I've heard about this place since I moved here a few years ago, and I finally made the effort to come by. What an idiot I was!!! So many years of awesome food missed out on!!! I got a mixed combo and it was great. They apparently cook to order, so it took a few minutes, but it was well worth the wait! Perfectly crispy hot and juicy fried chicken and fried okra, and tasty homemade tasting potato salad. I couldn't pass on the fried apple pie. It was crunchy with cinnamon spiced apples inside. Parking is a pain, but awesome food is worthy a little struggle. Haha. I'll be back. It's close to my office which might prove dangerous in terms of my waistline. read more

Ernies Fried Chicken 08-02-24 I stopped by to get lunch It's a small place but nice. I used the order window and waited in my car till they called my name. We had; Chicken Fried Steak with Mashed Potatoes and Fries. Tasted like processed Steak that came frozen. But it was good with the gravy and potatoes. Steak Finger Basket with Fries. Same as the Chicken Fried Steak 9 Piece Chicken Tenders. Tender and good. I also got 1/2 Dz Chicken Livers that were battered well and had good flavor. I Ordered the Catfish Only which came with Tarter Sauce and Two Hushpuppies. Good Cornmeal Batter and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. All in all it was OK. Nothing special but still good. I would go back to try their Fried Chicken and Breakfast Tacos! The employee that waited on me was very friendly and nice. I first ate here when I was young, probably 20 years ago, and even tho I live in a Alabama now I have went out of my way to go thru Belton again just for Ernie's! It hasn't changed at all! I even brought my husband twice and he loved it!! This really is some of the best fried chicken I've had. I hope this place never changes and I can't wait to come back. read more

Walked in was loud hot and sponge bob. Was told to get a fat burrito so that's what I got Only drinks are cans for $1 so have that in mind. So I find a miss match table with wobbly chair. Doesn't look like much driving pass the place but the chicken was nice in fresh the fries could use some improvements. The prices are really high.... for a hole in the wall. So this little dive chicken place is well known. My husband loves the chicken there BTW! We did have a bad experience this past Saturday morning we were on our way out of town wanted to try the breakfast burrito. We called in our order so we could just pick it up on the way out. They said it would take 20mins on the phone once we got there had to wait another 10mins! I got the fat ernies burrito (which is suppose to have everything) but in reality it was just a potato burrito and my husband got a egg, bacon n cheese BURRITO and in reality was a TACO. Atmosphere is somewhat of a dive but the chicken was good. It was moist and I liked the breading. It did take awhile to get our order and we only got one fork for the two of us. I would eat there again and would like to try the breakfast burritos. read more

I have been going here since I was a kid. The Fat Ernie is what I like many others always get. Although they have become smaller since i was a kid they are still relatively the same. The staff the last time I was there and many other times juat don't seem to care that much, Its unfortunate. The building screams do not eat here I realized this years ago but every once in a while I'll get the hankering for one of those dang burritos. Ok so at first thing I thought was this place looks like a rinky dink hole in the wall it looks like it has OK food. So I tried it and omg the tacos are awesome!!!! The hot sauce was so amazing! The bacon was super crispy (which I love.) I hate when places have rubbery bacon it's gross. The sauce has just enough of a kick to it and had great amounts of flavor. Over all if I could give this place 10 starts for their breakfast tacos I would!! I can't wait to try the rest of their menu :) read more

Their "fat ernies" with bacon egg n cheese and Potatoe are so amazing and HUGE!!!! A little high priced I think but you'll never have a bf burrito so good. And the salsa they make goes perfect with it . I try to go atleast once a week. Thankfully they sell bf tacos till 1 pm. read more

We place large orders here often for our office, but sadly as of today there was an issue were a teenager placed an order and messed up. We called the location to let them know about the issues and was hoping to get replacements if the tacos and burritos that were messed up. Come to find out the mother of the teen was the owner. She got upset with us that we were complaining and told us we would have to pickup the replace ta and pay for the order. This is not how you keep people coming to a run down location. I personally love supporting little places like this but at this time I'm taking the owners words to heart and finding another breakfast place for me and my company. If your in the belton area looking for breakfast avoid this location at all cost to show them they should focus on customer service and food quality more than making employees look good that are family. All this seems a waste for a correction that would have only cost a max of $5.00 now they lost so much more from us not going anymore. read more

I have been going here for years. Always had decent service and good food. This morning I drove to get some fats for me and my fam. When I got home I realized they had made my burrito incorrectly in a way that left me unable to eat it. I called and let then know, and they told me that their a manager was out on a delivery and would contact me back when he returned. After several hours of no return call I called them back. They told me they forgot and if I wanted to, I could drive all the eat back up there and they would give me another. Their service is terrible. They know it, and don't care. read more
