If you've been to station 400 in Sarasota you'll know it has a lot of charm and vintage character to it; unfortunately the LWR location does not have anywhere near the same amount of charm - it kinda feels just like any other modern construct brunch restaurant. I went for the lobster omelette which is their signature item : I thought it was good but also not wowed by it. In terms of portion size, id say they're catering for people who eat smaller amount. We came to Station 400 for brunch while we were in town as it was recommended as a good local flavor by those who we visited. I will say it did not disappoint. The ambiance itself had a bit of cozy diner vibe in a small town to it. The service was on par for the area. As with a lot of places in the area, their hours of operation are mornings to afternoons. Apparently, they do not do dinner, which as a New Yorker seems strange but who am I to argue against what is customary there. The food definitely stands out for the area. I had the fried chicken sandwich and sampled some buttermilk pancakes. Both were very tasty and filling. I would definitely recommend coming in for breakfast/brunch. 3.5 stars. We came for the train (for the kids) but we were rather disappointed by it. The track runs high up, around the center of the restaurant, above the booth area where we were sitting. The placement of the train track makes it hard for most people to see, regardless of where you're seated. Plus the train was only one black locomotive with two black cars. That's it. The restaurant itself is comfortable and bright, I just wish that the train theme was more prominent. Taste and presentation wise, food was good. I just wish that portions were a tad larger. The Crabby Patty had one nice big crab cake but just one poached egg - I was hoping for two. (And a single egg was not an option on the sides list). The fruit cup was tiny. My husband's Spanish omelette was tasty but the side of hash browns seemed a little stingy. They messed up our pancake order twice - in the end we just ate what we got, and it was fine, just not what I was expecting (and not quite as fluffy as pancakes I've had elsewhere). If you want consistently good breakfast at a reasonable price, with excellent service: I recommend station 400. My kids go bonkers over the Nutella waffles! And the eggs Benedict was excellent. The kids sliders got my sons stamp of approval (which is rare!). We like the train that goes around the restaurant and that there is outdoor seating. While the waitress was nice, she chose to spend all of her time with a couple who were definitely regulars. This was not a big deal, but would have been nice to not feel like an outsider. I have been to other sarasota restaurants with regulars and they all were much more welcoming. The food... eh.... I had the truffled eggs Benedict with hash browns and found them lacking I. Flavor. Gave this a try as I had never been before. I had a station 400 omelette which was poached lobster, blue crab with a truffle hollandaise sauce, cheesy grits, & gluten free toast. My daughter had Brians lump crabmeat sandwich with Parmesan French fries. My daughter was delighted with her sandwich as it has lots of crabmeat. The atmosphere was very nice and all the employees were amazing. They had a great breakfast menu and the prices are amazing. The Huevos Gringos meal was $13.50 and the Mexican omelette was also $13.50. Coffee was $3.99 and OJ was $4.25. Our total bill without the tip was $42.53. The food tasted amazing!!! Not my fav. The jalapeño cheddar biscuit was misleading because it did not have jalapeño or cheddar in it. They were separate. Biscuit. Slice of cheese. Jalapeños on top.
