. And when we got there there was No Line. I wish the money went towards your order once you get there. That was wasted money. They had some good themed drinks, good and treats that were tasty. However I feel like the decor was lacking. The staff could have also been in costume/cos play to make it more realistic. We went to the retro arcade with stranger things influence. It's very small in there but the tables turn over pretty quickly.
It's really fascinating to see how this dessert place transform their store into the different themes! I visited during "The Witches" theme aka Emerald City, and had the Ice Cream Sandwich ($8). It is a bit overpriced for a small ice cream sandwich but that's expected for the immersive pop-up. Also pretty cool that they had a meet and greet for Elphaba and Glinda as well!
I've been coming here for years and this is the first time I've ever experienced such a drop in service. By all means, preview your upcoming menu for your influencers, but it should never be at the expense of other customers. Waiting over 30 minutes for one milkshake and two sparkling lemon drinks is nonsensical.
I came to Popfancy during there Kpop demon hunter themed cafe event. The decor was super cute and everything was on theme. The line was pretty long to enter, but that's to be expected for these kind of events. This was my first time coming to Popfancy so I can't compare it to how it regular appearance or wait times. I do think that the food and drinks came out pretty quickly despite on how many people were there, the staff is obviously used to these sorts of events. I really liked the ice sundae and the drinks, very fun and creative ideas. The noodle and rice dish was also good. Lots of people brought there kids and they were all having a great time.
I was recommended Pop Fancy by a good friend of mine. It was actually amazing vibes when we went in. They had all kinds of desserts that you get to choose from. It's definitely trendy and the desserts were great. Great service from th staff!
This place is really cool! They have different themes and it's all really cool. I have gone several times. Definitely worth it. It's kinda expensive. The staff are very nice and when it gets busy they do their best to get tables available. The different drinks and desserts are so good and so cute when themed to the event. They always decorated very well and they put thought into the decor.
We came during the 80's themed/Stranger Things event. It's busy. The fast pass helped us get into the restaurant and out of the cold but you will wait to order, wait to be seated and then a pretty long wait for food. The staff are nice. The decor is pretty cute. I would come on a week day for the best experience and to be able to take photos and have less wait time. The food is not great tasting but the presentation was cute. If you want cute insta pics, this is your place. If you want delicious food, I would skip this theme.

Super cute store and business concept. When I say we went for Mario and free games it was cute. But more child and teen focused then adult. Don't judge me! I like Mario and this was cute and fun to experience at least once. The food and drinks were basic nothing that tasted excitedly come back again. But they were fun and matched the theme. Wow this place was incredibly cute! I love the concept of getting to pick a popsicle or cup and add toppings. I got cereal milk popsicle with 1/2 coating of taro, white chocolate drizzle and chocolate crisps. Sometimes with popsicles the cereal milk doesn't taste very milky, there's usually something off but now with theirs! I loved that there was fruity pebbles at the bottom. I think I came in on a bad night but I didn't have the best experience. the line to place your order was super unorganized and they didn't take my name when I placed my order so the girl was confused when she brought out my items. I ordered some specialty waffles and a taro ice cream. I think the taro ice cream was really good, basically taro flavor with a hard taro flavored shell. I will be coming back to try more ice cream but the waffles were a complete miss. I ate them almost immediately but they were still super soggy and IMO over priced for the size and taste. Again - I'll be coming back and giving this place another shot as well as update my review. read more

I think this place started out as a simple popsicle place and turned into something unique. It has all the cool pop ups every once in a while. The one we went to was Harry Potter themed. I was very impressed by the decor and all the amazing merch that they had. Love that they also had quizzes related to the theme displaying. Definitely a once in a life time experience. The only reason why I am giving it a 4star is because my butter beer drink wasn't that flavorful. I feel like it was more sugar based than caramel. Trendy, Instagrammable, Delicious Desserts I love how this pop-up store changes every month or two. If you are into Instagram, this is a place to visit for dessert to keep your followers entertained. It is always changing so staying on top of the trend. I think desserts are a little bit more expensive due to them changing their interior so frequently but I think it's worth it. Think of it as an experience like going to a museum instead of just getting dessert to fill up your belly. I love it and will continue to visit. So I made a reservation online in their virtual line (free) not knowing if there was some exhibition going on. It was like a 15 minute wait until we got a message back saying we could come in now (you have an hour to do so). When we got there 5 minutes later there was nobody there. So I think you don't need to bother with the reservation system on regular days (it was Saturday). We ate in the cafe. They only had a few tables available since most of the place was roped off for them to make up the store for the next exhibition. The cashier was the same person making the food. Two others were busy making the place up for the exhibition. And another was eating. It was about 3 pm on a Saturday afternoon. A steady stream of customers came in while we were there. Limited parking in front of the cafe itself although I did see a garage nearby. The strawberry matcha latte was good but the popsicle in it was all melted and fell off the stick when we pulled it out. The drink itself also has ice chunks. Not sure if that's normal or not. Maybe they didn't blend it well. Not sure. The strawberry s'mores pop was pretty good. My kid loves the marshmallow part. The Choco lover swirl ice cream was also pretty good. The cereal bits stayed crunch surprisingly as they were at the bottom of the dish and got all the melted ice cream on them. The music was awesome. Came here on a weeknight and was quite underwhelmed. I had the matcha popsicle with half chocolate and blueberry topping. I thought the popsicle was too icy, and it was overall overpriced. The soft serve was more reasonably priced, as the flavor and size seemed more worthwhile and enjoyable. Was impossible to eat the popsicle with the blueberries - they just rolled around everywhere. Part of it is my fault for ordering it, but I think it shouldn't be listed as an option if it doesn't work. I thought the dip would make the berries stick to the pop. read more

Cool event with arcade theme. They still have the pops just not the fancy pops. Got a specialty ice cream in a cup with a few extras like a brownie!! Really nice presentation. Had a small incident but staff member Kristine came to the rescue. Will come back and check online when the regular pops menu is back. read more

Went for this super mario pop up and it was pretty dope. Took their advice and paid the $3 for the reservation, which took us to the front of the line. The food took long as heck to come out but it was really good. Just an overall dope experience. read more

TLDR: A sweet lover's dream... once you pop the fun don't stop. Do it. Visit: Multi occasions Rating: 8.3/10 I've stopped into Popfancy more than I should... but I have absolutely no regrets. The cashiers/employees are always pleasant and the desserts are all solid. Granted, I've only tried the pops, ice cream, and poptails, I'm going on record to say this is a "go to" for desserts in the area. They have a multitude of signature items, plus numerous flavor offerings in each category from fruity to creamy that can be customized to your particular palate! My faves thus far have been the Tropical Pineapple Poptail (I've a huge sweet tooth so I got the lemonade version and not tea, which I wholeheartedly recommend you do if you're looking for a sugar rush), the Thai Tea pop with white chocolate Kit Kat pearls and white chocolate drizzle, and the berry swirl ice cream w/ your choice of toppings. From October 15-31, 1-10pm daily, they offer a special Harry Potter themed menu, from butterbeer, sorting hat elixir (color changing lemonade), Harry Potter themed macaroons, to a variety of cool ice cream options! They also have live DJ onsite, wands and other merchandise for purchase, and the whole store looks very magical. I got the Pixiedust Illusion (cotton candy ice cream with pink cotton candy, taro drizzle, and unicorn dust). It's definitely one of the most instagrammable food I've ever gotten, and it tastes amazing! For a lighter dessert, my partner got the butterbeer, it's cream soda with butterscotch, very refreshing, he liked it. I came here on a Friday afternoon, no wait at all. This place is a lot smaller than it looks on Instagram. We went during the weekday and didn't have to make reservations. But, I'm a sure judging by the size, you will need a reservation on most weekends. The menu was cute and delicious. I would recommend. I like the way they change the theme every season read more
The place is very cute, modern, picturesque, and fun. However, the prices are outrageous for something that isn't that great. I typically do not mind paying a premium for desserts if they taste good, especially for special occasions or a "treat yo self" day, but I would not want to go back here. The flurry ice cream seemed to be the best bang for my buck, so I tried the Berry Fruit Swirl and I was not impressed. Yes, it was very pretty, but it did not taste good at all. The ice cream was bland. How is that even possible?? It tasted watered down or something and there was barely any fruits in it. They ran out of strawberries so I asked if I could get more mango, and guess how many mango pieces I got? THREE!! I would rather go to Dairy Queen and get a blizzard. read more

Pop fancy Dessert Bar is by far the MOST interesting cafe in Houston. I've visited a few times in the past and just now realized they throw a series of quirky and trendy experiences. In the past I visited the cafe during their Demon Slayer event (Anime), and their Stranger Things event. Looking back I wish I would've taken pictures at the time, but I was too enveloped in the spectacles! When you walk into Popfancy you are always greeted with a warm smile, the staff will steer you in the right direction if it is your first time visiting because everything on their menu sounds delicious, or looks aesthetically pleasing. I can't put my finger on it yet, but this time around it looked like they were throwing a 90's arcade themed event. Maybe a rollover from the Stranger Things event, nonetheless the cafe is decorated enough for a full on photo shoot. I brought my sister with me on this visit, we ordered the Hot Mochi Waffle Pops (priced at $6.45 for 2, we added 2 scoops of ice cream for an additional $5) AND omg, just take a look at the pictures below, I almost feel like the pictures don't do the food justice, I also added a pic of the Toasted S'mores Swirl from my last visit. This is a great cafe to visit if you want a new/fun experience, or if you need a few pics to add to your instagram LOL! Ambiance: 10/10 Quirky decorations, trendy music (Pop, K-pop, K-rnb) Cuisine: 11/10 Aesthetically pleasing Ice cream, Popsicles, Milkshakes, and Desserts! Price Range: Wildly affordable!! (All menu items $10 and below) Parking: 5/10 Stiff parking lot because the strip center holds a variety of popular restaurants. If you can't find parking in the main parking lot, there is a parking garage to the left of the shopping center. Popfancy is such a good idea. We all love ice cream and popsicles- well most of us do. Houston's weather makes it appropriate year round. They have a variety of flavors, dips, and toppings. Great place for kids to get their sugar rush! If you order popsicles from here then they put your order in pouches that keep your popsicles frozen. They aren't even a little bit melted. Let me rate what I got: Horchata popsicle 3/5 popsicle definitely tasted authentic with rice and cinnamon flavor, however the flavor tasted watered down and weak. Piña Colada popsicle 3/5 again authentic flavor with pineapple and coconut but watered down. Passion fruit popsicle 4/5 Passion fruit is my absolute favorite fruit . The popsicles were DELICIOUS but a tad bit tart. Refreshing nonetheless. Strawberry lemonade 2/5 This popsicle tasted off, that's all I can say about that. I may get the passionfruit popsicles again. It's so cute here. They had an Attack on Titan theme and were selling merchandise from the anime. They stop serving ice cream at 10:35pm (understandable since they close at 11pm) so keep that in mind. It's kind of loud here so they have to yell your number when your order is ready. Sometimes you can't even hear them. I ordered the chocolate Oreo pop and I wouldn't recommend it. After the first bite, a lot of the toppings fell off. read more

Clean clean clean and clean again! This is the type of energy we need in the city and we will support and help this place grow anyway we can! If you haven't been here it's time to come. First of all, the decor of this place is AMAZING!! When I recently came here, they had their Winter Wanderlust theme going on, which consisted on beautiful, icy decorations all over the dessert bar...made me feel like I was in a Christmas movie! They also had a Winter Wanderlust themed menu that went along the decor. I ordered the Grinch's Heart drink with a Gummy Bear Shaped Plastic Bottle ($6.45 + $2.50 for the Gummy Bear Bottle) and my cousin ordered the Nutcracker's Gift drink with a Gummy Bear Shaped Plastid Bottle ($6.45 + $2.50 for the Gummy Bear Bottle). Flavors were so good! The Grinch's Heart had a pineapple taste to it, while the Nutcracker's Gift had a pink lemonade type of taste to it. I also found out that this place usually does different themes frequently, ranging from a Stranger Things theme to a K-Pop band theme (Seventeen, NCT themed menu, etc.), so that's pretty cool! I do admit that the prices of this place is very pricy, but I will let that slide because I can imagine how much the management had to spend on their decorations because they are so worth seeing. The cereal monster swirl here is delicious! It's got a bunch of old school cereals for that cereal milk taste- so good! The mochi waffles were okay, I kind wish the outside was crispier, but the flavor is good and it came out super warm. I'm not really a fan of mushy food, so this might be on me really. I got reeled in by the pictures and in my head I kept thinking it'd be crispier like a traditional waffle, but mochi is a little gummy in texture. Despite that, the flavor is really good! I just should've known myself better since I am already familiar with mochi and shouldn't have expected otherwise. They're still in the process of tearing down their sailor moon displays from their pop up event and opening week, so the place looks kind of empty and unfinished, but it's mostly just because they're still in the process of tearing it down. Popfancy - 1st time here! Chinatown, Houston TX What is it? All - natural pops, cream cups What did we get? - see photo This place is soooo cute- bright, energetic, and yummy. KPop videos play on the screens and the music is not too loud but just enough to vibe out. Came here for date night around 7 pm on a Friday. Not overcrowded, but enough for all the tables to be filled at every table turn. The staff is super friendly and helpful. With it being out 1st time, they helped us navigate the menu and ordering. The prices are reasonable too - $13 for two "cups" with toppings These are strange times we're living in, but to ensure our safety and cleanliness, staff was masked up and tables were cleaned quickly. THE CUTEST INTERIOR EVER! I loved the decorations including the human sized barbie photo prop that my friends and I had a lot of fun with. The vibe was very energetic with KPOP themed decor and background music. Most of the menu items are customizable and you could mix and match all the toppings and flavors to your liking. Compared to their ice creams and drinks which were very sweet, the waffle sweetness was more bearable. This place will definitely satisfy your sweet tooth! read more

The vibes: immaculate. The ice cream: not very good. It's an Instagram trap. First off, the way the fog on the ice cream works, they put the ice cream in the lid of a frappacino cup with a hole on the bottom so as you're eating the ice cream once you start to finish it- it drops to the bottom through the hole. I lost 1/4 of my ice cream because of that. You also get 1-2 scoops of ice cream for like $15. I had the chocolate ice cream during the holiday/ frozen theme and it had the Harry Potter theme on it which was odd to me that it was labeled as a holiday specialty but it was from an old theme that they did. Not only that, the chocolate ice cream was not good. My boyfriend had the mint chocolate chip and it was much better. How do you mess up chocolate ice cream?!?! read more

First off the service was amazing, the man taking our order was very kind and explained a lot to us since it was our first time here. The decor in the restaurant was beautiful but I was expecting more, especially with the food. We checked the menu on instagram before coming and decided what we wanted. When we got here they only had drinks, no food, and were very limited on what toppings they had. Most of the desserts were from the previous Barbie menu so it didn't tie into the aesthetic of the restaurant at all and in my opinion none of the food on the menu did. I'm not sure what I was expecting but from seeing their reels and menus on instagram I was slightly disappointed in person. We did like the treats we got but will definitely call and ask about the menu next time. read more

Popfancy is such a cute concept ice cream shop. I loved the minimal decor and the neon sign wall. They have a variety of flavors and options as well as dairy-free options for my lactose intolerant or vegan friends. I tried the smores ice cream that came with a toasted marshmallow on top and teddy grahams drizzled with magic shell. It was so good! not sickeningly sweet at all. There are plenty of places to sit or take photos and I appreciated that they are allowing you to dine in as long as you wear a mask and distance from other guests. read more

Why is taro being marketed as ube here? They have different texture and taste.
We use both a fresh taro paste and a filipino ube halaya to make our ice cream. It's kind of like our unique fusion of both so we interchange both names on different menu items.
