Scrumptious sandwiches for breakfast and the coolest old-school-counter-in-a-general-store scenario one could ask for.

Sat outside on the dock. Inexpensive but pleasantly surprised by the freshness and quality of the lunch that was served.

We arrived early and found a spot in the very small lot they have next to the building. There were plenty of street spots open within walking distance as well. The whole area fills up starting in late morning, so I would plan your trip and know all of your parking options in advance so that you aren't driving 5 miles an hour down the road looking for parking. LOL There is usually a wait, so just be prepared for it. I was able to put our name on the list and we walked around the area. Our server was great - wow was she energetic. Zipping around, smiling and engaging with all of the customers. Our food was delicious!! The sticky bun...we managed to snag one of the last few left. Again, get there early if you don't want to miss out. The corned beef hash - amazing Biscuits - YUM Gravy - savory goodness. Home fries - flavorful and not too greasy. Eggs - perfect! I highly recommend this place and I hope to be able to return again soon, during the non-tourist season.

This cozy breakfast and lunch spot is popular with locals and visitors, so you'll likely have to wait for a table. It is definitely worth the wait, but If you're in a hurry, check to see if a seat is available at the counter. Service at Home Kitchen is warm and welcoming, and you're in for a treat if you're lucky enough to sit in Zan's area (short for Suzanne). I couldn't decide between a tuna sandwich or a grilled cheese, and she suggested combining both into a tuna melt. Brilliant! Along with a shared order of large fries, it was a tasty and filling lunch. The best part? All of it was gluten free! Home Kitchen bakes their own GF bread and pastries, and they are far superior to grocery-store GF baked goods. Even though we were sated from lunch, Zan encouraged us to order dessert, since they had a GF chocolate cupcake with salted caramel frosting. On her recommendation, we got two cupcakes to go - a GF chocolate cupcake for me, and a pumpkin cupcake with maple cream cheese frosting for my friend -- which we enjoyed later in the day from the comforts of home. Wow. Super delicious. More please!

The sheltered outdoor space, where we ate, were picnic tables. There is an outdoor patio and also an indoor dining area in the bar. Service was a bit slow, but the food was served appropriately warm. Happy Clam is about as far off the beaten path as you can get in Downeast Maine. And though it is…read morethe only restaurant for miles, I expect that many tourists would pass on it based on the appearance, that of the clichéd "dive bar." But those in the know - tourists and locals alike - ensure that it is always busy, and it seems especially popular with bikers. Most of the rowdiest patrons choose the outdoor pavilion out back. I believe it serves the same menu but it's much louder, especially when there's live music or karaoke. Not my thing so I sit inside. The food is a peculiar mix of typical bar food, New England seafood, and German. Yes, German. Schnitzel, Rinder Rolladen, Goulash, Spaetzle, you'll find all of these. I've tried the Schnitzel, which I got with red cabbage and spaetzle. It was a generous portion and pretty decent. Authentic? Perhaps not. The "German Potato Salad" was regular mayonnaise-based with chopped pickles and bacon. Not that there's anything wrong with that but it's not German Potato Salad. On another occasion I tried the lobster reuben which has lobster instead of corned beef. Good but rather messy to eat from the melted cheese and Thousand Island dressing along with the plentiful lobster. Fries were ok, not outstanding. On a third occasion I tried the crab cakes which was a mistake and I should have known better. Salty, too much Old Bay, lots of filler. Gourmet or "fine dining" this is not. But definitely worth a visit or two or three. But be aware: the "dive bar" atmosphere also extends to the ambience and cleanliness - or lack thereof. The men's room smelled exactly as you might imagine, and the soap and paper towels had both run out. The ice bucket, curiously, was on the customer side of the bar, 6 inches from where I was sitting, separated by a flimsy plexiglass shield. So I advise you to stick to beer or wine - avoid the cocktails. Other than that, it has a fun kitchy feel to it, 70s TV posters, photos of sports celebreties and the like, and too much patriotic decor for my liking. But my waitress was friendly, I've enjoyed my visits, didn't get sick, and would probably go back.

The lobster roll kit arrived well-packed, very cold, not frozen (we appreciated that the rolls were not refrigerated) tasted sweet and fresh, had ample perfectly cooked lobster, and a great mix of tails, claws, and knuckles. It's a very nice area with water front, outdoor chairs and tables. Parkings are available at the site. Once we got there we went up to see place our order. They have an ice-cream shop next door, bathroom and hand washing area as well. We ordered their lobster roll and clam chowder. Once we ordered we grabbed one of the seat and waited for our order to arrive. Within 5minutes or so our order came out and waitress brought them to our table. Lobster roll came with side of mayo, butter, coleslaw and cape cod chips. Coleslaw and cape cod chips were nothing special. The lobster roll was pretty good. Lobster itself has faintly sweet flavor and was good without any butter or mayo. The bread was toasted well with lots of butter. Lobster roll was delicious. Clam chowder was pretty goof as well. Came with oyster crackers that you mix up which is standard. Good flavor. Service was good and fast. They do have some napkins and water self serve. Seats and tables were bit sticky so had to use some napkins to clean. Overall i liked the place. Quality and fresh lobster roll that is flavorful and not overwhelming with condiments. Clam chowder was good but i've had similar quality ones back in RI where i'm from. Price was ok i about $30 for one small ish lobster roll which is standard nowadays. If you want good lobster roll this is the place
