Great, straightforward service. They sent an estimator to take inventory of the house, which I prefer to others doing it over the phone or the new trend of Zoom walkthroughs. After that, the crew came when expected, had everything loaded in about 90 min. (for our house, anyway) and was just as efficient unloading and getting items where they should be at the new place. Plenty of packing and protection, which for an hour's drive (Concord - SJ) was appreciated. The movers showed up on time, and were great to work with. The location we were moving from was on the third floor of an apartment complex, with no elevator. I apologized several times for the not so ideal moving situation, and they could not have been more positive, and accommodating about it. They took great care of our boxes and furniture, and while I always go into a move with the expectation inevitably something will break accidentally, all of our items were perfectly intact when we unboxed them. We used Thrifty Moving to move our furniture from our 2 bedroom townhouse to our new 3 bedroom house. I filled out their online form and heard from someone within just a few minutes. After a brief but thorough question and answer period, I had a quote and a list of the available days/times around the time when we were hoping to move. The quote was complete and it was nice to know exactly how much the move would cost. We moved all the small stuff ourselves which greatly decreased the cost of our move. I got a confirmation call the day before. We had a noon to 3 pm window and I got a call at 11:45 letting me know that they would be there at 12:30. We had a two guy crew and they were quick, careful and friendly. Our move took exactly 3 hours which is great because that was the minimum charge. ($325/3 hours. Additional hours were quoted at $85/hour.) I was pleased with our choice of moving companies. I would say that we would use them again although I really hope not to be moving again any time soon. read more

TJ and crew did a great job of taking care of our items when loading and unloading. They were communicative and made sure we knew what the plan of action was. Two things I wish would have happened: I wish that the rep that we talked to on the phone would have told the movers that we were moving to a place that had 3 floors. The crew was very surprised when arriving to the new place. I genuinely felt bad because it wasn't communicated with them. Secondly, I wish the mover would have paid more attention to the label on the totes and boxes. My wife and I labeled the rooms at the new place, the boxes and totes to try to make things easier for the movers. A few things were placed in the incorrect rooms. Not a big deal. I moved last May and hired this moving company. The whole experience was a nightmare that I wanted to cool off before writing this review. Overall, very stressful experience due to the movers. There was no professionalism shown by the movers who were assigned to us. We had multiple furniture damaged (sad thing is, we were only moving 15 minutes away). I did reach out to the owner because I wanted to try and resolve everything before posting a negative review. They were apologetic and eventually refunded the amount we paid in tips, hence the two stars instead of one. My experience: First off, they did not wrap/protect ANY of the furniture, resulting in multiple damages for a short distance move. Our neighbors were also moving and had their movers come the same day and time as ours. We would see their movers wrap all of their furniture and cover it with blankets when loading into the truck, then we see our movers, nothing was wrapped/protected. Most upsetting was the office desk that they broke and the Ethan Allen bed frames that they disassembled/assembled carelessly (it now wobbles when it didn't before). We had a very nice office desk but the movers broke one of the legs and just told us that the "nails were lose," but the desk was fine the night before. We were forced to toss the office desk because the leg was completely broken, there was no way to fix it. We also noticed several chips and scratches to the TV stand, one of our bookshelf compartment was broken after the move and we had to superglue it together. All of these damages and we were only moving 15 minutes away. Throughout the move, the movers would make several comments about how much we should be tipping them. They just quoted me $440 to move only bedroom furniture. It's great that they offer comprehensive service - wardrobe boxes, wrapping, etc. - but this is outrageous to move one room. I've paid half that to move an apartment full of furniture, kitchen supplies, books, clothing, and more. I'm guessing the pricing makes more sense if you're moving an entire household. Also, they took a couple of days to respond to my request for a quote, then left repeated voice mails when one would have been enough. read more

One of the workers was not strong enough and my leather couch was dragged on the sidewalk. and along the stucco wall at my new place. Although there was no damage had I not been there to see it, and let them know, the couch would definitely have been damaged. Watch out for hidden fees. Even though I did all the packing myself I was charged $50 in packing fees.
