The waitress was so sweet and very attentive. I ordered the ham and cheese omelette which was cooked to perfection. Served with hash browns also very tasty. Along with an ice tea. Popi's in Palmetto, FLA is the homestyle breakfast place to enjoy common morning selections everyday until 3pm. Was promptly greeted and seated at their largest table upon arrival. Although the pumpkin pancake batter required more flavor/sugar, the eggs were prepared perfectly and the bacon was crispy, as requested. Additionally, my family breakfast party of eight enjoyed tasty french toast as well as huge specialty omelets with crispy hash browns. Finally, all our items were washed down with both hot and ice cold coffees which their brews were definetly competitive with and similar to Duncan Donuts. I just ordered a Gyro from this place. I asked for well done fries. They came out nearly cooked and limp. The Tasziki sauce was flavorless. Maybe 6 small pieces of tomato. That is the worst example of a Gyro I have ever encountered. I stopped going there years ago,and I thought. Let me try a delivery. Never again. read more

Go to Waffle House. Servers act like they don't want you there. Food quality to is poor to say the least. Couldn't even cook t he hash browns right were still cold. Keep trying to give this place a chance but it is astonishing people still go back to this place. Service is always the best!! Food has been very consistent and good. I would have rated it a 4, but when I got my bill, there was a 30% increase in price. What used to be $9.99 including tax is now $12.59. My gratuity will stay the same so it will still benefit my server. So I guess I will have to make the cuts elsewhere and not order a drink. Atmosphere - Good. Your typical diner type atmosphere. The restaurant has about a dozen booths and another dozen four tops. Service - Good. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. My only issue was that, when served, the entree was luke warm. Food - Good. The menu is diverse and is pretty much what you might find at a family diner. I ordered a cup of the clam chowder and the chopped steak dinner with mashed potatoes. The restaurant ran out of soup cups and offered a bowl of soup instead. The soup was hot and tasted good, but was so thick that it was more like a stew. The chopped steak was ample and was decent. However, it was warm, not hot. It was close to closing time and so returning to was not practical. Overall Value - Good. Nothing special and not a place that I would patronize again. read more

I was really in the mood for some good comfort food and thought this place would fit the bill. At 7 pm on a Saturday, there were plenty of empty tables and the atmosphere is decent. Our server was quick to take our drink order and even made us a fresh pot of decaf coffee. The menu is large and has something for everyone. I settled on a cup of the Lemon chicken soup and the open faced roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes. The soup arrived quickly and was huge for a cup, but they said it was because they ran out of cups and used a bowl. The first bite had quite the lemon tang to it, but I got used to it the more I ate. There was plenty of chicken and the flavor was good. The most bizarre thing was I found 2 whole basil leaves in my bowl. I always heard that it's very unsafe to serve food with the basil leaves. My sandwich arrived and looked ok, but it really wasn't. It was written up as being slow cooked all day, but it was very tough. I had to cut it up in small pieces so I could chew it. Besides that, the potatoes were barely warm and the sandwich wasn't any warmer. Ugh! read more

My co-workers have been raving about the food at Popi's so I decided to join them today. When we walked up there was a patron sitting out on the patio smoking a cigarette (this should not have been permitted). We walked in and took our own seat, the waitress can to bring us menus & take our drink order. She was pleasant but seemed bored with her job. I order the fish fingers (came w/fries & veggies), as suggested by my co-workers. Then the waitress also brought out some rolls. The fish was hot & cooked perfectly...moist on the inside & nice & crunchy on the outside. The fries we're good & so was the BBQ sauce that I ordered on the side. The rolls were good but would have been better I they were warm. The vegetables were the worst...they were cold & flavorless. Overall, not worth the $12 I spent but I'll go back to try other menu items. At best that should have been a $6-$7 meal. This place is very diner like but not a lot of personality. It is not that there was anything wrong with the joint or the servers, it is just that the breakfast end of their cooking is heavy, greasy, rich and fatty. I think a lot of us are going for bright flavors and something not so heavy with fat and grease these days. My wife put it best when she said "it all tastes grey". I had eggs benedict and she had country benedict. The portions are great, but it is a large portion of food we didn't care for at all. We are frequenters of the #4 restaurant and only eat lunch there so I can't speak for their breakfast, I imagine it is quite the same. Go to Popi's Place Too for breakfast if you want a heavy, heavy breakfast, otherwise just stick to the lunch/dinner menu. It is much better. read more

We've gone here for years, used to go weekly, as did many local friends. The quality has been declining for a few years. When the owners were on site more it was much better, I haven't seen Popi in several visits. Popis son used to be involved, I've seen him once... he was taking and eating but not really involved. We'll probably stay in Bradenton and not frequent there as the food quality has gone down substantially. read more

First the atmosphere is very inviting. We were greater an seated promptly. My kids were enchanted by the saltwater fish tank the entire meal. The service was also very fast and friendly.
