We were excited to try Portabellas since the new owners took over. We were so impressed, first with the genuine friendliness when you enter and the quaint ambiance. Then we were impressed with the Caesar salad. The dressing and croutons were delish! There were 3 of us and our entrees were the lasagna, which was very tasty and portioned just right. The garlic knot was great as well. Next my husband had the special pizza of the day called the Boudreaux. My hubby said it was the best pizza he has had since moving to Baldwin County 4 years ago (and he eats pizza out a lot!). Our son had the Chicken Caesar Salad and it was wonderful and wonderfully large enough to take some home. We split the Salted caramel cheesecake and as a cheesecake connoisseur, I can say it was one of the best I've ever tasted. Pam (one of the owners) was very personable and checked with each table to make sure all was well. Her husband (and chef) also checked on us at the end of our meal. So we have not been here in years but remembered how good the pizza and lasagna ,chicken parm was , so today we decided to go back..we havent eaten out since covid very often..what a disappointment, the lasagna was tasty but tiny and drenched in cheese way too much ..the chicken parm hubby got was not a full piece of chicken but cut up pieces and some were dark meat, he was not happy ..sauce tasted good that's it he said..on to the pizza it looked like a hunk of cheese and in picking it up it was clearly not done , we tasted it and it tasted like raw dough and yeast so instead of complaining and having drama we brought it home recooked it , something I do not want to do thus the purpose of eating out..there was very little sauce on it so we took sauce from his food and mine and spread it on there.. it tasted better being cooked on the bottom..I doubt we will ever go back..and first few times we loved it .. the greeter was very friendly.. read more

I ordered the small meat pizza and it was cooked right with plenty of toppings, and my wife enjoyed their special, the shrimp scampi. A real gem! Foley Alabama has a few good pizza places, but this is by far our favorite. The sauce is delicious, a little sweet, but with a healthy note of garlic! The 5 cheese pizza is amazing all on its own, but when you build your own with their fresh ingredients it's heavenly. Their Italian food is excellent and the house wine is really tasty. The service was lovely, with the owner acting as the hostess. A fun place to be! read more

I'll start off by saying the floor could use a good cleaning. Food, stains, and trash all over. Service was decent. Drink order went in quick as did our appetizer order. Both came out just as fast. The garlic knots tasted pretty good. We both ordered Alfredo pasta, shrimp for her and chicken for me. The Alfredo sauce was very bland. The pasta was cooked perfectly though. Some salt and pepper and parmesan definitely helped the flavor. A little disappointed with the Alfredo with this being a Italian restaurant. read more

Wow so much food and so Italian classy dishes! Small so don't be late it has an amazing chef . People are so nice and it's casual. Always a special always good. Lots of cheese and pasta sooooo good! We arrived around 4:30 on a Saturday night. We got seated immediately. Our server was very attentive. Our food was delicious! I had the chicken parmesan, one friend had the meat ball & marinara, a third friend had the Alfredo Pasta. We brought half of our meals home. The portions are generous. We shared the best tiramisu I have ever eaten. Then we each ordered a small pizza to take home for tomorrow. I recommend this restaurant when you are in Foley! It is worth your visit! read more

Wow! We've passed this little unassuming place so many times and never even noticed it. That all changed last night when I was craving pizza and some quality time with my sister-in-law. We ended up meeting at Portabellas. We started with baked cheese ravioli which comes with a bowl of the most delicious marinara sauce I've ever had in my life (and I make damn good marinara sauce and it's better than mine). The ravioli is not made fresh there but it had us fooled. It actually has ricotta and herbs in it. My SIL had French onion soup and it was amazing as well and came with little sliced baguette toast smothered with cheese. For our pizza we ordered the Lion, which was as carnivorous as it sounds. It was all out of this world! Actually, I used the pizza crust around the edges as breadsticks to eat with the rest of the marinara sauce. For dessert we tried a slice of tiramisu. I typically don't like tiramisu because I don't like coffee. This didn't have an overwhelming flavor of coffee. In fact, I couldn't even taste it. It was divine. Out total bill was around $30, which we thought was dirt cheap considering all of the delicious food we are. The service was great as well. I can definitely see us eating there more often. read more

Disappointed after reading all of the reviews. My wife and I visited yesterday, 12/27, having read such favorable reviews. He split a large greek salad, she had French onion soup and we followed by with chicken parmigiana, lasagna and split some lobster stuffed ravioli. The Greek salad was pretty good but needs more Feta cheese and an oil and vinegar dressing is what is called for but not offered. The French onion soup should not be on the menu. A good French onion is homemade and comes with a bread/cheese topping. This tasted more like a packet of French onion soup from the store, just uneventful. The lobster ravioli had a great taste but the Alfredo sauce, well, I've tasted better at Olive Garden. Speaking of sauce, personally, I like the red sauce from Olive Garden much better too. The lasagna was an excellent recipe, and the chicken parmigiana was cooled very well, but both of us felt the red sauce is degradation of quality feed. In fact, I brought home leftovers and stopped at Public for some Paul Newman's own, which had more taste than what Portabella offered. It is not the worst Italian I've had in the area, Franco's is much worse since their ownership change, but I will not return due to what my wife and I felt was a terrible red sauce. read more

What an incredible authentic Italian meal! What ever they have going on back there in the kitchen is really something special! I ordered the Spaghetti and Meatballs with a House Salad. The salad was fresh and crisp - no bagged lettuce here. The Ranch dressing was cool and creamy, complimenting the taste of each vegetable in the salad. And OMG, the star of the show was really the Spaghetti & Meatballs. The sauce really stands out on it's own, dancing across the palette with just the right amount of heat. The Angel Hair Pasta was done perfectly. And the meatballs, oh the meatballs! Two large home made flavorful meatballs so perfect that they, too, could stand on their own. I really felt like someone's great-grandmother from the old neighborhood was back there in the kitchen. My only regret is that I didn't order a second round to go so I could send myself home with a care package. read more

I ordered a Magnolia Springs pizza which per menu has pesto, artichoke hearts and chicken. The pizza I got with our take order was full of cheese, pepperoni and olives. My husband said she read the order back as a MS pizza. When I called, near their closing time, the worker argued that she verified that it was a MS pizza before he paid. Then when I told her the real pizza I got, she said that was a verfied Mardi Gras pizza. By then I was angry and used a juvenile expletive. She said what did I want. No offer. I said I wanted the pizza I ordered. She ok, when did I want to pick it up. I said noon. We will see if it is as good as the salad I did get to eat tonight. This was awesome dining experience food was amazing I had the "Lion" pizza and my wife had the Chicken fettuccine and they were both amazing, make sure you leave space for dessert as the the are worth the extra spurge. Megan was a delight and made feel right as did the owner who checked on us several times. It was our first time trying Portabellas, and we were very pleased! We both ordered off the special board, and we started off with a spinach & artichoke dip appetizer. Everything was piping hot, fresh, and delicious. The prices were very reasonable. It was a busy Friday evening when we arrived, so a nice lady took our cell # to call us when our table was ready. It was only about a 15 minute wait. The service was excellent. The atmosphere is very comfortable and casual. You would never guess from the unassuming appearance of the exterior that it has such good quality food. My only complaint is that there is nowhere to sit and wait for a table - the restaurant does not have a waiting area. Also, the kitchen is somewhat open- there is not a clear separation from the tables. These are not enough to knock off a star though because I still found the ambience to be comfortable. In general, we are happy to have discovered delicious Italian food with great service in Foley, and look forward to trying more dishes, including the pizzas. We will definitely be back! read more

Had a coupon for pizza and tried to use it but was met by a crusty rude woman on the phone. This rude woman informed us that coupons were NOT honored on weekends. Nowhere on the coupon was this mentioned. This did more harm than no coupon at all. Will not waste my money at this unprofessional establishment. read more
