I will say that this is an amazing spot! Great customer service and the food is good. I have went twice each time they have a new menu and the food is past amazing. The drinks are really good. The lemonades are really good. Everything is fresh and made to order. I love how they treat you and interact with you to make sure you like your food and everything is to your liking. If you are in Jarrell this area is the best spot in town!

Nice place to go to sit outside in Jarrell but very disappointed in their chicken basket with waffle fries for $10.00. Chicken nugget's

The gumbo here is legit! And don't miss out when they do shrimp and grits, roast beef, or the bread pudding!

If you're looking for the best Cajun food around then look no further than PopPop's!!! Hands down the best bowl of gumbo I've ever had, and if a bowl isn't enough he'll sell you a gallon! You want it spicy? You sure?? You got it!! My other favorites are his shrimp and grits (seriously....THE BEST) etouffee, stuffed tenderloin, Mississippi pot roast, jambalaya, sausage balls....ok I'm drooling.... Aside from his classics he's always adding new and fun stuff to try like the fried lobster...you read that right, fried. lobster. YUM. The fried food is always on point but honestly...if you come to PopPop's to only get chicken tenders...you're selling yourself short. Oh, and you HAVE to go when it's crawfish season....he drives to Louisiana to get the big bois and the flavor and spice are on point!!! PopPop also caters and no party is too big! He treats you like family and there's nothing he wouldn't do to ensure you aren't absolutely satisfied with your meal, so go give 'em a try!!

I could write sonnets about Poppop's gumbo. Delicious, chicken and sausage gumbo over dirty rice. I chose the "spicy" option that was catered for my job's Labor Day party and as a native southeast Texan I can confirm, this is the best gumbo you will find in central Texas. The closest thing to authentic Louisiana cooking you will find. Every bite was more delicious than the last.

Awesome staff and even better food! Their gumbo is perfect and they offer different peppers to spice it up! Very good fried pickles. Highly recommend making a trip up to see them :)

Yummy !!! Our spring break was made !!! Gumbo and the most awesome customer service! We are so lucky

So when is this place actually open? Not on the hours listed on Yelp. I tried to go for lunch on Friday and nada.

Our apologies. We were open at noon but the park didn’t have enough business. I forgot to update the hours. Thank you for letting us know. We’ll be there Friday at 4:00 if you would like to stop by and receive a free order of gumbo for your… Read more

We each had a catfish and shrimp combo and the servings were generous and perfectly seasoned. The owner, Antonio, was very enthusiastic and made our visit a fun outing. He really worked the crowd going table to table checking on customers and thanking them for coming. The restaurant had a really festive atmosphere like one big family. We will definitely be back to try the chicken wings. They looked delicious on others' plates.

THIS SH** LITERALLLY WHIPPED UP SOUL!!!!…read more Hands down, this is the best Soul Food in Austin, TX. My girlfriend and I have been here 4 times in counting. Every time we come, we have been satisfied. This is a black-owned restaurant and babiiesss, this is one for the books. The best times to come are early before 5. SUNDAYS ARE SUPER BUSY, (line out the door busy), so beware of that. Let's start with the service, the owner is HIM. Every time we've come, he's greeting everyone that comes in with a calm, cool, welcoming, and assured demeanor about himself while taking orders. When he has the chance, he comes by the tables and checks in with everyone, making sure everyone is satisfied and the place is up to his standards. This man is the definition of #HANDSON! It's needed. He doesn't know it, but we really value him. The Ambiance is usually way more busier, energetic like. However, today we came closer to opening @ 11:15am and was able to enjoy sitting down without the rush. It's always great music playing, so you know I'm jamming :P The cooks keep hair nets on their heads and gloves on. It's somewhat an open window kitchen so that's cool too. There's usually a cleaning lady going around making sure the place stays clean and tables rotating. The prices aren't bad. They did just increase since the last we been here, but they're still affordable. Now for the food WITH SOULLLL... Since we've been here so many times, I'll give you the MUST TRYs! These are delicious, delightful and your tastebuds will love you for it. Plus the portions are generous and never lack in flavor. #ComfortingFood 1. Oxtail Eggrolls $14 2. Cheezy Mac (regular) $6 3. Sweet Glazed Yams (regular) $6 4. Mean Greens (regular) $6 5. Pistachio Brownie (when available) 6. Sweet Tea $3.75 7. Fried Cabbage (Weekend Side Special) My rating... this place is definitive of SOUL. It's consistent, clean, and carries the vibes! One thing about it, whether you're vegetarian or loving the meat, you'll find something to love that will lighten your soul. It's been hard to find QUALITY food here in Austin, but we found it in 'WHIP MY SOUL'. So GO, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! You won't be disappointed.

I was definitely sad, but hey...no worries I did try something else! I got the Cheesesteak with a side of fries (loved the unique cut) and a honey mustard sauce for dipping. The food was overall good, I just wished that the meat was finely chopped and seasoned just a tad bit more, literally a tad! Service was quick and my food was super fresh; I messed up for not eating it there because my sandwich bread roll was a little soggy on the bottom, but that was my fault for taking it home lol! They did advise that they will be adding some Cajun eats to the menu, that's got me sold to come back. The staff was friendly and I most certainly loved the girl with the ginger hair, she's super awesome and had a smile on her face! Y'all better keep her! Another female staff member gave me a compliment on my sandals, keep her too! The inside is very soft and comfortable. I didn't snap many photos since there were other customers eating with children. Definitely a place to have a nice bite and a cute lunch date.

Our server was very sweet and efficient- there when we needed her but not hovering. The food is glorious. They are a bit on the expensive side, but the food is so good we did not mind the prices. I had the chicken and waffles - nicely crisp chicken breast with very tasty waffles. My husband and granddaughter-in-law had the steak and eggs - with really good potatoes and onions; both were SO impressed with the flavor and the preparation. (I will be having this next time!). My grandson had 'Hong Kong' French toast, which I believe was made with Japanese milk bread and had berries and a custard. Also came with eggs and bacon. He could not speak highly enough about it. The portions are LARGE. We all took food home. I shared my plate with my great granddaughter (2 yrs) and still took food home! Honestly, we had booked another restaurant for the weekend of Mother's Day (day before) and we canceled that reservation so that we could go back to Farmers Commons! It's that good. Also, all the folks working when we were there were very sweet with my great granddaughter; we appreciated that. HIGHLY recommend for brunch. Now i want to try dinner too!
