Okay, I've grabbed takeout and also enjoyed many lunches here and it's time to give D's their flowers! I'd go as far to say this is THE top lunch spot in little Palmetto. The ambiance is warm & inviting, service is friendly, and you'll feel like a local here. You can't go wrong with their breakfast options any time of day, and I've truly never had an entree that wasn't great. Nice little breakfast spot. I had a good veggie omelette that I changed up with addition and deletions of certain veggies. No problem and it was done to my liking. Not overdone and dry which is always appreciated. Grits were just ok--probably instant. . Upcharge for an English muffin kind of put me off. Prompt service. It's a little noisy but it didn't bother me too much, but if you want a peaceful breakfast it's probably not for you. read more

I had a lovely little quick lunch here a couple of weeks ago. I was in town for a wedding nearby and popped in with only a short amount of time to spare. It was busy and obviously a popular spot with the locals. I was seated right away and all service was quick which helped me a lot. They have diner food and Greek/Mediterranean food so I am assuming the owners may be from there too. I ordered a classic cheeseburger and fries. I absolutely love this place! It's deceptively cute and spacious inside for starters. LOVE the ambiance! The service is excellent! Staff is very friendly and courteous. The menu has so many delicious looking choices that I can't wait to return. Pig in the blankets is delicious! I highly recommend. The Riverwalk skillet consists of light and fluffy eggs, hash browns, onion, peppers, tomatoes, sausage, and jalapeños. I also asked for a fruit cup and I received fresh pineapple and fresh blueberries-no bottled fruit here. Both were delicious. I thought the portions were large and brought half of mine home. I didn't know what to get, it all looked so good. I ended up getting the steak and mushroom wrap, my husband had the pancake tacos and brother-in-law the D's skillet. When I bit into my wrap my taste buds began to do a happy dance. It was sooo good! My hubby and brother-in-law said they really enjoyed their food as well. Our waiter was wonderful. This place is a very quaint establishment. Very good service and friendly ownership. Tucked away in an odd place near the manatee river, you will enjoy the ambience as well as the good food. A bit pricey for certain items, but overall worth it. Be sure you bring your patient pants, as it can get very busy for a small place. read more

Unfortuently, I was very dissatisfied. The gyro tasted like a chalupa from Taco Bell, the meat was bland and the The tzatziki sauce tasted like sour cream. The eggplant dip tasted like smoked flavor and nothing more. Thank goodness for the French fries because that's all I ate for lunch. read more

WOW - highly recommend! Stumbled upon this gem while trying to find a place our whole family could eat something they liked. PHENOMENAL food! Our boys got pancakes and the breakfast burger. We loved coming to D's. Always friendly service and good food. One of our favorites we found a couple years ago; a fried chicken sandwich with ham and Swiss "Malibu Chicken". The past 2 time were very disappointing! Management decided to change the recipe to a less expensive frozen chicken patty and more cost effective pre sliced deli ham. It's definitely hard running a small local business and there's always a battle to keep margins. That said I would gladly pay another dollar or 2 for a better a food product, and suspect others would to. Please let us know if the original recipe returns.....so will we. If you had to decide between good food and bad service, or bad service and good service? What would you choose.....please comment. read more

In short: More like $$ and just okay breakfast food. Came here for breakfast on a Saturday with another adult and three kids. The server was very slow from the start.. I saw her attend to tables twice as much as ours, I'm not one to usually complain on service but this was too obvious. We requested two waters from the start. After our food came, we requested them again. I then saw our server grab a pitcher of water and refill the table next to us... then she went and got our waters. It felt somewhat deliberate. Anyway... I had the D's skillet. It was good but nothing special. Lots of meat.. very little seasonings.The kids had the Mickey Mouse pancake which was a decent size and more than enough for them. The prices reflect the tourist town atmosphere despite the place having a greasy spoon feel. I would not come back again. read more

Oh my goodness we were visiting from Maryland and we got breakfast there two days in a row because it was so good! Everyone was so nice the service was so quick. And being in there feels so homey.
