Of course, the Finger Lakes are KNOWN for wine so we're just thinking we're making reservations for a wine bar (with "speakeasy" vibes). Which that would've been totally cool with us. After continuous back and forth, changing our reservations 50 million times, adding and taking people out, we finally made it to Vinifera on a Friday night and were super apologetic since we had to make yet another change. The staff was absolutely incredible and accommodating, they made sure our party of 10 would be in the same room/table. The only "downfall" was that we'd have to share the room with another small party. Which was absolutely not a problem and we ended up being BFF'S with them by the end of the night. We met the owner Jim - the most incredible human - and he took us down to the speakeasy (which passes right through a super secretive door in the back of the main room upstairs). Side note - the main room upstairs is a vibe on it's own btw and we would've been absolutely fine and happy there. It's an actual wine store and you can purchase all kind of local wines. Be sure to ask and get all the recommendations you want. Not only did we get to enjoy an incredible time but we got a super cool VIP experience and learned the story and so much history about this place, the concept, the origin and what sparked the idea of creating it. That itself, was a treat. On to the actual speakeasy experience. When you go downstairs (through that fun super cool super secretive door) - you're instantly transported to another era, another time. It's dark, it's velvety, chandeliers, spiderwebs (the aesthetic kind, idk if there were actually any but it fit the vibe in my head), Leonardo Da Vinci, Mona Lisa, candles, curtains. There are two super cool rooms, one to the right (which is where our large party sat at) and one to the left - totally recommended for smaller groups, it's cozy, it's chill, you can interact and share with other guests too. Just by this, I'm wowed. As if this wasn't enough, the drinks were absolutely incredible. I ended up ordering some kind of a smoked drink and they happily substituted the regular old fashioned for mezcal. What a dream. Everyone was happy with their drink orders, some ordered some off the menu things and they happily made them - even though they technically only serve what's on the menu. Wine flights are also available if you're in the wine vibe. Bottom line: we loved this place SO much, we came back 2 night's later for our last night. We sat in the other room and absolutely loved and enjoyed it. I had a lavender drink and it was delish. This place is a GEM and you should absolutely check it out and support it if you're in the area. If you're not, well now you have a place I know you'll love to go to!

And because we heard great things about their burgers, we came back just now for another dinner and split one of those too - predictably great, barely any condiments needed really. Juicy, well-cooked and tasty as heck. They have a super extensive wine selection from FLX, France, Italy and all across the U.S., but we tend to order from their cocktail menu - just tried the "Ship of Theseus" today. Overall, it's a great spot for dinner with friends or family, especially if you're in the area and looking for a pleasant dining experience.

I had the pleasure of dining at Ports this past December, and although this review is a bit delayed, I wanted to share my experience. I had visited many years ago, but this time, I was visiting from California. The food was exceptional--everything exceeded my expectations. The Christmas Margarita was a standout, and the cod was absolutely delicious. The service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was just right--comfortable and not overly loud, which made for a very pleasant dining experience. My aunt and uncle are regulars at Ports and dine here nearly every week, which speaks to the consistency and quality of this establishment. Big fan of Ports cafe. Unlike most restaurants they have A TON of specials everyday in addition to their regular menu. This leaves you with so many wonderful options to choose from. My s/o and I have gone to ports a few times and have never been disappointed with our experience. Service is always top notch and the open kitchen keeps things entertaining. Our last visit we split a salad and both went with meals from the specials, a fresh fish and big juicy steak. Finished the meal with a piece of chocolate cake and I'd go back for just that. I was excited to try this restaurant and came for a special occasion. Unfortunately, the restaurant is very loud, and our food wasn't great. The gnocchi had a creamy texture but absolutely no flavor for an astounding $32. The portion is also very small for the price. When I requested an online reservation I received a prompt and friendly callback - and when we arrived the next night, they had a highchair set up and waiting for us. The cocktails were excellent. I don't mind paying almost city prices when drinks are thoughtfully crafted, balanced, and unique - these absolutely delivered. Our server was wonderful. We asked whether the chef could prepare something for the baby and she quickly returned with several options. Since it was his first birthday, we let him splurge and ordered a filet with risotto. The kitchen sent it out right away, which helped avoid an imminent pre-bedtime meltdown. Dad tax applied--the baby's dinner was delicious! The bartender even sent over a small mocktail for him to try - a thoughtful touch. Every entrée at the table was phenomenal and everyone cleaned their plates. The ingredients were fresh, the portions were generous, and the quality was evident throughout the meal. Great food paired with outstanding service made it easy to justify the price, which again, was not extraordinarily high, all things considered. I highly recommend 18th Amendment if you're looking for a dining experience that's a step above the ordinary.

While tasty, neither the ingredients nor presentation justified the price tag. With the mains, I had a glass of Hector wine essence. That was also good. But the egg topped pork chop was chewy and also pricy at $39. The menu promised a hash, but it sat on top of fries. If memory serves, La Portena's crab dish, a special, was announced as a saute, but turned out to be crab cakes. These commanded a $43 price tag. This was a nice enough dish, but expensive for what it was. If you are sensing a theme here, I think the prices here are about 20% higher than they should be. Perhaps we came on an off night. Later that week, we ate at the Burnt Rose, under the same management, and had a better experience.

They also didn't take the order off the check for us which normally that would happen. For such a classy restaurant, we would think they would know how to make waffles and for more top-notch service. I think next time we will just enjoy the nice views and choose to eat somewhere else when we are in the area.
