If the locals are here, you know it's got to be good! I recently had a breakfast date with my mother at Pops Country Cafe in Hemet, and we both really enjoyed our meals. I ordered the Greek omelette with hash browns, and the omelette was packed with fresh ingredients and flavor. Everything tasted freshly prepared, and the portion was definitely satisfying. My mother ordered the French toast breakfast and was pleasantly surprised by how fresh and flavorful everything was. It made for a really nice breakfast together. And I have to mention Tammy, she is absolutely the most amazing waitress! Friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. She made an already enjoyable breakfast experience even better. There's something about a busy local breakfast spot that tells you you've probably made the right choice, and Pops Country Cafe has that comfortable, hometown feel. Nice little diner hidden away in a strip mall off of Florida street. Service was nice and friendly. I ordered the big omelette and man was it HUGE! Worth every bit of the $18. I stopped by with a large party of friends, and we were immediately seated at a large table in the middle. Our server was very attentive to everyone joining in and made sure first thing to check if we were paying together or separate. She did a fantastic job making sure to get all of our orders in quickly while serving with a smile. While waiting for our meals, we got to enjoy the decorations all around and even saw one item that asks you to guess what it's used for. Everyone was very kind, warm, and welcoming to us and our large party. The food itself was very delicious. I got the corned beef skillet and it was very hearty and flavorful without being too over seasoned. It paired very nicely with the home style potatoes for a delicious bite each time. One of the best breakfast places in town. My favorite dish here is the country fried steak and eggs. It's cooked differently. It's not deep fried. It's cooked on top of the flat top. All the food here is really good. Big portions. Go home full and probably with leftovers. The staff here are amazing. They take care of you whatever you need and then I love the atmosphere. I brought my mom here for her first time, as this was a favorite breakfast spot for me years ago. When we walked in the server was caught up in gossip with another lady and did not greet us so we stood around for a couple minutes before the server told us to sit anywhere, still did not greet us and went straight back to her conversation. So we sat ourselves and waited a couple minutes before the server came and tossed menus on the table, one landing on my moms fork, server still did not greet us and went back again to her conversation. So I turned to see who she was having such an important conversation with and I saw it was another employee. And at this point, I lost my appetite. She came back to the table after a few more minutes of gossip and asked what we want to drink, still with no greeting... Order via GrubHub a week ago and received yet another failed attempt at Chicken Fried Steak. The rest of my order was delicious but the steak had no breading whatsoever and was just a tough steak smothered in gravy. This place was ABSOLUTELY amazing in all ways! It checked all the boxes for me! Great food, THE BEST SERVICE, and it wasn't too loud and crazy! Tammy was so sweet and a great host! Definitely coming back here soon and if you are in the area I would definitely make the stop here! I also love that it wasn't CRAZY expensive and it was affordable for me and my family! Plus the water was good and the ice was the crushed ice and SOOO GOOD!!! My brother and I usually search for places to have breakfast on weekends, and I saw this one on yelp and decided to check it out. The place is small but clean. We were seated as soon as we came in, and within a few minutes we ordered the breakfast. There is only one waitress but she's very courteous and efficient. There were not too many people but after awhile the place got busier. The food is great. The portions are generous and the price is comparable to other restaurants. There are plenty of items on the menu to choose from. I would definitely recommend this place. Nice atmosphere and not too much noise when compared to larger restaurants. read more

This was my first time trying Pop's Country Cafe and I was not impressed at all. I ordered the Big Big breakfast which was a big disappointment. My eggs were overcooked (not over easy), the home fries were a flavorless mess with bellpepper and onions that were crunchy, the biscuits were dry and tasted old, the gravy was flavorless and super thick (the sausage wasn't fully cooked, the ham wasn't good either it didn't have that seared look and flavor most breakfast ham has. The bacon was a bit tough as if it had been warmed in the microwave. This food was not good at all and I won't be going back. read more

Even though it's in a strip mall the atmosphere is pretty decent. Feels like a lot of locals eat here. The problem was the food really. My wife's hashbrowns were mushy. She actually thought they had served her the wrong dish. The country fried steak was just a fried flap or skirt steak. It wasn't what you'd typically expect when ordering country fried steak covered in crust etc... it was just a thin piece of fried meat with gravy thrown on it. There's a sign written on notebook paper at the counter declaring a $1 surcharge for any meal made with eggs. I didn't see it till I was AT the counter paying. The bathroom situation is less than ideal. You have to walk through the kitchen to get to it. I do appreciate unique diners though. Not sure I want to live in a world where you have two options IHOP or Denny's but, this place could use a little work. read more

The Biscuits & Gravy was 5/5 good. Large portions and just the place to go if you're wanting a great breakfast. Location: Strip mall with plenty of parking. It's easy to miss if you're not looking for it. It's a bit of a hole-in-the wall that I'm sure many wish was bigger thought I think they have about 6 tables and I'd be surprised if it isn't backed up on Saturday or Sunday mornings. If you're looking for a commercialized restaurant that tastes ordinary with the same dull food selections you can find anywhere, don't waste your time. You won't find any of that here which is why I absolutely love everything about it!!! You better come while starving because the portions are HUGE (don't worry, they provide to-go containers ). Oh, and do yourself a favor and get biscuits & gravy while there. Had me missing my Grandma. I love that the cook puts his own spin on things like the country fried steak, home fries, grilled cheese, etc. That in itself is enough to keep me coming back, but the prices and service are great too.
