My first visit to the Southold location and also my first visit to a Maroni's since the untimely passing of Chef Mike Maroni. The best, and most important thing to me is that Mike's spirit is everywhere, especially in the Kitchen!! I did the full tasting menu and it was every bit as good as I remembered from trying this amazing food experience back when Mike Maroni was in the kitchen in Northport. The Rock and Roll music is also still playing the dining room, just as Mike insisted on. The staff is friendly and attentive. My wife and I were seated at a two top, adjacent to a large family party. Our waitress was aware enough to pick up on the noise level coming from that group and offered to relocate us to a table further away from the noise. *the people seemed to be very nice. Its just that there were about 12 people having a really good time. That can get loud in such a cozy place. Maroni's provides a wonderful dining experience with outstanding price to value ratio, with tips included in the menu prices and a wine list with all bottles at $75. Love this place! Love the vibe, love the staff, and love the food! Four of us were there on Tuesday night. I mention Tuesday because, in Southold, you can get sushi on Tuesdays -- if you pre-order. So, we pre-ordered our sushi and then ordered from the menu for the balance of our meal. Did I mention that we all love the staff? They are so gracious and warm and make you feel like home. We started with some white wine. It was a great choice. Then we had the spareribs with gummies, greenbeans, gagootz, meatballs, and oysters. The oysters were just ok, but it hasn't been the best season for local oysters. Everything else was great. The gagootz is our favorite! We were too full this time for dessert. Had a great experience at Maroni! We went on a Tuesday afternoon...not many people dining. Great music, comfortable experience & cool Decor. Our waitress was great throughout. We did the full tasting! Everything we had was great! I'm a bit of a picky eater and was able to enjoy every item. Maybe a few things were a little salty but overall no real complaints! I liked all the wine we sampled (minus one -I wasn't a huge fan) but they had plenty of options to choose from. They let us know they don't always follow the menu posted on their website! Just Fyi! Very weird restaurant and the waitress we have gotten on multiple occasions just made us really uncomfortable. Not sure arrogant is the right word or condescending, but it wasn't a pleasant experience and we got her multiple times. I will say the sushi on Tuesday is exceptional and the Italian food is ok not great. I've had similar Italian food at a higher end pizza parlor and don't really think it's worth the price. Our last experience involved, my husband asking for bread to go with his salad and pasta. You would think we broke some cardinal rule the way this waitress reacted, which is basically we don't serve bread, but we had taken out garlic bread so my husband asked if he could order that, and she rolled her eyes and said, sir I don't serve bread period. Both me and the person I went here with ended up getting sick from this place, ruined the rest of our evening. I am pretty disappointed. The food was not great. I've had better food at a brewery...if I didn't get sick I'd give it 2 stars because the service staff was nice. read more

I really don't know how this is one of the best restaurants in North Fork. The food looks and tastes like buffet, if not worse. Compared to the price the food is offensively poor in quality. We tried multiple appetizers and dishes from the Kobe Burgers, Pastrami, and Truffle Grilled Cheese and it was not good at all. The Kobe burgers were worse than airport sliders and Great Value beef. The chicken in the chicken parm is definitely frozen, and the chicken cubes in the penne alla vodka are miscellaneous and do not settle well at all. The food is very mid and below average, especially compared to the price. I understand Greenport is a beach town, but that does not justify a poor experience especially in quality of food. I would not recommend going here, save your money and go somewhere else. read more

I was highly disappointed with my dinner experience recently with friends of mine. My main issue was the service that I received. After our order was placed-they brought out all our entrees and forget to bring out the appetizers. After we expained this to the waitress they had a attitude and instead of giving us our appetizers they became confrontational. This was extremely unnecessary and placed a damper on our dinner. On top of this when the waitress brought out the bill she threw it on the table-she knew it and gave a sheepish apology. When you include your tips on the cost of the meal-which I am sure are heafty I would expect at least average service. Needless to say when the food eventually came out it was mediocre at best. read more

For two years, I've heard nothing but wonderful praise for this local restaurant. If anybody lives on the north fork? You know that finding a good restaurant on a Tuesday is next to impossible. Well this is one good restaurant. Tuesday is sushi night at Moroni. Excellent excellent quality sushi. I would have given the review five stars except the price is a little high. Will I go back again? Absolutely time to try what else they have at this wonderful restaurant. read more
