Horrendous pricing for residential but the HUGE data centers get a massive price cut. Essentially the common yokels (residential customers) are forced to bail out these multibillion dollar companies. Where can we get our local government authorized monopolies? Electricity goes out with due to rain. A little wind. But they can be slow to get it back up and running. PGE's customer service is much better than other energy companies I have contacted in the past. The representatives are friendly and helpful, and I am usually able to reach a person within just a minute or two. Other companies leave you tangled up with some AI voicebot for forever and then transfer you through many representatives when you do get to a human. I appreciate how straightforward PGE's customer service is! They have always been able to answer my questions and help me make changes to my account. read more

I just spoke with Justin the rep at PGE Portland. My energy usage is minimal and I the current bill is too high. $118 for the month. I have a refrigerator. Laptop small lamp and bathroom light. No baseboard heating. Chec out your bad reviews. I can't wait to give my notice in 4 months. Typically my monthly bill is $18-30. I have been a PGE customer for over 20 years. Im updating what has gone in our neighborhood... nothing good has happened since my initial review. I believe 100 percent that I am now a target for someone's sinister intentions. Since they cut the trees I didn't think they could do anything worse than that but they thought of something that is or could be deadly for me. They have dug a vault directly in front of my home. I saw the man rolling a tape down the sidewalk glance at my home then take a few more steps p s glancing again at my home and that's all he did. A week later red lines painted in the grass and two trees tagged to be cut right in front of my home. Two days later a crew was out there with excavators digging a 10 foot hole . Next day a concrete vault was put there which is now just a junction . No warning even though thay got a conditional land use permit to come out of the fenced set backs and 2 inches from the sidewalk. So now I have a very loud 60 hrts hum coming through my floor boards into my bones and it's driving me mad. My physical health is dismissing rapidly. How or what do I do now. The y have ruined my homes worth my health my peace...and there is nothing I can do about it.....God help me ! read more

This is another Portland utility, like Pacific Power and Waste Managment who after the pandemic decided that closing people's accounts was just too dang hard. The grift is this: you call to close your account. They say "sure pal". Then maybe next month, maybe even years down the line you get billed again. Maybe you call in and explain "I closed this account" and usually there's "nothing they can do but close you out and send you a last bill". But, obviously you didn't receive those services. The next tenant/owner did. Your account was just charged out of the blue. Maybe some people are fooled into paying. I think that's the point, or it wouldn't keep happening with multiple different utilities. Eventually they sell your account to collections and make a few nickels there. It's the utility equivalent of searching for spare change in your buddy's sofa cushions and it's just as classy. I feel for the customer service agents who get reamed out and the people who hoped they had left the craziness of post-pandemic Portland behind but NO! It's back to pester us more! Boo. read more

PGE is terrible. They raise their rates so often without notice. I have left my apartment for over 2 months with everything unplugged and somehow the bill was still in the hundreds. Apparently they want customers to pay for other customers electricity. They don't have enough employees so don't expect them to restore your power for a week if it ever goes out. read more

Terrible electric company! In all my years of service with different companies this is by far the worst to deal with! In our area there are no other choices if you want electricity? We HAVE to deal with them.... I own a business, on two separate occasions this year, I was LATE paying my bill because it was neglected. Both times were paid within two weeks of the due date. Then... They demanded a $750 deposit!?? I called them to talk about it with no luck. From there I paid every bill afterwards on time, then this morning I woke up to no power at my business??? They shut me off because I refused to pay the deposit!!?? My balance was current minus their ridiculous deposit.... This is a monopoly and we should have other choices for utility companies in the area. This is just one of many negative experiences by the way. read more

Well, it is what it is. I have read the rants and I feel everyone's pain. My suggestion, conserve power and try your best not to go crazy over your electric bill. If warm, open a window or go put on your birthday suit - don't use A/C. If it's cold, put on an extra layer of clothes and or snuggle up next to your significant other....if you have one :) For those that may not know, PGE contracts out to 3rd party utility companies when the workload is heavy. With that said, rates may go up because they have to offset the cost to bring in help. Also, for those home/property owners (the neighborhoods along Jamison Road and in the Raleigh Hills area) that choose not to be responsible in making sure their tress are properly pruned, PG&E contracts out to companies like Asplundh to ensure lines are clear from branches and what not. Again, another cost to PG&E that I'm sure is offset with increased rates. Sadly, the recent winter storm we had in January/February clearly showed some major deficiencies with not only property owners but with PG&E. We can't blame PG&E for everything but we can sure blame the home owners that have boat sails on their property. Remember, when the ground becomes a sponge, things like to uproot. read more

Incessant rate increases for their commercial and industrial pet projects. All the while residential customers are paying almost the same rate as commercial. That's almost a 100% increase in our bills doubling in the last 4-5 years. These pet projects are primarily geared for the benefit of commercial customers which residential customers sre being charged for almost the same rate. That's not fair! Than they roll out the new rate increases right in the middle of the winter when bills are highest. Upper management sure does continue to get their "cost of living" raises to their multi-million salaries. No you shouldn't get a cost of living raise, they have well enough while many of us are desperately struggling. The CEO makes 6,8 million a year not including bonuses. They're grossly paid well above industry standard! It's messed up and ridiculous while many of us suffer! I'm extra pissed thzt they just raised it again and that the PUC approved it- behind backdoor dealings no doubt! WTF where's the line? Most of us are struggling. We have a small windstorm that knocks out our power now for almost 48 hours in below freezing weather. PGE doesn't care that people are literally freezing to death here in Lake Oswego, OR! Poor communication with no expected ETAs when power will be restored. Shameful PGE! You call them just to get a robot telling you that they're working to fix the issue with the safety in mind. I want everyone to be safe, but soon as it gets dark, they stop all operations and it's getting dark around 5 p.m. Safety?? What about us and the old people living alone with no one to help in homes that are now in the 30 degrees in the inside trying to survive the extremely cold and dark nights? Customer service reps have always been mostly pleasant, but very unhelpful. If you need energy assistance, as I'm sure many of us do, be prepared for a laughable discount. My partner and I live off of his income, and it seems that although his income falls well below what's needed to meet the cost of living for the area, it is not enough to warrant a decent discount off of your electric bill. 15% is what I was given, which won't mean much if PGE gets approval for their next rate hike of 10.9% for 2025. When I asked if PGE could adjust this to something a bit higher, I was met with a resounding "No" in the form of half-answers, and general platitudes you'll find from most companies these days. They are scamming people's accounts. Lying about their usage and saying that people are using more than they really are. On top of that raising people's charges by huge percentages. Making it nearly impossible for customers to keep up. On average people in Salem are being charged 400-900$ a month for electric. While the CEO is making 2 million a year. They are trying to bankrupt customers to the point that people will be getting shut off. It should be criminal what they are charging. Customers need to stand together and stop them. They are trying to switch to clean energy and what they aren't telling people is that the customers are paying for it. That's really why they are charging the customers the amounts they are. Which is a straight lie. Lying about the amount we are using and putting all the extra money into a pool so they can use that to switch the energy. I think all customers should stop paying so they have no choice but to lower our costs. Also trying to switch everyone to smart meters which is what causes the fires in Los Angeles. Don't trust this company. They will lie. And they are stealing from customers. I will be getting an attorney and suing your company for every last penny. Everyone should request for their meters to be serviced. The smart meters out side of your home are being scammed. All the power was shut off on my home yet it said I was still using 40 kwh after shutting off my breakers. Shame on you PGE. We are livid. Due to repeated 'trimming' of a tree on the right of way, and causing instability when installing an adjacent power pole last month, we now have a tree out of the ground and perilously close to falling across our driveway. Because the tree is resting on a fiber line, not the power line 2 feet above, PGE is refusing to remove it. Instead they are blaming the fiber provider, and tied the tip of the tree to the fiber line to keep it from falling completely. Irresponsible and totally passing the buck. No where to turn to fight this buerocracy. read more

WORST. Raised their rates by 17% in the beginning of 2024. Electric bill has been $310 a month on average, and we're rarely home using the gas an electric. Such a racket. Transformer went out right in front of my house at 6:40 am this morning, crazy loud bomb. Immediately got a text from them that a service repair was on its way. PGE was out within 20 min.
