We are a group of 4 that booked last minute on resy for 7:30pm dining in the dining room since the outdoor was too cold. We arrived early and were told our table is still finishing up. We didn't wait that long afterwards since our reservation is at 7:30pm. The staff was on top of it, giving us water and bread then giving us more bread. I also appreciate how the staff apologize because they are understaffed today which is understandable but the wait for everything was not bad. We left around 8:45pm. Food: Linguine with clam sauce was great, def will get it again. Calamari was great, the batter was not thick and the calamari was not overdone Baked clams and Salmon was ok decent Shrimp scampi will be the one I won't order again because it was too bland imo. Not enough lemon/sour, not enough garlic and I wish there was cheese. Overall great location, parking, and experience. Everyone was extremely friendly and hardworking. Staff, not enough, were all over the place, chaos, owner hid in kitchen would not come out as patrons were angry and wanted to speak to him They had the nerve to charge full price after telling us drinks were on them and worse than mediocre food. We refused to pay and left 90 tip for the poor guy who waited on us and 50 other people that he kept apologizing to. Worst restaurant experience ever, they should be ashamed of themselves. Friends of ours told my husband and I about this restaurant when they found out we would be staying in Greenport on our boat. A local driver in the area mentioned this restaurant without knowing that it was already recommended to us and said it was a five star restaurant for sure! My husband and I decided to give it a try, and we weren't disappointed. They legitimately have the BEST calamari we've ever had, and we consider ourselves to be experts in that area since we try it everywhere we go. Porto Bello is a beautiful restaurant right on the water. We visited before high season, so it was still quiet, but not empty. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was a little underwhelming, but the Bello Spritz cocktail was good. We started with the burrata and cod cakes, which were probably our favorites. Both appetizers were paired perfectly with their accompanying salads. The cod cakes lacked a bit of flavor, but the sauce helped. We also ordered the meatballs, which were tasty, but nothing out of the ordinary. For the main course, we ordered the linguine and clams and were disappointed in the lack of flavor. I did have to ask for some salt and pepper to add some seasoning. The dish would've been fantastic with some more flavor, as the seafood in the pasta was good. We might return for some cocktails and appetizers since the view is so beautiful and the ambience in the summer must be great, but we won't come very hungry. read more

Atmosphere is very nice, service was slow and we would have been ok with that as it was a relaxing Sunday until a whole glass of beer was accidentally dropped on my husbands lap and into his dinner plate (pork chop) by the waitress. He was soaked!! Accidents happen right? Absolutely!! I wouldn't have posted this review if it was made right but she never offered to replace the dinner. Honestly there wasn't much conversation about it at all. When the bill came, they gave 2 other people at the table 2 free drinks. I guess that was their way of apologizing. Dinner date at Porto Bello tonight. We've been here before and really enjoyed it. It was closer to winter when we came so sitting outside on the patio was not an option. This restaurant is location within a marina and in the water. Sort of a destination restaurant. Mostly patronized by people coming in after a day on their boats. Tonight the weather is pretty good so I figured we would go there and maybe sit on the deck. I read some reviews on yelp and saw a theme... "Service very Slow ". Well let's see if they listen to yelpers. We are seated very quickly on the outside deck but then it starts. Waitresses walking past us like we're not even there. With my patience running thin and wanting to kick myself for not listening to yelp reviews, we mention to the hostess about what's going on. Genuinely apologetic, she corrects the situation immediately and puts out first round of drinks on the house. I'm feeling much better. From here on service was excellent. We started with their app of meatballs. Delicious. My wife had the chicken picatta, and I had a pasta dish with crumbled sausage. Both meals were excellent. Desert was coffee and their homemade cannoli. A little too creamy for me. When the bill came the waitress pointed out the comped drinks were not on the menu. Another nice touch. As the evening went on it was getting a little cool. A hostess came around with a basket full of shawls for the ladies. A really nice touch. After the averted disaster of slow service, the evening turned out very nice. I recommend Porto Bello. In fact if you take me out on your Yacht we can dock there for dinner. My treat. read more

Was in the area on Saturday night with a friend. We called the restaurant and asked if they had a wait for two people. They said that there was two parties ahead if we came in so we said sure and they put my name down. We walked in and grabbed a seat at the bar when they said maybe 20 minute wait. We got a glass of wine ($9/glass). Waited about ~15 minutes or so at the bar. But noticed a group walk in and get seated right away. I walked up to the hostess to make sure they didn't forget about us... and they did. She accidentally crossed my name out but said if I wanted to sit on the deck where the bartender would be our server at a high top we could sit right away. Or if we wanted to sit on the back deck it would be another 30 minute wait. So we sat on the side deck with the bartender server- we didn't care. She took a while to get to us though.. but she was hustling running around, we felt so bad for her. I really think the restaurant was short staffed and not organized at all. Apps: Caesar salad and fried calamari. Fresh and delicious. Fried calamari was a little chewy but had a good taste, the marinara and garlic aioli was tasty too. Entrees: Alla vodka was greattttt, definitely recommend. Filet mignon was so tender and melted right in your mouth. Demi glaze was good too. Came with fingerling potatoes and asparagus. Only negative was the service and our experience with the host. I really think the restaurant was poorly staffed. Even though the bar itself is tiny, there was only ONE bartender tending the bar AND making the service drinks, while the other bartender was tending the bar and running around to the high top tables. The other bartender was also really off with his Martini poors. But I think it was because he was just really overwhelmed making 12 drinks at a time. What a nice surprise to stop into this hidden gem away from the Greenport hustle and bustle . We were early for our reservation but because it wasn't busy (5pm on a Saturday) we were promptly seated in a great spot along the water. Excellent arugula salad with figs, prosciutto and shaved Parmesan cheese, lobster roll dressed with a light lemon aioli, and seared Montauk tuna with risotto dinner. When you think of a restaurant on the East End by the water, you think of a relaxing atmosphere with fresh and local food. Porto Bello, under new ownership and having been beautifully renovated is definitely an ideal place to visit in Greenport. Today was their first day with table service in their gorgeous outdoor porch area. The ambiance was wonderful with palm trees and carefully planned out flower beds surrounding me and my parents at our table, it felt like we actually were on vacation. Our server Dave was courteous, attentive (our water was always filled and never got empty, and he checked on us a few minutes after our apps and dinners came out to see how our food came out), and did a great job of cleaning the table throughout the meal. Now it's time to talk about the food! Debuting a new menu today, they currently feature 13 items on the menu. Personally, I love small menus, because the quality and consistency of the food is higher and the mastery and execution of the food tends to be better. For appetizers we had the Caprese Salad and the Calamari Frito. The Caprese Salad featured freshly picked local heirloom tomatoes, with mozzarella, basil, balsamic, and EVOO. You could truly taste the freshness of the mozzarella, and the tomatoes were perfect. The EVOO really was a standout and complimented the dish well. The Calamari was served with friend lemon, lime, two large pieces of fried artichoke, caper berries, and a delicious homemade marinara. What stood out about the Calamari was how they were lightly fried and breaded and still had a great crisp and crunch. They weren't oily or greasy, and were great to share. For mains, my mother had the Chicken Milanese, which was panko crusted with a salad of mixed greens, pickled onions, heirloom tomatoes, goat cheese, tossed with a basil vinaigrette. The Chicken was cooked perfectly on the outside and was moist and juicy on the inside, something that you don't always get with Milanese as sometimes the Chicken can be dry. My father had the Linguini and Clam Sauce which had a nice portion of local clams, and didn't overload on the pasta. Also something he enjoyed was that the garlic and white wine sauce was a little thicker than most sauces and not watery, which he really enjoyed. Finally, I had the fish and chips. I was given two generous pieces of battered and fried locally caught striped bass, served over house made malt vinegar chips, with a delicious house made remoulade sauce (which complimented the fish so well). The striped bass was fried perfectly, was flaky, and you could taste the freshness. The chips were think, crunchy, and reminded me of kettle chips, they were definitely addicting! The fish was seasoned well and honestly can be enjoyed without even trying the remoulade sauce, which I think really speaks for how well the fish was done. Bruce and his partner Peter, who both went around talking to guests throughout the afternoon, have the potential for something special here. You can feel and see their passion and the fact that they are both locals themselves, they understand and know the community and will make regulars of Porto Bello from the past happy with the updates and changes, while also attracting new people. Because it's not on main street, it has a secluded feel and whether you have a boat and want to dock near by or want to make a day trip out East, Porto Bello is a place worth trying and will be a place I will go to again and highly recommend to others. read more

The food was top notch. The Tuna tartar app was like butter. As fresh as could be. The muscles were also fantastic. The bouillabaisse was out of this world. I'm not quite sure why Billy's was packed and Porto Bello was empty. No comparison on the food, atmosphere or service. We were pleasantly surprised with how good our meal was from start to finish. Everything took forever to get to the table - drinks/bread/entrees - and then my main came about 25 minutes after everyone else's... by the time it arrived my party had been done eating for awhile. I think they forgot to put it in or something. I'd like to also point out the place was dead and more than half of restaurant was empty! It didn't make sense why it took so long. Also would like to mention the wait staff was often rude when we made requests or asked for things like plates, silverware, etc On top of that the food really wasn't that great my filet was meh not worth $60. Pros: Great location on the water, friendly service, inside of the restaurant is quite nice with beautiful bathrooms. Would have left two stars if not for this. Cons: The food... it is incredibly overpriced for very mediocre food. The penne alla vodka was $32 for overcooked boxed pasta with a basic sauce that wasn't great. The pesto pasta with shrimp added (4-5 pieces) was about $45. The shrimp were good, but the pasta and sauce were very bland. I know prices have increased on the North Fork recently, but it's absolutely absurd to charge that much for store bought pasta from a box with extremely average sauce. I go frequently to some of the best Italian restaurants in the city that charge less than $30 for amazing homemade pasta. We unfortunately will not be returning for food, possibly for drinks. read more

We went here for the first time on July 4th. Had reservations for 8pm and were seated right away. It appeared that most people ate outside for amazing views but we elected to eat inside with great views too. We had the seafood platter which was amazing. Beautiful decor and they had a great bar area too. When we left, we sat by the fire-pit and watched the fireworks. read more

The dinners were walking in and out of the dining area without masks. The bar tenders were not wearing masks., And the most of the servers were wearing their masks beneath their noses and one bus boy wasn't wearing one at all. That being said the meatballs were the best I ever had. The eggplant was okay. I liked the addition of fennel to the linguini and clams but there was way too much garlic. We went there on a nice sunny day not CRAZY windy so we were hoping to sit in the outside, however we were told that they can't open the umbrellas at that time because it's windy. Unfortunately, their outdoor patio was under full sun so it was intolerable to sit outside when u feel like you are being baked so we ended up sitting inside. If you are in a group of 5 and above, they will be able to put you in a bigger table where they could possibly open an umbrella on a bigger table. Long story short, their umbrellas are useless and flimsy. They should solve the problem and should be able to utilize those umbrellas like cement the base or something. Or put up an awning or a tent or put up tall trees for shade... not everyone are comfortable sitting inside due to covid but we were left with no choice. Just a heads up. My bf and I came here Saturday 7:15 pm. It wasn't super crowded but there were people inside and out. Overall food:3/5 Overall service/experience 1/5 Service/Experience: Terrible. One of my worst experiences ever at a decently expensive restaurant (30-50 dollars an entree) After they sat us down and gave us water, they completely forgot about us! We waited 15-20 min before we had to call someone to order. We waited another 10-15 minutes for a server to come. When the server came she said we weren't in the system?? We ordered 2 entrees and waited a good 20 minutes for our food to come. What's worse? We didn't realize and weren't told until AFTER we already ate that there were daily specials and things not on the menu?? (We realized this by Over hearing the server from another table) Anyways we got our food in 20 minutes and the server after giving us our food made 0 rounds to our table, didn't ask for dessert. We have to call someone AGAIN to just get the check and tell them that we were done. Oh, and during our meal we realized they were also offering scarves for people sitting outside (we. We're outside) and unsurprisingly we were never offered any! food: A solid 3/5. Good ingredients and sauces but something was off about each dish. Garganelli alla vodka - The description said it was simple vodka sauce with pancetta over Al Dente Past. The pasta was way overcooked and definitely not al dente Montauk Tuna - the tuna itself was nice (really fresh), and it was on a bed of rice with balsamic reduction. Flavors were nice but the rice was undercooked. Some of the rice was so hard my bf couldn't chew it. Overall, very disappointing experience. Won't come again. read more
