We've passed by this little hidden gem quite a few times and finally decided to stop in and try it yesterday. I'm sooooo glad we did!! Yes it's a small place but oh my the food was delicious! I had the best pancakes I've ever had and they came with a huge sausage patty and eggs. My husband had a huge Ortega burger with fries and my mother in law had a tuna sandwich with baked beans. The food was so delicious that we are going back again today! The service was great and we loved the quaint atmosphere. Was in Hemet doing a favor for a friend when I stopped in to Pop's to pick up a breakfast burrito for the long drive back to the South Bay. Ordered chicken fried steak, crispy hash browns, gravy on side. Meat was not battered at all. That's what we Texans like about chicken fried steak and tenderness. That crunch. There was absolutely no batter. Looked like a piece of liver except meat was so grisly could not cut it. No gravy on side so that was missing. Ugh Hash Browns were soggy. Pops' is a very small breakfast and lunch joint here in Hemet. I've only had a few breakfasts here, there so that is what I will discuss. First of all, you will get personal service. There's only about six tables, so your going to get to know your waitress. I think that's a good thing. I've always had good service here. The portions are generous, but for me, nothing particularly, sets the food apart from most other local places. In my opinion, yes it's good, but nothing special. Put me down for five stars as well. I've been here a few times and I never left hungry or unsatisfied, that's for sure. Good breakfast foods, and the fried steak was so big I couldn't finish it, a rarity for me. What sets them over the top for me is their pancakes. Mia's pancakes are okay, but Pop's pancakes are the real deal. They bring me back to my childhood live for pancakes. That old Chilly Willy cartoon where he's making flap jacks...one bite and I'm back to being an 8 year old, watching that episode and salivating. Get the pancakes! read more

Great little mom-and-pop diner with home-made and yummy food. Breakfast is a special treat and soups, deserts and the whole menu is fabulous. Staff is super nice, warm and welcoming. It's a cozy place for a hearty breakfast. Last time we had breakfast, on a whim, we took home some soup and desert. This is the best salad place in town! I go here at least 3 times a week for the grilled chicken salad! It's not on the menu, but you just ask for the crispy chicken salad with grilled chicken. Loads of mixed greens, not cheap iceberg, chunks and I mean chunks of avocado. They treat you like family and if you are lucky, the waitress Tammy may sing-a-long with a song on the radio! Stopped in there for lunch, terrible choice, this has to be some of the worst food I have ever tried! I had a Frisco Melt that was a patty and 'grilled' onions between grilled bread. Everything was dripping with grease - I know melts are greasy but this left my fingers covered with an oily sheen. The sparse onions were slick with grease too. The burger was like a greasy, warmed over, frozen patty. I couldn't even get through half of the sandwich. Fries were good though. My wife's ham and cheese melt was in a similar condition. Our friend sandwich was inedible too, as were her onion rings. Service was sloppy, never checked to see if we needed refills. The wall is replete with cute signs, one said "Warm beer, bad food, poor service." About sums it up, two out of three ain't bad $32 for junk, over half of it left on the table. read more
