This place is amazing for great breakfast and lunch. They always have the board filled with specials, along with a full menu. The wait staff is some of the best you can find. There's Mireaya Daniela, who are always near the counter welcoming guest with a smile. The servers have the same attention to what you need and make you feel like your their mom who just arrived home from a long journey. These amazing peole include Rene', Amy, and Jennifer. Sorry really wanted to love this local spot but I couldn't. Breakfast and lunch is probably all you can do since they close every day at 2:30. They have a huge menu however, you have to ask if they have it available. We had breakfast and were disappointed. The eggs were greasy, the bacon was barely cooked and I had to send it back to be cooked. The service was okay and the place is homey. Parking is easy. read more

Traveling and eating out on the trail always invoke the food and beverage tourists purchase, because I want to believe that it's what people come for although I never see it on their plates. I want to believe that people stop each other in the streets to talk about it, in the barbershops and bingo halls. But this is folly and and my little schoolboy dream dies another death in another small town. Chicken Fried Steak is just this meal and Popi did a good job with the smothering of gravy although not as chunky as I'd envisioned and the biscuits below deck showed only their edges when I attempted to raise her. Mind you I'm writing this review in Peaches Cafe because I just looked at the menu and what hit me right between the eyes? CFS, I'm tired of saying it and tired of writing it so it will remain an acronym hence forth. And I really can't tolerate chicken for breakfast but it's hugh in the south so I'll keep beating it into my mouth while trampsing the on the cities fringes and believe chance is soon in the air perhaps further off on the horizon. The staff is incredibly happy and fun and if they served alcohol, I'd probably belly up to the counter and pop a few at Popis. The music and wall art are also fun and 70ss cool although the Ringling Brothers memorabilia is strewn way too heavy from city hall to the trailer at the end of dirt road just before the swamp. And I know, prices are going up on everything and inflation and war and family and disease (sound familiar to anyone, hint - Revelations) however closing out at twenty two n change hurts more than just the pocket. It's a deeper hurt, one of days now and forever gone to never be seen nor experienced ever again, at least in my lifetime. read more

A reliable high-quality Greek diner-style breakfast and lunch restaurant. (It's pronounced Pope-ie's). On my first visit in midmorning it was easy to get a booth. I ordered coffee, orange juice, home fries, wheat toast, and a spinach and feta omelet. The omelet was quite good, reminding me of similar diner-style breakfasts. The toast, coffee, and orange juice were also good. I thought the home fries tasted a little too much like oil. I added some Crystal Hot Sauce and they were quite good. (They also have Chililu and Tabasco hot sauces.) Debi, my server, was very attentive and friendly and gave me a little history. She's been working at this location for nine years. (There used to be eight family-owned locations; there are four now.) She described the clientele as mostly local regulars. (I could see myself becoming a regular. There's a lot of variety on the menu to try on future visits.) One small annoyance was that the wifi wasn't working and my cell signal was terrible. Debi said they can't allow customers to use the wifi because it messes up their POS computer. (Someone needs better tech support!) The total bill with tip was $25. I'll certainly be back! read more

Chef owned and operated I stopped in this morning for breakfast. It is a friendly place, the staff seemed to know most of the customers. It wasn't busy on this Monday, giving me a choice of a booth, table, or a seat at the lunch counter. The lunch counter was where many of the regulars sat. My server was right over with a menu. For breakfast I decided on a traditional Eggs benedict. I say traditional because they also offer a Country Eggs Benedict, made with sausage patties, sausage gravy, and biscuits. Mine was with Canadian Bacon, English Muffin, and Hollandaise sauce. I also got their homefries. I thought my food was a bit bland, the Hollandaise sauce neither buttery or citrus flavored. Nice texture and a generous amount, and it still went well with the perfectly cooked eggs and the meat. The homefries was also bland, thin sliced fried potatoes, and that was it. I didn't notice any seasoning or additional ingredients like onion. Some salt and ketchup fixed them up, and it was also a generous sized serving. Service was fine, just one small stretch where I was out of coffee. As soon as I took my last bite someone appeared with my bill. Convenient parking right in front of the restaurant. There are a handful of Popi's restaurants in the Sarasota / Manatee area. read more

Food was average. The "pecan pancakes" had almost no pecans, and what was in it were tiny pieces. Very disappointing.

Truly disappointed with lunch on 3/28/24. Burger was tasteless and overcooked, plus I obviously got half an order of fries which had been sitting and were cold, while they added another half order of hot fries. Unacceptable at $13.00, and didn't have time to send it back. Add to this a place which needed a good cleaning, and the final insult of 3.5% being added to use a credit card (their actual cost is 3.0%), with NO POSTED NOTICE of such. This once decent place (in Ellenton), has forever lost a customer. read more

Love this joint. It's like your regular diner place around the corner. The staffs are always friendly and welcoming and food is relatively fast and delicious. My go to is crab cake Benedict which I've gotten probably everywhere around in town and this place has one of top five, especially considering usual price of it (and of course it's delicious). I love their corned beef hash as well. They have really good biscuits and are pretty big. All the menu items are quite cheap for amount and quality. Definitely place to check out! read more

If you remember the TV show, Cheers, this is the breakfast diner version of that. There's a "Norm" who sits at the counter and talks to everyone within earshot without concern as to whether or not they're listening. I had a good chorizo omelette, a pretty darn good cup of coffee, and phenomenal service by Shannon. This superstar effortlessly greets everyone warmly, handles all tables with ease and quickness, and made my early morning breakfast an absolute pleasure. We stumbled across Popi's Place while staying at an AirBnb close by.... & boy am I glad we did! This place is awesome! It has a family owned feel with phenomenal service & fantastic food. All of the staff were friendly & welcoming. Chris, our waitress, was amazing. She made sure we had everything we needed & had such a fantastic personality. Good service is few & far in between now a days.... Chris was GREAT! Also should mention that the steak & eggs was the best I've ever had. The steak was so full of flavor. Great choices on the menu but there was a list of foods/beer that the waitress read off that they didn't have. Stock it up!! Highly recommend the Lobster bisque - 5 of 5! I have been here a few times and the service and food was good. Today, it was exceptional. Chris, my waitress checked on my table often. Being a party of 1, that meant a lot. I ordered the country fried steak, which I did not like. Chris offered to replace it with something else. She checked with management and made it happen. So I had the Popi's omlette, which was very good. I love that they make their home fries with onions if you want them. Thanks Chris for taking good care of me! Nothing fancy just good at home cooking. After living in Sarasota for over 30 years we found this hidden gem.

This restaurant was located about a twenty minute walk from my AirBnB that I was staying at. I had breakfast there two days in a row. I ordered a vegetable omelet made with egg whites the first day which came with crispy hash browns and sourdough toast. The meal was filling and satisfying. The next day, one of the specials was fried pork chops, two for $9.95 with two eggs over easy and the excellent hash browns. This meal had enormous rich flavor and carried me all day at the trade show I attended after breakfast. Service both days was very good and highly attentive. We found this local chain on Yelp. The food was delicious!!! Shelly, our waitress, helped us out with menu. My wife had the fish and grits. The fish was Basa, that she loved. My daughter had French toast with a side of bacon. I then had the chicken biscuit breakfast with home fries. I thought I was getting something like a Chick Fil A biscuit. The plate was HUGE!!! Went in for lunch on a sunday My wife ordered the Turkey and stuffing dinner, It was burnt on the bottom, we sent it back and decided to split my chicken provo, (it was fair at best). Instead of recooking the meal, our waitress was nice but clueless. The check came and it was for the full amount of 2 dinners, I brought this to the attention of the manager and the Turkey dinner was removed, however they charged me for a side vegetable dish that was included with the dinner because I hadn't sent that back with the burnt dinner.
