Sorry really wanted to love this local spot but I couldn't. Breakfast and lunch is probably all you can do since they close every day at 2:30. They have a huge menu however, you have to ask if they have it available. We had breakfast and were disappointed. The eggs were greasy, the bacon was barely cooked and I had to send it back to be cooked. The service was okay and the place is homey. Parking is easy.

Traveling and eating out on the trail always invoke the food and beverage tourists purchase, because I want to believe that it's what people come for although I never see it on their plates. I want to believe that people stop each other in the streets to talk about it, in the barbershops and bingo halls. But this is folly and and my little schoolboy dream dies another death in another small town. Chicken Fried Steak is just this meal and Popi did a good job with the smothering of gravy although not as chunky as I'd envisioned and the biscuits below deck showed only their edges when I attempted to raise her. Mind you I'm writing this review in Peaches Cafe because I just looked at the menu and what hit me right between the eyes? CFS, I'm tired of saying it and tired of writing it so it will remain an acronym hence forth. And I really can't tolerate chicken for breakfast but it's hugh in the south so I'll keep beating it into my mouth while trampsing the on the cities fringes and believe chance is soon in the air perhaps further off on the horizon. The staff is incredibly happy and fun and if they served alcohol, I'd probably belly up to the counter and pop a few at Popis. The music and wall art are also fun and 70ss cool although the Ringling Brothers memorabilia is strewn way too heavy from city hall to the trailer at the end of dirt road just before the swamp. And I know, prices are going up on everything and inflation and war and family and disease (sound familiar to anyone, hint - Revelations) however closing out at twenty two n change hurts more than just the pocket. It's a deeper hurt, one of days now and forever gone to never be seen nor experienced ever again, at least in my lifetime.

Old timers local joint were all sitting at the very long bar. Servers were welcoming, happy servers and eager to please. Coffee was strong and good for an early morning. Eggs, veggie omelette and Home fries, raisin toast and biscuit with extra butter. were all cooked the way we liked everything. Loved all the pictures of the past on the walls.

The Eggs Benedict are exceptional: perfectly poached eggs with a rich, balanced hollandaise and ideal texture throughout. The macchiato is dialed in--smooth, properly extracted, and beautifully presented. The breakfast potatoes are outstanding: crisp on the outside, tender inside, and seasoned exactly right. The Croque Monsieur is superb--deeply savory, layered, and indulgent without being heavy. The bacon, egg, and cheddar sandwich hits every note you want in a classic breakfast sandwich, elevated with quality ingredients and execution. The brioche French toast is decadent yet refined, and the pastries are consistently excellent--fresh, flavorful, and clearly crafted with care. The atmosphere has a relaxed, cool vibe--stylish but comfortable. Station 400 is not the fanciest of places, in fact, it's like a diner but I love how consistent the food and service are. We've visited many times for breakfast and the wait staff has always been friendly and attentive. We like that our food comes out fast and just as expected. On most of our visits we have sat inside but recently we enjoyed the outdoor patio. Station 400 is located inside a circa 1850 train station from Indiana. Much of the original architecture is still in tact and it's easy to imagine travelers buying tickets and waiting for their trains.

They do provide water bowls for dogs on the outside patio. We went with a large party of 11 adults and a baby. Bonnie, our server, was fantastic. She got all of her orders accurately, and went above and beyond in taking photos of our family. Above and beyond meaning she literally stepped up and into a planter pot so that she could get our full group in one photo. The wait wasn't too bad for our food to come out considering we did have a large party. My favorites from station 400 are definitely the pancakes, but you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I will say they should change the truffle eggs Benedict to be named mushroom eggs Benedict because you really can't taste the truffle. Our group ordered a mix of pancakes, waffles, French toast bites, jalapeño biscuits and gravy, Club sandwich, steak and eggs, and more and everyone all enjoyed the food! I even ordered a club sandwich to go with regular fries and I popped it in the air fryer. Four hours later. It was still perfect and toasted. Loved all the cheese on there. Shoutout again to Bonnie if you go to station 400, I would recommend her to be your server.

I was seated facing a wall so I didn't get a good long look at my surroundings but between what I did see and looking at photos posted on Yelp the theme seems to be chickens. Our server was friendly and available to answer any questions as we spent time looking over the menu. I settled on The Hitman, a double patty smashed burger with American cheese, hen sauce, fried mozzarella, Nueske's bacon, with a side of garlic parm fries. It isn't listed on the online menu but there is a note the menu changes frequently so it may not match the day's offering. Let me start by saying that two of the people at my table got salads and were disappointed that there was too much lettuce and too little other stuff. With that out of the way, let me talk about The Hitman, which I loved. What is Nueske bacon? This is a special smoked flavorful bacon made by the Nueske family. Fork & Hen uses thick cut, and there were two slices on my burger. My burger towered so high there was no hope of picking it up, so I attacked it with knife and fork. Being made with Focaccia bread certainly added to the height, but so did a thick block of mozzzrella cheese. The cheese, melted on the inside and crispy on the outside, was substantial. I would be careful biting into a hot block of melted cheese, think pizza mouth. In my photo I broke into one corner to show that is cheese, so much cheese. The burger patty part topped with American cheese was by itself great, like you might find at a home cookout or Smashburgers. Other toppings were there but for me this was meat and a lot of cheese. And as much bread as you want. I loved my surprising good cheeseburger.
