This was a lovely place to dine in the area of Geneva. We sat outside on a beautiful night and our server was one of the best. We made the trip from Ithaca for different scenery and upscale dining Father's Day weekend. I chose it more specifically for the Delmonico steak did my husband, so even though it's a nice looking place, I was very disappointed when my husband sent his steak back because it wasn't medium as he had requested. Everything else was fairly good overall. The desserts left something to be desired, the key like pie in particular was quite "runny" and lacked that firm/smooth texture that is usually expected. Pleasantly surprised with the food options in the Finger lakes area, including Ports. Ports cafe was recommended to us by the tasting room manager at one of the wineries we visited on Keuka lake, and we're glad we took her suggestion. We made sure to come on a Wednesday, when they have their date nigh special, which is an app and entrée or entrée and dessert for $38 per person. We started with the sourdough bread and garlic butter (on their standard menu) and a burrata app. Bread and butter was very good- would definitely recommend. Entree's we had were the Barbacoa Tostadas- very flavorful and spicy and the filet with a sauce that was also delicious. We couldn't help but order dessert- a churro cheesecake bar which was to die for. Will definitely return when we are back in the area. read more

The meal, ambience and service did not disappoint! If we lived here this would be on a favorite list of restaurants for us. The Mahi and Ribeye steak were both delicious!! My first indoor dining experience in three months! Ports Cafe has set the bar high for me. 1) Staff are super hygienic, wipes down everything, and wears masks. 2) Ambiance was great. 3) Food was delicious. I did not make a reservation. The bar is available but the bartender was pre-occupied by this one group who was making a ridiculous cocktail. Luckily, there was an available table and we were seated right away. The waiter was great and showed excellent manners. For a group of 2, we probably over ordered upon seeing the many delectable items on the menu. Though the bar was occupied, we were able to get our drinks fairly quickly to start off the meal. We ordered the mussels, lobster gnocchi as starters. The mussels and the house focaccia was fabulous in their sauce. Gnocchi sauce was creamy. I was hoping the ravioli would be overstuffed with lobster... that wasn't the case but still tasty. For entrees, we got the short rib gnocchi and that was amazing, also came with their house focaccia! I took part of it to go since I couldn't eat anymore and it was still delicious the next day. The second entree was the monkfish and it was meaty and fulfilling. My partner was hoping to find the head but to his disappointment, the fish meat was plated and presented neatly. read more

Love this place! Great food and great service. Make reservations ahead of time - it can get full. Order off the specials they have each day. In particular, we loved the hangar steak/scallops entree and this berry coffee cake type dessert. We also enjoyed the burrata appetizer. The sea bass special was great but didn't love the pork dumplings they came with - they had way too much ginger and we generally didn't love the flavor. We ordered tea with our dessert, which came with two small homemade shortbread cookies that were also delicious. Anyway, will definitely come back next time we are in the area! read more

From the outside this place looks like it could be a locals bar? Inside it is gorgeous! The mixture of wood,metal and glass are stunning. We had heard a few good things so we decided to check it out. Boy were we impressed! They have a regular menu and a specials menu, but it's not overwhelming. Our waitress informed us that they are known for their ever changing specials. We all ordered from the specials and everyone loved the special they chose. We also had a boil as an appetizer to share and it was delicious. Three of us shared it and the broth the seafood was in was amazing. We could have eaten it as a soup. We will definitely go back and try different things next time. Highly recommend. read more

Truly, one of the best meals I've ever had. I had the haddock with a creamy corn base which was melt in your mouth delicious. Husband had the shrimp over linguine with the sauce just to die for it. The bread that they serve with the fresh butter was great. We had muscles as an appetizer which were OK, but we soaked up so much of the delicious white wine sauce with our bread. We were visiting several of the wineries in the area and this was highly recommended by several people we spoke to. Dinner menu, can't believe we wanted to try everything on the menu! We ordered the octopus, Colorado lamb, and flank/scallop, chocolate tart. Amazing, as in lick the plate good. We visited here for dinner after several recommendations from the locals, the food and service did not disappoint. We enjoyed our meal, portions were really nice. I couldn't eat all my entree. My only negative comment is the $15 cooking fee, that is a bit much, I can understand $2 or $5 but $15 is ridiculous to me. Lots of yummy sweet crunchy diced apple. I wish the candied nuts had less candy and more nuts; not sure where the nuts were hiding, but they were tasty. The highlight of my meal was the halibut entree. Halibut was perfectly prepared; very crisp on the outside and moist on the inside. Loved the Romesco sauce; I used pieces of broccolini to wipe the plate clean. Loved the garlic broccolini; much tastier than any broccolini I've had before. Love the smashed potatoes; plenty of large chunks of potato in it. Enjoyed the lemon blueberry bread pudding. Lots of fresh blueberries. Would love to return and try other dishes. I brought a seat cushion with me; not sure I would have enjoyed sitting on a solid wood chair for over an hour. Not sure why such a fine restaurant doesn't offer padded chairs. Some more padding might help with the noise level in the restaurant, too. read more

As soon as we arrived I was glad to see that the parking lot was packed.. then you know the food is gonna be good. I highly recommend making reservations as the place was very very crowded. We were immediately seated in a booth (which I prefer because makes for good conversation) for eight people. I ordered soup of the day New England Clam Chowder, very creamy with chunks of potato and clams, very good. My entree was roasted chicken cooked expertly, mashed cauliflower with gravy on top (it almost tasted like mashed potatoes surprisingly! I've never had this and truly enjoyed it and the pièce de résistance was the roasted brussels sprouts that were out of this world! Ate every morsel of my dinner (usually I bring some home). Consistently one of our favorite places year after year! The restaurant is hip for Seneca Lake- cool art on the wall, edison bulbs and a dark interior. Its upscale vs "fancy" in my opinion and usually has a pretty solid mix of students, locals, vacationers and those just passing thru the area. The food is excellent of course, (my favorite thing there is the sourdough bread) but what really makes this place great is the service. Our waiter last night was able to confidently help with menu suggestions, navigating food allergies and wine pairings all while balancing a full dining room. The restaurant's atmosphere was extremely loud, buzzing with patron chatter, which made for a difficult conversation at your own table. We've always liked Ports Cafe but had a subpar experience this week. We ordered wine and take out sitting at the bar. The service was very uneven and when we paid the bill there was no eye contact or Thank You from the bartender. When we got home we realized that instead of the baked potato with sour cream on the side we ordered we got a very rich side of Smashed Potatoes instead. The ribs were very good (as usual) but later in the evening I got a bad case of indigestion possibly from the side dishes being high in fat content. We may go back at some point but it won't be soon. read more

This is my fourth or fifth time here. Every time the food is fantastic and memorable !! The butternut squash ravioli and Brussel sprouts were delicious. The monkfish special with lemon parsley orzo and veggies was superb. Take out Baklava was divine ! Not a traditional baklava - but the apricot walnuts on top were really great ! Our server Andrew did the meal justice with his thorough knowledge of the preparation and what to expect. His descriptions were executed excellently ! He shared that his brother Josh is the executive chef and how he prepares the ever changing menu. Wonderfull experience. Can't wait to return in a few months. :-) PS. This was a nice evening with good food, wine and great service. The ambiance was relaxed but professional, and friendly. I had the Manhattan cut steak and my wife had the shrimp scampi with avocado. We split a great pear/baby greens salad vinaigrette and a bottle of Orin Swift Palermo Cabernet, and a crème brûlée. Definitely recommend them. We had reservations for 2 @830 and was seated promptly when we arrived. Very nice establishment as we walked through one dinning room to where we were seated. We sat down with our menus and water was brought out soon after. A few minutes later our server Melissa came to the table with the specials menu and explained how the items changed daily. My girlfriend wanted to look over the cocktails which were on the specials menu. Melissa said she would give us time to look over the menu and would be back. A few minutes had passed and another server ask if we had been helped. We said yes and waited patiently. Needless to say she didn't come back, but we waited till 915 and decided to walk out. By this time our section had cleared out. When we got back to our hotel room there was a message on my girlfriends phone stating that we walked out with the credit card receipt @834. The specials menu has almost as many options as the standard menu. * Seafood/sweet potato/corn chowder (special) - an interesting take on seafood chowder! The sweet potato made it taste like fall. I loved it but my husband wasn't as impressed. * Sourdough bread with garlic butter (standard) - I think this was the item we were most pleasantly surprised by. Absolutely incredible. * Caesar salad with chicken (standard) - I would omit the chicken next time as the char overpowered the salad. Delicious homemade dressing! * NY strip steak with smashed potatoes (special) - delicious! The Gorgonzola got to be a bit much but overall tasty cut and cook of meat. * Bread pudding (special) - a little dry, but good flavor! Just not the bread pudding we're used to * Crème brûlée, vanilla (standard) - Exactly what you'd expect! I tend to prefer crime brûlée in wider, shallow dishes so that I get a higher ratio of caramelization to custard. This one was served in more of a deep dish but was still delicious. read more

The restaurant was busy for a rainy Wednesday but we did get seated quickly. We ordered 3 different cuts of steak. My wife's fillet was definitely the best of the 3 but nothing blew us away. No bread or side salads without paying an additional fee. Entrees we're typically $30-$50 and come with a potato and mixed veggies. The place is pricey, busy and overrated.
