Portofino's Italian Restaurant Review We made a reservation for 12 on a Sunday and honestly... just hoped for the best... But when we showed up? They were ready for us. And that alone deserves a standing ovation, because let's be real--large groups on a Sunday can turn into absolute chaos. Now multiply that by three groups and toss in kids... yeah. But the staff handled it like pros. Our party of 11 (6 adults, 5 kids, and a baby) was taken care of the entire time, and somehow the whole meal felt smooth, easy, and actually enjoyable. The Food, We came hungry and did not hold back: Bruschetta Lunch (x2): Fresh, garlicky, and piled high with tomatoes and basil on perfectly broiled bread Fried Cheese Sticks (x2): Classic, crispy, and gone in about 30 seconds Kids' Pizzas: Hawaiian + cheese with pepperoni and sausage... zero complaints, which is basically a Michelin star in kid terms Now for the real stars: Portobello Ravioli: This is my go-to and I will not be taking questions. It's rich, earthy, and honestly one of my favorite dishes anywhere. If you like mushrooms even a little... just trust me. Sausage Pepper Parmigiana: Loaded with flavor, hearty, and exactly what you want when you're craving comfort food Chicken Parmigiana: Crispy, cheesy, saucy perfection Kids Spaghetti with Meatballs: Simple, classic, and kid-approved What really made this visit stand out was the service. Managing a group like ours is no small task, and they did it with patience, kindness, and zero stress energy. Drinks stayed filled, food came out timely, and we never felt like "that table." We were looking for a local restaurant to get enough food for our son's wedding rehearsal dinner and found Porta Finos. We had multiple conversations with the manager and the owner (Alfredo) about pricing, food selection and even things like gluten free or dairy free options for some of our guest. They were always responsive, helpful and informative. The food was outstanding! The large platter orders were massive amounts of food. The meatballs on the large platter of Spaghetti and meatballs, where some of the best meatballs our family has ever had. My mother in law is 100% Italian and she said multiple times they were the best she had had, and better than she ever made (that is saying something). We had so many left overs, that we helped feed another round of people at an after wedding get together. Thank you Alefredo and Porta Fino's staff for a job well done! After repeating terrible experiences at this restaurant, I need to revise my review from the 3 stars I gave it originally to a 1 star. If a 0 stars rating were allowed, I would give that. Each time I go the food gets worse and the service moves from bad to terrible to atrocious. The last time we went and actually got seated (skipping the time they had overbooked groups and had us sitting outside as couple after couple who obviously knew the manager got seated until we just left for another restaurant) one member of our party NEVER did get her food. Finally, as we were all leaving, they brought her food which she took with her. Was there ever an apology - no. Did the manager intervene at all - no, in fact when the manager was made aware that there were issues, she simply left. While the service has worsened each time, the food has also gotten worse. Smaller portions, often cold, often not what was ordered. I cannot warn people enough to just stay away. read more

This isn't my first time or review. However this visit didn't start out as well as previous visits. We started with a side salad. The salad was very brown. However, there were a few fresh pieces of lettuce on top. The pizza was as you would expect. My cheese ravioli was very good. My husband had the chicken Parmesan, he said it was good but nothing he has to have again. We also did not like the soda. It was suposed to be Coke but both the Coke and sprite seemed flat and didn't taste good. So we ordered bottled sodas. read more

We ordered a couple pizzas. We picked them up on Sunday. They were still warm when we arrived at home. We live a few minutes away. However, the sausage was a big disappointment. Virtually no flavor whatsoever. There was very little sauce. Why would they make a pizza that lacks sauce? Lots of cheese! If that's what you want. The crust is okay. But they obviously don't run their oven hot enough. The crust was doughy. Not what you'd expect from an Italian restaurant. They gauge $20.99 plus tax for a pizza. Blah blah blah. Seriously. Not worth the money. Little Caesars tastes better than their pizza. A shame that they cannot make a decent pizza. read more

My absolute go to for Italian food in Denton county! My boyfriend's parents go here almost every other week because they love it so much. I live far away so when I come to visit my boyfriend we like to have date night here. The wait staff are all super kind and attentive and sometimes the owner will come by and chat too which is great! My favorites are the baked ziti, stuffed mushrooms, lobster bisque (it's a special so not always available), and ravioli. Highly recommend! read more

No questions asked to what brought us in tonight. It was our 38th wedding anniversary... We ordered house specialty type orders. It took about 30 mins to get our orders. Several tables who came in after us got their orders before us. Maybe they ordered online. This seems to be a problem in this day and age. Restaurants take care of Uber before they take care of in house guests. Got news for you Mom and Pop small town America, that business model ain't going to work.Waitress, who I guess was also was the house bartender we did not see for a good 30 minutes. The house ain't that big (40 seats?) and y'all weren't that busy when we were there. Food finally came after close to 40 minutes. No one ever asked us what we thought of the food, did we need more drinks, etc until we were almost finished with our meal. I was never asked if I want more Chianti. It the waitress or the server dude never asked if we wanted dessert. Again, the food was excellent but the presentation was poor. We live about an hour away from Portifino's and were in the area for an event, and decided to try this place out. When we saw the high rating, I was skeptical because it had only 32-33 reviews, and people often rank Italian places higher than they really are imo. However, I was pleasantly surprised at the flavor profile. I thought this is closest I've eaten to authentic Italian food I had in when I was Italy, a very long time ago. I had the chicken Genovese. The chicken was juicy tender, covered in fresh mushrooms and had an excellent Brandi cream sauce. and they didn't skimp on the mushrooms. The garlic rolls tasted homemade and had slight chewy texture on the outside, which I personally like, However, the inside was soft and fluffy. The salad was fresh and about the normal size of a dinner salad. I wouldn't be opposed to it being a little bigger, but is generally sized as one might expect. The service was fast, and the sever did a good job. The only objection I had was the server reaching over my wife's plate to serve me instead of coming around the table. It was a small detail that might bother some people, so I thought o would mention it. Over all the server was very attentive and did a good job. Over all I was more than pleased, and wouldn't hesitate to go back and try other items on their menu. They do have a decent selection of wines however, this day I didn't try any. read more

Food is always delicious. Frutti di Mare is my favorite. The bread is fresh and filling. The lasagna is my family favorite.

Sadly, we never got to experience this lovely restaurant because we waited for an hour to get seated only to never have a server come to our table until we requested one. Then, once she took our order, it was going to be another hour until we could receive our food. Thankfully, they were busy for a tiny restaurant; however, they just do not have the employees to keep up with the busyness of a Friday night. I heard the food is good though! :) read more

The absolute worst ever. My wife got the lobster ravioli and it tasted like ammonia. I don't know for sure but I feel like really bad lobster may have been the culprit. It was so nasty she spit out the one and only bite she took. I got the frutti de mare and as soon as the waitress set it down, I knew it wasn't gonna be good. The overwhelming smell of bad fish was unbearable. I didn't even bother to taste a bite-I know it was bad. Never again will I trust Yelp ratings. Have lived in the DFW area for decades. Discovered Porto Finos 5 years ago. Although located in a tiny, country town my wife and I absolutely love this place. Alfredo, who is of Italian descent, is always there to cook. Food is as good or better than the most popular, most recognized Italian food restaurants in the metroplex and their prices are far more reasonable. Inside ambiance is classy, warm and inviting but it's definitely not a "white table cloth" or "dressy" place either. We like the fact that it's not loud either. For a small town restaurant, it's service is extraordinary; caring, and "down home" friendly. Hailey, who has years of experience, is our very favorite server. She is so sweet and attentive. We love all the pasta dishes and pizza. Would describe this establishment as country casual, but so good and so special that we chose to celebrate Valentines Night here. We really admire the owner for not "jacking up" prices on holidays. Oh yeah they have a nice little bar that serves wine and beer. Look forward to our next trip to this little, hidden gem. read more

One of the best Italian restaurants I've ever been to. Ordered the calamari to start which was HUGE and perfectly cooked. You can't have the rolls without the garlic and oil sauce. Divine!!!! I ordered the chicken piccata and have never had better. Hubby and dad ordered the "Tour". They didn't even put a dent in it. Mom ordered the eggplant parmigiana and she was in heaven. Oh and I can't leave out the one man band live entertainment with the sax and flute and piano!! We will be back on a regular basis for sure. !! read more

First, their food is phenomenal! Porto Fino's could do well anywhere. But, I'm so happy they're in Krum. The staff is incredibly friendly! They are thoughtful and remember out kids, and they bring them croutons each time we sit down because they know they like them so much.
