Now when I looked it up in yelp, it's Saigon chillin.... Full disclaimer, I haven't had the food here, but I don't think I will either. I tried to call in but the 2 numbers I found, one had a full mail box and the other one was no longer connected. I read a few reviews from other people and while the food looked ok, it seems like I'll get bad service that will take forever so this is going to be a hard pass. read more

I was in a rush and decided to stop in for a quick bite. This location can be a bit confusing as it's named Hot Pot Ice Cream but it's also M-Saigon Street Food. This is the type of spot you pay at the counter first and grab your own utensils etc. I was not interested in ice cream but was pleasantly surprised they sold Bò Né and man was it good! The plate came out sizzling and packed with flavor. The only reason I'm giving 4/5 stars is because the employees have been less than friendly on the two occasions I've visited. This place is a nice, chill spot to hang out and talk, with clean and comfortable seating and friendly staff. I had never had a banh mi like this one. We ordered their banh mi que, which features unique, skinny bread filled with generous amounts of pâté, butter, and thinly sliced meat. It was crunchy and crispy, and the first bite left me wanting more. We also ordered their sizzling bo ne with meatballs. I must say, the steak was tender and packed with flavor, served hot, and the bread was crispy, perfect for dipping into the savory sauce. The boba drinks added a sweet touch for dessert. Came in on a Saturday evening, there was tons of parking available and they have a lot of indoor and outdoor seating available. They even had karaoke and party lights outside, it was definitely a cute vibe. The customer service is great, the girl up front let us sample all the flavors we wanted to try before selecting our 6 flavors for the small hot pot gelato. Honestly it wasn't worth it to me. The gelato flavors are interesting but they weren't great. They had a decent variety but a lot of them weren't my cup of tea. Paying $25 for 6 small scoops of ice cream some mini marshmallows, animal crackers, and two strawberries and 3 orange slices just was not worth the price. The fish sauce that comes along with it was also delicious. Communication with workers could be better. We thought they forgot to bring this dish out. When we went up to the counter to ask about it, they looked like they scrambling to prep it. However they later said it takes a while to prep; who knows what's true... Bi cuon (rolls) was average. Bo Ne Dac Biet w/ bread/butter/pate was ok. Could live without the salad. Banh Mi que dac biet (thap cam/red meat w/ pate/butter/veggies) was also pretty good but nothing special. Cons: they recently changed ownership. They are Yelp hasn't been updated. But their Google page has. It is now called M Saigon. And they have an expanded menu. That is also not available anywhere online. Pros: now they do the ice cream like they used to. And they've added. Thiem hung sandwiches, Bo nhe, banh beo, and other foods. My sister is pretty picky. And she thinks Bo nhe here is better than at the other places in town. She thinks the meat is more tender. read more

Since it's a narrow baguette, the pate flavor is more intense with less bread surface, and a dash of Sriracha gives it a nice kick! We like it enough to buy another 2 for lunch later. According to my sister-in-law, they find this type of Banh Mi near the Da Nang airport in Vietnamese. The mini Cha Gio is vegetarian and made from prepackaged inventory but packs enough flavors and extra crispy. They come with sweet and sour chili sauce. With the plethora of beverage places in Chinatown, I'm quite impressed by the two drinks we got here, Ice-blended Avocado with Black Sesame and a Strawberry Smoothie. They are made with quality ingredients, and sensible Asian-level sweetness, and delicious to drink! PARKING: Parking is limited in the parking lot. AMBIANCE: It is a casual dine in. FOOD/DRINKS: Placed a large ordered for a group which includes durian avocado smoothie, four season fruit tea, spicy pineapple with boba, ginger milk salted foam, banh mi, and fried calamari. General consensus, it is overpriced compared to other boba shops in Bellaire. Drinks were not good. The spicy pineapple drink, you can't even taste the pineapple. You only taste the chamoy. Fried calamari has too much batter so it was more breaded than the amount of meat. SERVICE: Service is terrible. Called ahead to placed the order (I repeated my order twice and had it repeated back to me yet they still messed up my order) and they said estimated pick up time is 30 minutes. Came in, and they were scrambling to get my order ready. They even almost forgot some of my items if I didn't remind them. When we about to dig in, they completely forgot the avocado in the durian avocado smoothie. Instead of getting the ginger milk salted foam, we got a completely different drink which was a peach tea.... On top of that, they forgot boba for the spicy pineapple drink. We've driven by this place a few times and thought...what in the world is hotpot ice cream. Tonight we decided to find out. There was really loud music blasting outside, which almost made us turn around. But we moved forward and were rewarded by surprisingly good ice cream. First of all, the guy at the ice cream counter was really nice and let us take our time and sample some flavors. We got two scoops - pineapple (4/5) and lychee (5+/5). The ice cream is light and not too sweet. I loved the lychee - it was refreshing and had a great finish. The pineapple had just a hint of tart plus a great pineapple flavor. Both had tiny pieces of fruit (not chunky) which was a nice surprise. Hotpot ice cream is like fondue chocolate with ice cream, fruit, and maybe other dippers. Mystery solved. I think I'll go straight for the ice cream though. There were flavors I haven't seen in other places (more Asian flavors mixed with a handful of traditional Western ones). A bit expensive, but this is the first ice cream place that I don't find too sweet and heavy, leaving me thirsty after, so will be back. It's $4 for a scoop. I visited during their soft opening (9/25) and there were so many staff members working. There were at least 3 people working the register. One staff stood next to me essentially repeating what I ordered to the staff member that was inputting my order into the system. Another staff stood next to them to make sure it was done correctly. I really wanted to try their banh mi but they didn't have any. The only food items they had were fried items. I ordered 4 drinks, calamari and scoop of ice cream. Note, if you order 3 scoops you can only pick one flavor. This should definitely be noted on the menu. I had an issue with my order because their drinks are BOGO right? Well, I kept going back and forth with the staff that I ordered 4 drinks and 2 should be free but they only applied the discount to 1 drink. They said that the 2nd drink should be the same price for it to be free. I ordered D8. Durian smoothie and it's $6.45. The only other drink they have on the menu that is the same price is the Coconut Coffee which I didn't want to try. Another staff member came by and explained that if the second drink that is less than the higher valued drink then it'll be free. I went back and forth with them and they finally applied the discount on my 2nd drink. Below are the drinks that I ordered: -D8. Durian smoothie - why was there a sourness to this drink? -D5. Passionfruit smoothie -C3. Tea with Salted Apricot and Pineapple - this drink was just tea and tasted a bit bitter. There wasn't any saltiness from the apricot. -D4. I called 30 minutes ahead to order a few bánh mì for to go and told them I'll be there in 30 minutes. I even came 10 minutes after the given time to give them more time to prepare. I drove from my house, which took 20 minutes, to come pick up the bánh mì. When arrived, I told them that I'm here to pick up the bánh mì. The staff was confused and wasn't even aware of the order except for the girl who took the order on the phone. That was already the first sign. Then, she went to the kitchen and came back telling me that " the kitchen was out of the bánh mì and didn't notify them of the outage." So I told them I called more than 30 minutes ago so it should have been ready even before I arrive. They still said that the kitchen was out of the bánh mì 30 minutes ago and didn't notify them so they didn't know until now. That to me didn't make sense. Once she got my order there should have been a ticket made sent to the kitchen to prepare. If the kitchen didn't have the bánh mì, then once the kitchen saw the order sent they would have said something. That means that either the girl was incompetent to get the order and have it sent to the kitchen or the communication between the kitchen and front staff is incoherent. They didn't even check up on the order to see if the food was done or not. Even if they realized they didn't have the bánh mì, they didn't have the decency to call me that they didn't have the bánh mì before I made the drive wasting my gas and time. You guys need to re-train the staff to properly get and prepare the order or replace a whole new system to have better communication between the kitchen staff and front staff.
