Every time I visit Chicago, I've always wanted to stop by Portillo's, but it just never happened. While my mom and I were visiting Orlando Florida, we decided to stop by Portillo's for dinner on a Thursday evening. I'm so glad that we did because it was one of the best meals we had during our Florida trip! This Portillo's location is in the Orlando/Kissimmee area. It was in a beautiful shopping complex area with plenty of parking spots. It was our first time inside the restaurant and as soon as we walked in, we noticed how beautiful the interior is. It was decorated like a diner with some vintage photos. There was tables and booth seating available. You could place your order at the register, or use the self-service kiosk. We decided to use the self-service kiosk so we could take a look at all of their different offerings! The restaurant had a wide range of Hot dogs, Beef & Sausage sandwiches, chicken sandwiches, salads, burgers, ribs, sides like French Fries, Shakes, and so much more! My mom ended up getting the Italian Beef Sandwich with French Fries and I got a burger with bacon and cheese, with a side of onion rings. We found a table, and waited about 10 minutes for our order. It wasn't too long! The char-broiled bacon cheeseburger was amazing! It was so flavorful and the bacon was super crunchy! The cheese was melting from the burger. It was so good, especially after a long day at the Universal Studios theme park! The onion rings were scrumptious! When you took a bite of the Onion Ring, the onion didn't fall off the breading! My mom enjoyed her Italian Beef Sandwich, it was just a little messy though! The food here was amazing! Eating inside the restaurant was such a great experience! I would come back to this Portillos location again if I'm in Orlando Florida on a vacation! I didn't have room for a slice of their chocolate cake, but next time, I'll be ordering that first! read more

We had burger, Kitchen sink salad and Chicago dog. We ordered from the kiosk and our number was called when the food was ready. The salad is filling, the burger was good since we didn't want the italian sandwich. It 's not a bad alternative. The chicago dog is a real chicago dog. It has the fluorescent relish, celery salt and all! YUM! Compared to California location, this location is brighter and not as big. California location has a Chicago/NY vibe -bricks /street look (LOL). Food is just as good. Someday we'll have to go to Chicago to eat at the original location. Note: no italian beef sandwich this time. However, my previous visit, we ordered it and it was hella good! Thank you Yelp for this amazing event! This is one of my 4th or 5th time visiting This franchise and it doesn't seem to disappoint. I had different meals for each visit and they were delicious ! Had to vote this one to make my top 3 since I never tried the chicken sandwich. Delicious and fresh , but just one small detail of it being too saucy. Delicious , tangy, spicy, but just got messy so quick. Paired that with some crinkle fries and root beer and that definitely hit the spot. Of course I plan on visiting this location and trying other different kinds of entrees, sides , and desserts, but my main appreciation for this would have to be the service and atmosphere. So we are still on vacation and i had been eyeing this place for the past 3 years so it finally came to pass and we stopped for dinner. Ordered the chili cheese dog, the Chicago dog with sweet and hot peppers, their crinkle cut fries and a chocolate cake shake and a coke. It's all automated ordering but ehh, I'll let it slide. The ambiance inside is very nostalgic work old artists records on the walls such as Elvis, Aretha, etc.... The food was finally ready and both dogs were delicious. My wife really enjoyed her chili dog and preferred it over the Chicago dog. I enjoyed my Chicago dog immensely, especially with the peppers, I liked the crunch. The beef sammich was yummy and I ordered it lucky lightly dipped but next time I'll get it soaked. It was tasty and the roll was really good. My wife loved the chocolate cake shake and told me she used to make these shakes growing up and I had no idea on them but it was yummy. I was a bit hungry and decided to stop at Portillo's for the second time in my life, since my first experience was a pleasant one! This time, I tried out the drive-thru and found it to be amazingly convenient!! After peering at the menu, the drive-thru split into a relatively efficient & quickly moving double lane. Courteous employees were outside to help direct the flow of vehicular traffic into the shortest lane, which provided a warm interaction. Since it was only my second time at Portillo's, I had a quick question about a menu item. A very pleasant employee was both knowledgeable, courteous and engaging. That was a refreshing experience, especially when compared to some other fast-food spots that shall remain nameless! I found my tasty food to be the right temperature, freshly prepared with very fresh toppings! I tried both the hot dog and the hamburger, and they were good--but just good. Nothing stood out in a way that made me pause or think, "Wow, I need to come back for this." Before coming to Portillo's we had a full day at Universal so we deserved this dinner at Portillo's! :) This is the first time for me trying out Portillo's coming from west coast Vancouver, BC. My friend was raving about Portillo's so we were inclined to go. I thought they were known for their hotdogs but my friend told me it's the Italian beef sandwich to order. My hubby ordered the Italian beef and he said it's one of the tastiest beef sandwich he's ever had. As I don't eat red meat often I had the fish sandwich and the fish was the flakiest and moist (I know, I said it)! Ok, what is in their chocolate cake? The cake is so airy and fluffy. I can't believe we ordered one to share but I was watching my calorie intake. Oh the agony! I love the interior decor, a classic diner-style with vinyl booths, counter seating, and over-the-top decor. We came here recently when they had a buy one get one free Italian beef sandwich special. My husband is from Chicago so he loves their Italian beef. I hate to say he was disappointed this time. We did a mobile order just before arriving, and he said his sandwich was only lukewarm and the shredded cheese did not melt at all. I'm sure we'll be back but maybe order at the counter and get a side of the melted cheddar cheese instead. Their fries and onion rings are always delicious and fresh. No cake or shakes this time. While driving down Palm Pkwy on our way to Target my little eye sours Portillo's and I squealed like a little kid and probably gave the hubs a heart attack at the same time. If you are from the Chicagoland area or have ever visited the Windy City then you know all about Portillo's and Italian Beef. We discovered Portillo's back in the early 2000's and is a must visit place for us whenever we are in area's where they are located. The food was so good and it made us feel like we were there in Chicago. I have no shame in saying we ate here twice while on vacation and the 2nd time I made sure to get extra gravy on the side to bathe my already baptized Italian Beef with even more goodness. The bread holds up so why not indulge. lol The restaurant is in a great location, very clean and the staff were all extremely friendly and welcoming. I absolutely LOVE Portillo's Chicago Dogs and Italian Beef sandwiches, so when in the area one evening and yearning for some snacks we decided to use Ubereats to order up some Chicago Dogs and fries from the local Portillo's. This place is only a couple of miles from Disney World and Ubereats delivers them to the Hilton hotels in Disney. We got the food within 20 minutes of ordering too! I also get the italian beef, heads up you have to mention that you want the peppers and the dipping sauce or you wont get it. The fries are crispy, but I prefer their onion rings. I am so disappointed in Portillo's. The quality seems to have gone downhill from the last time I've been there. It was extremely loud as always. but I came for the food...big mistake. I had a Chicago hot dog (they just call it a hot dog with everything on it) and the hot dog was horrible. It tasted like the most inexpensive Walmart hot dog that I used to buy for dog treats. The tomato was flavorless, it was not even the bright red color, it was almost white on the inside. So disappointing when I can say the $1.50 hot dogs at Costco or Sam's Club was better than Portillos. read more

Always love this place. You can order at the kiosks or in person. I like to order in person because the employees are always so patient, respectful and competent. The vibe is like a 50's diner, booths and tables pick up your order when they call your number. Lots of tables so never an issue with seating and always clean. Food is so good ! Absolutely love their Italian beef. I always det it dipped with hot peppers. I have had the spicy chicken sandwich, the hot dogs and the cake shake. All delicious. I was in the mood for a hot dog which is rare and thought I should finally try Portillos! I love the retro diner theme inside! I was very disappointed with the food though. I ordered a #2 which comes with two Chicago style hotdogs, fries and a drink. The hotdogs were ok, not the best. The fries were ok as well. Since I wasn't too impressed with the hot dogs I went back up and ordered Italian Beef sandwich and it was just so unflavorful that I didn't even finish it and ended up throwing it away. The restaurant itself is very clean inside. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I don't think I would be coming back though, just not for me. read more

Just the two of us decided to check out Portillo's while in Orlando. The parking lot was packed, but there was plenty of seating available both indoors and outside, which was a nice surprise. For convenience, we used one of their digital kiosks instead of ordering at the counter so we could browse the full menu. Word of advice: double-check every option before placing your order. I can't tell if it was us fumbling with the touchscreen or if it defaults to "none" on toppings... but I ended up with a bare version of "The Leo." It looked nothing like the picture because all the toppings were set to none. What I got was just a double-dipped Italian beef sandwich with no extras. The fries were okay... not bad, but not memorable either. The onion rings, though, were the highlight. They had great breading and paired really well with the cup of cheese sauce we added for dipping. My friend went with the #1 combo featuring the Italian beef. It was definitely loaded and came smothered in cheese... which might've been due to us selecting something by mistake on the kiosk again. Either way, it was a hefty sandwich. We both tried their shakes, including their unique strawberry lemon cake milkshake. It's literally a strawberry shake with an entire slice of lemon cake blended into it. The texture was very different... not bad if you're into that sort of thing, but personally, I'd stick with a regular shake next time. The restaurant has a fun, oversized 50's-style diner vibe with tons of quirky decor covering the walls and ceiling. They use a screen to show your order number's status, which is helpful... until your food is ready. Once it hits the counter for pickup, your number disappears from the screen, so if you're not paying close attention, your food might just sit there unnoticed. A relatively generic hot dog place however I will say that when it comes to their specialty dogs this place is a huge home run! Their staff is super friendly and from the couple times that I have gone through with the drive-thru it is crazy how fast they are at getting the order, charging me and getting me on my way! The hot dog is very filling and I love the crunch of the wrapping they use on the hot dog. The bread is absolutely wonderful and is the perfect amount of softness. Let me just say though, their main thing you should get here is their chocolate cake and their chocolate milkshake. Both of them are absolutely exceptional! The chocolate cake is very moist and a very nice size for what you are paying. The chocolate milkshake is very rich so I do suggest that if you're not a huge chocolate person to get a regular milkshake. The place definitely gives me that Northern State vibe from the outside, I hear the inside is very nice and one day I will visit it! Prices are very reasonable and they have a ton of combinations.
