It was our first time trying Portabellas, and we were very pleased! We both ordered off the special board, and we started off with a spinach & artichoke dip appetizer. Everything was piping hot, fresh, and delicious. The prices were very reasonable. It was a busy Friday evening when we arrived, so a nice lady took our cell # to call us when our table was ready. It was only about a 15 minute wait. The service was excellent. The atmosphere is very comfortable and casual. You would never guess from the unassuming appearance of the exterior that it has such good quality food. My only complaint is that there is nowhere to sit and wait for a table - the restaurant does not have a waiting area. Also, the kitchen is somewhat open- there is not a clear separation from the tables. These are not enough to knock off a star though because I still found the ambience to be comfortable. In general, we are happy to have discovered delicious Italian food with great service in Foley, and look forward to trying more dishes, including the pizzas. We will definitely be back! read more

Had a coupon for pizza and tried to use it but was met by a crusty rude woman on the phone. This rude woman informed us that coupons were NOT honored on weekends. Nowhere on the coupon was this mentioned. This did more harm than no coupon at all. Will not waste my money at this unprofessional establishment. read more

We had planned to go to Trattorias for Valentines Day dinner but found out too late that we needed a reservation. Found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. It is a little gem hidden away. The staff was very friendly. Service was excellent even on a busy Valentines Day. We ordered the garlic knots for our appetizer. They were served with marinara sauce. Very tasty but could have been more garlicky. We also ordered a pepperoni and mushroom pizza. Excellent. Loved the crust. We would definitely eat here again. read more

I love seafood. Don't get me wrong. And the choices for seafood here in the Foley/Gulf Shores area are amazing. But you've got to have some variety. And if you only take a break from seafood for one meal while in Foley or Gulf Shores, this is your place. This is the real deal- Authentic Italian. What a great little gem. My brother order toasted ravioli which was good but the star of the appetizer was the marinara sauce. Ate it with a spoon. I ordered French onion soup. This place has super cute potential...replace the carpet with the fun black and white check floor, those fun red and white table cloths, better artwork and you get that Southern Living write up! That being said, I had the meatball marinara. I love pasta and usually choose angel or thin when I cook but this deserved thicker noodles. The sauce was tangy but complimented the meatballs- which were fabulous. My server Christie was really sweet and on top of it! Only did 4-stars bc of decor. Based on other Yelp reviews My family and I decided to give it a try for dinner. We started off with an order of garlic knots and a large spinach salad. The garlic knots were ok, and the spinach salad had potential, if it had had an actual vinaigrette, however it tasted like it had just been doused in oil. No real flavor present. On to dinner. Everyone ordered a half order of pasta; two Greek pastas and two Alfredo. The portion sizes were offensive and looked like a child's portion. Actually, I think we've received more food from the child's menu at other places. I could literally count the penne pasta served with the Alfredo. The flavors were meh. We won't be back, especially after spending $48, before the tip, and leaving still hungry. It also seems as though the floor staff doesn't quite have a handle on how to work in a restaurant. They do not have a lot of tables and weren't full when we sat down, yet we had to wait several minutes before someone took our order. read more

No iceberg here! We ordered a pizza and pesto fresco pasta with chicken to share. The pasta was perfectly cooked. A yummy sauce of sun dried tomato pesto and grilled chicken. It was good, not great. And the pepperoni pizza had a great flavor, but the crust was a bit soggy. Either less sauce or cook it longer. But soggy pizza is not my favorite. I'm definitely a thin, crispy crust person. The place blends in with the fish market next door so you have to look for it. It is definitely worth finding. We over looked it and had to circle back around to find it. Family of four- ordered three different salads - Caesar, Greek, and the spinach- all dressings were delicious. Garlic knots hot, fresh, light and tasty served with bowl of marinara. ust a few days ago, I was thinking back to childhood, and wishing for some parlor style pizza...something in a style similar to the Shakey's of my youth. But all of the old places are gone. There was something about the crisp quality, and the sour and smoke flavors were so memorable. Portabella's isn't parlor pizza, by any stretch, and the crust isn't paper thin, but the edges had a good crunch, and there were reminiscent flavors present. Many mom and pop restaurants serving well liked pizzas don't make a flavorful plain cheese pizza. read more

Delicious! Started with a Caesar salad. Hands down best Caesar dressing I've tasted. Followed the salad with a pineapple, sautéed onion and prosciutto pizza. Crust was perfect - crunchy edges and chewy inside with a nice thin crust in the middle. The sauce was mild and didn't overpower the pizza just like I like it. My son had the Lion pizza with all the meats and my husband had a turkey club (really, who gets a turkey club when there is pizza?!). Both gave thumbs up for their meals. We ended with tiramisu and salted caramel cheesecake. The tiramisu was light and fluffy. Almost made me not feel guilty about the extra calories. The cheesecake was like heaven in your mouth. I gave this two stars instead of one because we've had some good luck with this restaurant in the past. We ordered a large "Foley" pizza to go, it was a disaster. We had a great "Foley" pizza not long ago but this one was just thrown together with whole slices missing cheese and the toppings were very very minimal with way too much naked crust. It was put together with zero care and handed over to us cold. Our pizza was very disappointing. I'm more than willing to pay for a good pizza but I've had better from big chains than what we had this evening. We're going to give this place a break for a while. Went here for lunch with my mom and sister. we were in search of something simple that we would know. And that's what we got here! We each ordered a side salad. Me a Caesar and the others a Greek salad. The Caesar was as good as any other. The Greek salads were phenomenal though. We then order pizza and some sort of pasta. The pizza was delicious! Better than what you would find at papa johns but not quite out of this world. The pasta was delicious! And the garlic knots were super good!
