    Cod Cakes

Porto Bello is a beautiful restaurant right on the water. We visited before high season, so it was still quiet, but not empty. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was a little underwhelming, but the Bello Spritz cocktail was good. We started with the burrata and cod cakes, which were probably our favorites. Both appetizers were paired perfectly with their accompanying salads. The cod cakes lacked a bit of flavor, but the sauce helped. We also ordered the meatballs, which were tasty, but nothing out of the ordinary. For the main course, we ordered the linguine and clams and were disappointed in the lack of flavor. I did have to ask for some salt and pepper to add some seasoning. The dish would've been fantastic with some more flavor, as the seafood in the pasta was good. We might return for some cocktails and appetizers since the view is so beautiful and the ambience in the summer must be great, but we won't come very hungry.

Whether you come by boat, car or walk this restaurant is definitely a treat! Located right at safe harbor Greenport the views can't be beat ! The food is so fresh and almost too pretty to eat . The service is amazing. No shortage of staff here. I recommend making a reservation ! I went for dinner, but I believe they are also open for lunch .

Went here for our "fancy dinner" as a family and as expected (especially for the prices) literally everything was delicious. Service was lovely and the view was beautiful! A sprinkle of salt would have made these dishes even better but it was yummy as it is!

Outside Seating. A little too cool for me

Dinner date at Porto Bello tonight. We've been here before and really enjoyed it. It was closer to winter when we came so sitting outside on the patio was not an option. This restaurant is location within a marina and in the water. Sort of a destination restaurant. Mostly patronized by people coming in after a day on their boats. Tonight the weather is pretty good so I figured we would go there and maybe sit on the deck. I read some reviews on yelp and saw a theme... "Service very Slow ". Well let's see if they listen to yelpers. We are seated very quickly on the outside deck but then it starts. Waitresses walking past us like we're not even there. With my patience running thin and wanting to kick myself for not listening to yelp reviews, we mention to the hostess about what's going on. Genuinely apologetic, she corrects the situation immediately and puts out first round of drinks on the house. I'm feeling much better. From here on service was excellent. We started with their app of meatballs. Delicious. My wife had the chicken picatta, and I had a pasta dish with crumbled sausage. Both meals were excellent. Desert was coffee and their homemade cannoli. A little too creamy for me. When the bill came the waitress pointed out the comped drinks were not on the menu. Another nice touch. As the evening went on it was getting a little cool. A hostess came around with a basket full of shawls for the ladies. A really nice touch. After the averted disaster of slow service, the evening turned out very nice. I recommend Porto Bello. In fact if you take me out on your Yacht we can dock there for dinner. My treat.

We stopped in on a whim to celebrate our 36th anniversary . The space was bright & welcoming as was the staff. Our server Micheal was professional , efficient and very friendly - certainly an asset to the establishment . The cocktails were delicious and our meals was very good. A nice variety on the menu. We will be back for certain.

What an incredible time! The location is beautiful with a modern sunset, youthful vibe. All of the staff were incredibly nice and thoughtful. When it started to rain they swiftly helped all the guests to get inside with the food. The music that plays gives a Caribbean vibe. The FOOD was outstanding. I never eat dessert but everything was so good I had to try everything. I cannot wait to come back!!

Why have I been walking past Alpina everytime I'm in Greenport?…read more Was it the dark atmosphere? Did I think I was getting just another American-German influenced restaurant with only brats and potato pancakes? Did I expect polka? The experience was actually slow and refined, without the white tablecloths. Alpina has German, Swiss, and slightly Northern Italian influenced cuisine, along with a selection of alcohols I was completely unfamiliar with... which made the experience feel full of new things. The most memorable food was actually one of the simplest. The chef prepared incredibly creamy, caramelized onions with a slight sauerkraut tang that was amazeballs. I told our waiter that I'd write him a love letter over it, and here I am! The pappardelle had shredded duck, cheese, and big, fun, chewy noodles that were satisfying to slurp. It just needed a dash of pepper to elevate it. The meat and cheese board included a few things I'd never tried before, and it was so good I was searching for a meat shop in Manhattan so we could buy them again. Portion sizes aren't huge for the price, but it was worth it to us. Don't be afraid of the dark entrance, the ligonberry on the menu, and ask the bartender about the connection between the giant copper gnome and penguin shaker gone rouge.

Don't let the outside of this place fool you because looks are definitely deceiving. We were cautious coming to this place due to the appearance of the outside, but once we were in it was so much fun. Agus, aka rawbartender, was Ah-mazing and truly made the night fun. He was truly such a vibe!! I ordered the SpongeBob, which was Goslings rum, pineapple spice, ginger, lime, angostura bitters. Especially with the show that was put on, my drink tasted even better. It was a Smokey, yet smooth and refreshing drink! We also got the Snow White, on the sweeter side made with Pear vodka, orgeat, pear juice, lemon juice, cinnamon. And of course, we can't forget our schooling in tequila and Mezcal from Agus. He was very informative of what he was serving and we tried a few different shots. He gave us the rundown of how you're actually supposed to taste tequila. And I have to say I've never had an experience like that before. I wish the party didn't stop and I will definitely be coming back specifically for Agus and of course the drinks!

Unfortunately, that wasn't possible during this visit because our waitress rarely checked on us, so I wanted to share our experience here. We made a reservation and weren't sure if it specified indoor or outdoor seating, so we called ahead. We were told that getting an upstairs outdoor table would be no problem. However, when we arrived, we were told our reservation was for inside seating only and that the wait for outside would be an additional 1 hour and 45 minutes. We really wanted to sit outside, but rather than make an issue of it, we decided to stay inside. Looking back, we probably should have left. The cocktails were underwhelming, especially considering the price. The highlights of the meal were the duck wings and calamari appetizers, which gave us high hopes for the entrees. Unfortunately, the entrees were a major disappointment. Two people ordered the halibut, and while we understand halibut is a delicate fish that can be difficult to prepare, the dish lacked flavor overall. The foam that came with it tasted horrible--almost soapy--and although the rice and eggplant were good, they weren't flavorful enough to complement the fish. I ordered the tuna burger and specifically requested it cooked medium because I didn't want it to be dry. Unfortunately, it arrived very dry, was falling apart, and lacked flavor. I ended up asking for a side of teriyaki sauce just to make it enjoyable- that didn't help at all and left half the sandwich in my plate. The tuna burger was supposed to come with sweet potato noodles, but they were out-which is not an issue for me, usually. The waitress asked if I'd like a substitute. None of the suggested sides appealed to me, so I asked if I could have the sweet potato purée instead since I saw it for the duck entree. Instead, I was initially served fries. I asked the person who served me, if I can get the puree, the server was confused but eventually understood. When the purée finally arrived, it was unfortunately inedible. The texture and taste reminded me of baby food, and even adding salt and pepper didn't help. I passed it around to the other folks at the table, all saying the same thing. What made the experience even more disappointing was the service. Our waitress never came back to check on our meals, so we never had the opportunity to share our concerns while we were dining. She spent much of the evening chatting with other staff members and seemed distracted with friends and kids running around near the lobster tank. When we finished, another server brought us the check, and no one asked how our meal was or if everything was satisfactory. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, especially for the amount we spent. The restaurant itself is beautiful, clean, and has a great atmosphere, but unfortunately the food and service did not justify the price. We left wishing we had chosen somewhere else.
