Fantastic staff!! The food was fantastic. The dessert (especially the baklava) was to die for. Would 100% recommend for a great breakfast.

I was so in the mood for soup and grilled cheese. We just happened to stop here and that was the special for the day! We had cabbage beef soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. The soup was GREAT! I've already tried to recreate it at home (close, but not quite). Their iced tea was a little icky, but I was able to doctor it up. It was a comfortable place to try and one of those places you eat at away from home that it's almost bittersweet because it's too far away to go there often (1300 miles or so). read more

Went for brunch yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. I tried the breakfast platter with choc chip pancakes, home fries, bacon, eggs and added toast (don't judge me, I was hungry). The pancakes were huge and delicious, the eggs were made perfectly! Some of the other members in my party weren't crazy about their food, but I enjoyed mine and service was good! There were 6 of us and they were able to seat us relatively fast! Can't wait to try more of the menu! read more

Just ok, nothing special. We're down house hunting, and wanted to grab something other than fast foods. Oriental salad was not mixed greens as menu states, it was just iceberg. Combo sandwich was good, but could use more meat. Prices were a little high. Ample free parking. Due to pandemic, we cannot rate inside. Service was good, and fast. Popi's Place on Manatee Ave. has been our go to place for Sunday Brunch with family for years. Good food with large portions and fine, friendly service. Was concerned that things would drop off with the new franchisees, but no worries! The new proprietors are outstanding!! Extremely caring and friendly folks despite taking on a business during the COVID pandemic. Food quality is very good and the new line of pastries is outstanding. We were on vacation in Bradenton and found we needed some auto service at the Midas nearby. So, we walked to Popis Place for brunch by chance while the service work was completed. What a very pleasant surprise! We asked to be seated outside, and still got excellent attention. The food was great! Our waitress was charming and very attentive. She checked with us several times during the meal. They were changing out the Pepsi, so our waitress substituted a root beer to tide me over. A little while later, she brought out the Pepsi. That was so thoughtful! Good food and a special thanks to the waitresses. l only wish that we'd "discovered" Popis earlier during our vacation stay. read more

Bland, seasoning-free half roast chicken and burned boring moussaka, but good pasticio, lemon potatoes and dolmades. The chef for this place supervised the St Barbara's Greek Glendi fest this past February 2012. She really ought to be ashamed of herself. The food was totally lackluster, under-seasoned and lots of it was burned. My husband had the Greek chicken and it had NO seasoning whatsover on it. I had the mousakka and had to refuse several pieces offered to me that were quite obviously burned. Popi wandered the grounds with her husband, introducing herself. Honestly, she should've run away and hid. The food at St Barbs was really poor quality this year. Too bad, thanks to Popi. I hope they find another caterer next year, or they'll lose their following. read more

Saw a few mixed reviews online. But our experience was great! Service was a bit slow - but the rolls and food and dessert were worth it. Husband had open faced roast beef with salad, applesauce, mashed potatoes - all homemade. He licked up every bite. I had Greek burger and fries and they were delicious too. My friend an I eat here at least 2 times a week. Dinners off the board are amazing An the pies are homemade. I usually take a piece home. The coconut cream to die for as is the chocolate cream. I give it one star because I can't give zero ! Where to start! Made a reservation for a Mother's Day dinner Saturday night for 20 ! I spoke to the manager she said it was all good but when we came in a manager apparently from Ruskin said she didn't know anything so she didn't have the space for us and didn't think of calling me that morning. Anyways after being sat at different tables we ordered. We got there at 7 pm and got the food at 8:30 pm . My mother's steak that she ordered rare was over cooked (very well) so she asked the waitress to have it redone she said no kitchen is closed !. Well we waited one hour an half for the food and then you say kitchen close ! . Manager was nowhere to be found !. Everyone else's food was just ok or not good . Definitely never going there ever again . At least not this location. We also waited 10 minutes for the manager to get off her phone to pay our bills when we wanted to leave . read more

Great southern breakfast. Country ham and biscuits and cheesy grits were awesome! Clean place. Great service. Friendly efficient wait staff. Coffee served promptly with ice water. My husband had French toast and was also pleased. Would recommend. read more

The food is not great the philly chesse steak tasted freezer burned or maybe even spoiled either way it did not get eaten. We where given half off for that. I had the special shrimp and sausage Creole it was the highlight of the meal. The service sucks i mean it is really bad. We waited and waited and waited to order a dessert but we where never asked. Also there are nasty little crumbs in the crevices of the tables. Also this place is not kid friendly as far as dessert goes nothing for the kiddos. read more

Good food, good service at reasonable prices. I had a chili and cheese 3 egg omelet with home fries and toast The omelet was excellent. The chili is a little sweet and I don't care for green peppers in my chili so I picked them out The home fries were good. There could have been a few more on my plate...a little skimpy this time! Toast was toasted properly, lightly buttered and diagonally sliced. My companion had a reuben with fries. The fries were excellent. served hot and crispy. The reuben was so-so. Really need to take the pastrami apart and fry/heat the slices individually instead of in a stack. Takes 2 seconds longer to do and then it doesn't feel like you are eating a big wad of meat. 3rd time I have been here and I'll be back. Staff....please do something about the flies read more

Had the eggs Benedict with hash browns. The hollandaise sauce looked like it was out of a can. Tastes that way too. The hash browns came out cold. Sent them back and they came back totally greasy and burned. Waitress was a two star too. Heard the other waitresses bickering over tables. Owner showed up and he was a grouch too. Only go to Popis Too in Palmetto, I have been there for years and it is always five stars! So I tried the one closest and still have to go somewhere else for diner. Just ripped off by male manager/cashier:-( He asked "How was diner" I stated great waitresses! But I only got one of the two sides included with my diner, AND the waitress suggested one of the appetizers for a side. BUT THEN HE CHARGES ME FULL PRICE FOR THE " INCLUDED APPETIZER" so for a $10.99 special on their daily board diner cost $19.80 without the side and without a tip. Aaaargh None of this took into consideration that my fish was way under cooked ( catfish similar to raw sushi) )and french fries so raw that's the center crunched like a RAW potato. Was not able to stomach the raw food so I left it on the table for the manager to inspect. So to review: At the cash register the manager asks "How was diner?" So after his question I repeated my problem twice while maintaining eye contact and English is my native language and I don't stutter. Well no such luck with service or assistance with the problem! He didn't even apologize, say come back, rather just a look of "out of my way, I only work here and customers are a headache for me" he gave no verbal communication. "Never let it be said that this manager did anymore than the absolute minimum possible" Thank you for your service (sic) However two of the friendliest waitress! read more

My friend and I come here a lot . GREAT FOOD, GOOD PRICES, and friendly staff. I can't think of a better place to go to eat and visit with people we know. KEEP IT UP! This place is also close to home. Plus I've seen a older couple bring there dog and sit out side. Nice to see. Plus when your done eating you can go to Beals and walk off your meal..lol read more

Okay, I was dragged here with my grandparents today, and the only bright spot was my sister's idiotic but hilarious dancing to simple minds' 'don't you' that was playing during our meal. I ordered the lamb shank special; while the meat was falling off of the bone, I wouldn't exactly call it delicious (it had kind of an off flavor). I ordered a side salad and baked potato to go with it, which were both mediocre, as expected (though the Greek salad dressing came super oily, so much so that I had a hard time getting the oil to mix with the settled ingredients). I only ate about half if each. The plate itself was like a huge brown lake of grease and meat juice... kind of ew. The dinner rolls were obviously from a bag. My sister ordered the spaghetti with marinara and said that the pasta was way overcooked and sauce tasted like it was out of a can. Service was friendly and attentive though. Also, I am extremely confused at this place's description as a "Greek" restaurant..? The only Greek-ish items on the menu were a salad and gyro... Other than that, nothing. I was really looking forward to some pastichio or moussaka, but I left extremely disappointed. read more

The staff, specifically the old woman at the front desk, is extremely rude. It almost seems like one of the gag resturaunts where they're rude intentionally but it isn't. They just display a complete lack of hospitality, manners, and basic human decency. The food is slathered in mayo and extremely greasy. think the health inspector should check this place. I was impressed about how they redid the interior of this place, but that is about all. I have been there three times, and each time there has been an issue. First time they delivered a sandwich for my son that was not what I had ordered (wrong bread, wrong side, wrong toppings and it took over 10 minutes to get the servers attention to get it corrected), second time they completely forgot to bring out my appetizer of fried mushrooms that I had ordered, and the third time was the final straw where it has led me not to return. I was dining with my friend (who is a chef might I add); and he ordered the biscuits and gravy. When our food arrived, a sudden smell of a strong cheese came across the table. I had no clue what the hell could have smelled like cheese because neither of us ordered anything that consisted of cheese. It turned out the smell came from his biscuits and gravy. (WTH?) My friend took a couple of bites of it and then pushed the plate away claiming it was really horrible (he offered me a bite, but i happily declined the offer). He told the server that the cooks in the back might want to check on their gravy bc it was obviously bad (he should definitely know because he cooks food professionally himself). She came back claiming that the cooks had freshly prepared it that morning ( I don't think so, or if they did they used some expired ingredients). Now let me tell you; my friend can put some food down, but he was so put off by the taste of the biscuits and gravy that he completely lost his appetite (I have NEVER seen him lose his appetite over anything!) Every time I mention the cheesy B&G to my friend.....he grimaces and tells me to shut up.....so I think it has left him somewhat scarred with a bad memory and a bad taste in his mouth. read more
