I bought a new chair from them. it's been giving me problems with suddenly swerving me into walls. I have a couple of ugly deep bruises as a result. I bought some of the parts needed & hired a person to repair them. Got it mostly done. But one day about 10 days ago, the beast just stopped cold. I tried charging it, no luck. I keep trying g to call them & get no response. The older chair still needs a new seat. When they have spoken with me, theyre nice. but my problems continue. read more

I've had my Ranger for FOUR years and it's taken me MANY miles with absolutely NO problems (other than occasional driver error). The only trouble I've had is the same as Chuck F. It's hard to negotiate tight spaces around my apartment, narrow aisles in stores, etc. There isn't a low enough speed. The chair is light enough for my daughter to lift into the back of the car. My only criticisms would be the cushions are terrible, the foot rest is so short my feet hang over the front of it. My friend made me a backpack that is velcro-ed onto the back rail which is much bigger and useful than the little one on the seat back. She modeled it after bicycle saddle bags. I would recommend everyone get some kind of flag because I've twice come close to disaster because I'm lower than most car windows (line of vision). I need a new cable that extends from the chair to the charger. Can you tell me if it needs servicing? read more

I have had my light weight ranger discovery for one year now. Would not know how to live without it. I am able to stand on my own for even about five minutes move around a little, but that is the extent of my ability. This chair allows me to go for my walks again I used to walk every day, but after the accident I have been unable I don't even have to stay on pavement. Do you remember there's a learning curve, though please got myself in a jam or two being a bit silly, thinking, I was indestructible in there, but wow I have banged it up a few times too and it works perfectly. We were so happy with it that my husband has had arthritis since childhood and is unable to walk more than about 20 feet and we bought him one and yes he goes for walks with me. We've been North Dakota, South Dakota, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri and looking to go a lot more. Thank you, Potomobility. read more

I ordered the chair less than a year ago and have only used it to go to the doctors and inside. The nuts and bolts are falling off of it and the seat back cushion tore at the seam. The foot rest won't stay in the upright position making it dangerous to get in and out of. I've been trying to work with the company to get replacement parts since December or 2021 and while they promised to send the parts they have not arrived. They also say that the seat back isn't under warranty and due to wear and tear. Since I said it was not due to wear and tear and asked them to send a replacement when they send the other parts they have ghosted me. I am on a fixed income and this chair was a sacrifice to afford. Now I have a chair that I can't use because parts have fallen off and the company won't honor their stated 2 year warranty. Taking money from people who have very little resources and delivering a product that is substandard is what you can expect from these folks. read more

I bought a wheelchair from these guys and I've put it through hell by checking it as luggage (a big benefit) on my many flights. The airlines of course managed to damage it several times (Atlanta airport is the worst) slightly but Delta paid to repair it. It was never broke to the point of it being unusable. These guys have tremendous patience and excellent customer service. They have helped me out repeatedly. read more

I've been trying to work with the company to get replacement parts since I bought the chair and while they promised to send the parts they seem to take a long time to show up. That's after having to send videos and constantly having to text them for a resolution. I have replaced 2 motors, 2 CPU's. one controller and cables. That corrected the problem for about 15 operating hours. I have been trying to get help from them for over 3 months and have been GOASTED by the guy in Orange County. They also advertise they will come out t your house and a TEch will install parts or make any necessary work. NOT true they will send out parts but you have to install them. Also they say they are an American Company. That is just a play on words the company was formed in California but the chairs are made in China, the Portola Tech LLC is owned by a guy from Turkey. So the only thing United States about this company is where they might pay taxes. So after less then a year of owning this chair it works a lot of the time, under performs and still does not do as they advertise. I am having the same issues that I did before motors making noises, will not turn sometimes, controller does not always respond and shuts off by it self. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PRODUCT!! I've had this chair for a little over a year now and within the first 2 months the joystick failed. This process took over a week and a half leaving the chair completely unusable. Then shortly after that the chair started making a clicking, grinding noise in the right wheel motor assembly and it would also occasionally outright bind up along with the chair starting and stopping at low speeds. I was required to send a video and they acknowledged there was an issue and felt a new computer would solve the problem. I got the new computer and installed. It did resolve the start and stops but did nothing for the wheel motor assembly issue. I'm 6 months into the chair at this point. I continued to reach out to them trying to get the wheel assembly replaced and they ultimately sent a note saying they spent enough money on this chair and were not going to do anything more. They have stopped responding to me at this point. I guess this was a waste of 3k! It's sad how they can try and get away with doing this to someone. UPDATE: I received a response after posting this negative review and not surprisingly this is what they wrote to me "We will go ahead and send you a right wheel and we can hope on the phone to increase reverse. In order to do that we kindly need you to remove it first" They have not acted in good faith so I told them I would not remove until the chair was repaired and as I suspected they stopped communicating with me again. ABOUT CLIMBING ABILITY: Just a word of caution, the maximum climbing ability that was claimed in the manufacturer's user manual that came with the chair was only 12-degrees, not the 25-degree claim that was on the website the day I bought the chair. So, if you are looking to climb slopes greater than 12-degrees, you might be disappointed. read more

I purchased Porto Mobility's "The Beast" due to its advertised off road capability. I have found that it does seem to perform well in soft spongy grass and some dry dirt areas. However, it has one significant drawback when maneuvering in tight spaces either inside or outside. The motors that they use are not what is called "soft start" motors. They are instant on/off which causes very rapid, jerky motion when trying to turn at low speeds. This makes it very difficult to maneuver around objects at low speed, like doorways, tight corners, furniture, etc.. This unpredictable jerky response could result in injury to the user or damage to objects your trying to get around. The manufacturer should use soft start motors to make the slow speed turning much smoother and therefor much easier and safer. read more
