Food took like an hour no one was there maybe 2 other tables. Maybe thing have changed but bad service and bad food turns me off to never go back. The pizzas here are below average even with their fancy Maine monikers. Remember, pizza is about the crust ESPECIALLY after the pie sits for a while or is cold... The crust at Portland Pie is about as delicious as a slab of the box it comes in. Add in the exorbitant prices for nothing special and you get yourself a gourmet guest check for below average food. They also supply pizza to Red Claws games at the Portland Expo so try a slice there... It's already been reheated and extra cardboardy... Sample it for 3 bucks a pop or just eat some napkins with a little ketchup for free. read more

I really wanted to like this place. Looked like they had some fun ideas going on. It just didnt work out for us. The service was slow. We didnt see our waiter all that much. One of the appetizers was prepared wrong, the underside of the pizzas were all soft/soggy, and the dough selections we made came out incorrectly. I mean the flavor combinations were good and we liked the ambience. But with everything that went wrong, and the high prices, it was just more of a let down than anything. Not likely to be back. Do not ever go here. We were "greeted" at the door by a girl who seemed to be a little confused by the whole situation. "Are you eating here?" was how we were greeted. Well, yes - why else would we be standing here was my initial thought but instead I just said "yes, we are" because I'm a nice guy. We get taken to our table - a table right in the middle of the entrance to the kitchen. The restaurant was practically empty so I'm not really sure why this happened. I asked if we could be seated elsewhere "to make it easier to hear each other." She gave us a strange look and then seated us at a table right next to another couple in the empty room... Like I said - a little confused. Our waitress showed up and asked us what we wanted. We hadn't decided yet and just ordered drinks - Ice water with lemon and Club Soda without ice. We received Ice water and Club Soda with ice and lime. Not a good start. So, about 20 minutes later our server seemed to realize that we were still there and came over to see if we wanted to order. We asked a couple questions and then ordered our food - two small pizzas and two side salads. Our salads came immediately - obviously pre-made. 30 minutes - yes, three-zero - later she shows up with our pizzas, puts them down, says "everything look okay?", and leaves. Well, no - it wasn't. Not only had I had been given the wrong pizza, what I received was cold and greasy. Thinking the waitress would be back to check on us soon, I encouraged my wife to begin eating. Finally, after 15 minutes I flagged down another waitress and asked for our server to return. Many minutes later she finally showed up and I told her that I had the wrong pizza. Are you ready for this???? SHE ARGUED WITH ME! Now, this was not a subtle thing - I ordered pepperoni - my pizza didn't have pepperoni. She finally said, "Well, I can just go into the kitchen and have them slice up some pepperoni for you to put on top of your pizza." Okay, I could go on and on but I'm going to stop. If you like dismal service, horrible soggy greasy pizza that isn't what you ordered, and sitting close to total strangers in an empty room then this is the place for you... This place is a joke. Mediocre food at best. Walked in at 5:15 on a Sunday afternoon with my wife and 4 year old. The hostess sat us at a filthy table. I asked her if she didn't mind wiping it, but then we decided to move over a table (literally 3 feet), because my son wanted to watch baseball on the TV. After moving, the hostess was very rude to us, and we sat here for almost 25 minutes with no service until my wife finally had to go back to the hostess stand to ask for some. As soon as she did, the hostess pretended to do something and walked away. Another male server asked my wife if he could help and finally came to take our order. Now I could understand why switching to another table could be a problem if it was busy, but there were maybe 4 parties in the entire place, including us, and accommodating the wishes of a 4 year old who wants to watch baseball by moving over a table certainly doesn't warrant us being purposefully ignored. Even still, I'd probably put up with all of this crap, if the food was amazing, but like I said before, it's mediocre on a good day.. Should have read the reviews before choosing this place for my birthday dinner. Two nights ago we ordered delivery around 6:30 PM. The food never arrived. Happy Birthday to me. We were able to get an easy refund from the delivery service. Last night we decided to try again - this time we did take-out. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms, the bacon cheese fries, spinach and artichoke dip with bread bowl, chicken and tomato on Alfredo pizza, and the nachos with chicken. The nachos were the only thing worth eating - the guacamole and pico de gallo made them. The stuffed mushrooms were slimy and lacked any other texture, and had no flavor as many others already have shared in their reviews. Well, they did have just one flavor - it's salt. It just tasted like swallowing ocean water if that makes sense :-) The artichoke dip, same thing. Just one big mouthful of salt. They included the bread bowl in a separate container, but it was still warm when they put it in a plastic takeout container, and by the time we arrived home the container was full of condensation and the bread was one big rubber roll; inedible. We ordered garlic crust on the pizza, but the pizza tasted like stale beer. Again, no other flavor. To make matters even more gross, I bit into a big piece of chicken that was all cartilage. So gross. The fries were undercooked and floppy. We had no desire to even try them. That cheese on top of them was all hard and crusty. We barely touched anything except the nachos--it went into the trash. This is definitely a place that I thought would be way better. The menu descriptions sound amazing--despite being pricey, I thought it would be worth it. But I would definitely never go here again. read more

This location is the closest and we've tried takeout 3 times. Only one pizza. There were always issues and each time it was a bit worse. I totally don't mind a long wait for pickup, but if they say 45min and it ends up being over an hour that's a bit much. The quality wasn't as good as the other locations either so I thought/hoped it may have been a one-off. Second time it was the same and we waited 20 min longer than the time they gave us. Third time we waited an hour & 20min on a 30 min pickup time to get a pizza with the wrong toppings and still skimpy; it looked like it had been just thrown together. We reached-out on their website to let them know and they were super-nice & offered us a certificate for a pie. They unfortunately never sent it. I could care less about the freebie, I just want a good pie made like what we had in Brunswick and Scarborough and be ready relatively close to the pickup time given. Usually I have a great experience at Portland Pie, but I will never return to the Biddeford location again. We showed up at 6:15 pm, ordered two small pizzas and hot wings for take out. We waited for half an hour and checked on our order. They told us they were just busy. 45 minutes go by and we checked again. They claimed the wing order got missed. We though okay, no biggie, wings are quick. The manager took them off the bill and we were okay with that. Then, an hour goes by and at this point we watched people dine in the restaurant, eat, check out and leave, and we still didn't have out takeout. The manager came back and I told her to take it all off my bill. She did, and the pizzas came out but still no wings. At this point we had to leave as we had company coming over. So I told her to take it all of my bill. Then, as we walked out the door, they finally had the wings. Here is what we saw. A hostess trying to work hard and a hipster at the cash who was lazy and had poor customer service. The manager acknowledged that her people should have proactively been on top of why it took our food so long, but even so, she knew we were waiting and she didn't follow up. First time trying this place. Got delivery. My son loved the gluten free cheese pizza. I ordered him 3 and he finished them in 2 days... they are 10". My daughter and I also got the mushroom goat cheese specialty pizza with garlic crust and I added sliced tomatoes. It tasted amazing. It was a little wet and floppy in the middle but oh so good. Meatball calzone was messy and didn't stay together but good meatballs and sauce... I didn't taste any cheese which it's supposed to have... not sure what happened. Cobb salad was ok... nothing too special but good enough since we shared everything. Hummus plate was good. Big fresh veggies. A little more hummus would have been better. Person on phone was a bit rude but since my son loved the gluten free pizza and I loved the goat cheese mushroom and they offer delivery... we will definitely order again. read more

So more than one year on, this place still doesn't seem to have it all figured out. But, we have found that the delivery aspect of the business seems to work. They arrive quick, the drivers are friendly and the food arrives warm and intact. I have found that the quality of the pizzas has also improved to the standards of the Scarborough location. Of course, I still don't totally love their brand of pizza, but when the toppings are good and the cheese is generously portioned and not overcooked, the resulting product is enjoyable enough. The dining room experience still falls short of expectations. Been there twice and both times the waits were one hour for pizza, 40 minutes after apps were delivered. Simply inexcusable. Especially the second time, when it was half-filled house on a chilly Sunday evening. And really, parking here is such an enormous pain in the ass, so what's the point of going through that hassle if the experience itself is lacking? Better, yes. I love the pizza but continually am disappointed by their delivery. In this post Covid world, it seems this would be a priority. Tonight, I put in my order at 4 pm for a 5:30 delivery. At 5:30, no food, 5:45, no food...I called and my order arrived 20 minutes later and the pizza was only luke warm. That makes me think they forgot me all together because my home is only 15 minutes from the restaurant and if I hadn't called, I would still be waiting. Great food doesn't make up for bad service. We get there and it's dead so we're confused why no one answered. We mention it and they laugh about it. We get seated and order. I swear the table next to us was dirty the entire time we were there. I Love Portland Pie, it has delicious pizza for everyone, the adults can have there type and the kids can have there kind, what I'm saying is there is pizza for everyone. The waiters and waitresses are very nice especially Katie, who was our waitress and was amazing! The wait is not very long for your pizza and you can just relax and talk and have a good time with your family or friends. The meat they did include on a salad was probably a day old. Get home and make a call. "YES, We will certainly give you a gift card for full amount. Our system needs attention..". I have heard great things about Portland Pie from several people. I've had it before and it was lovely, but this last time I had it, it was less than to be desired. I honestly feel like I could have gone to Little Caesars and got the same pizza, if not a better one for a third of the price. For all that it's raved up to be, I wouldn't suggest going here. Not really impressed with this place. Live 5 minutes away drive past it every day. Just moved to Maine and not really sure of where to eat. Pizza was really not good at all. I ordered fresh mozzarella and prosciutto which was $2.00 more and there was a tiny piece. The caprese sliders where nothing but bread. Their pizzas are very well done and never disappoint, but for a pizza place you'd think they'd have a good Calzone available. Got a meat lovers calzone today and it was complete garbage. Open the box and I see that it's completely collapsed at one end and solid dough on the other. It is soggy and not pre sliced (like every other place that makes calzones). Hoping the fillings and taste makes up for the terrible appearance, I was severely disappointed again. For a meat lovers calzone I was only able to see/taste and observe a tiny amount of meat, truly less then 10% of the calzone was meat. The rest was filled with some cheese and sauce and then overpowered and overstuffed with ricotta cheese. I believe they need to seek outside council and give a complete makeover to their calzones unless they wish to be a complete joke on everything else on their menu expect regular pizzas... read more

Not really sure why the average rating is 2.5 stars. The pizza is the best in southern maine and the staff is friendly. The parking sucks but not a good reason for such a low rating.
