Been meaning to write this for a while, since last summer in fact!. Saw the nice reviews on fish n chips and the mention that even though it was not right near the ocean the fish was fresh and the fries great, and that is what we found to be true. They drive in to the fish market a few times a week and bring it into the store. There is a display case for fresh fish and of course they cook it up to order. I got the fisherman platter which included fish and chips, perfectly cooked fried nice and crispy fries, with fried clams and fried scallops. Fries were perfect and came with a nice little coleslaw cup too. Couldn't finish it! My buddy got a baked stuff lobster and that took a few minutes. It was stuffed with scallops! We sat outside at one of two little tables. It was a nice day, very pleasant out and quiet a few locals came in to grab take out. The place is well regarded. The owner's dad was cooking, and his girlfriend Kathy I believe ran the counter and both were super nice to talk to. Told us their story. Everyone has one and it's always nice to hear how people come to do what they are doing. Very small store and other than the 2 tables outside it's take-out. Has a case with some items and T shirts. I almost bought one, but they didn't have any XL today. It's located in a little plaza not far from Attleboro that has the Chartley Country store. It's not near to me but it was a fun drive, a good time and the fried fish is fresh and yummy. read more

Very busy today. Ordered clam cakes: 6 Cakes - Received 6 cakes and one clam bit. Not in each- just one. The cakes were not good bytt might have been better with clams. Red Chowder - The opposite of the cakes. Plenty of clam bits that were rather hard and chewy. Service - Pretty decent Facility - Clean Have had better experience in past. What a happy accident that we pulled into the plaza where Portside Fish Market is while looking for food in the area. Their dining menu turned out to be extensive and, not happening to be in the mood for seafood, we appreciated the landlubber options. I had the CRB Sandwich, which I believe stands for chicken, ranch, and bacon. While I'm usually skeptical of chicken breast on a fried chicken sandwich, this was very well done. My guess is that they brine the chicken but, whatever they do, is was super flavorful. The panko-type breading was shatteringly crisp when I first bit in and the bun was moist and delicious. If you like fries with a crunch, you won't be disappointed here. They were spot-on greasy without being overly oily. There's no denying that these people know how to fry food well. Last but not least, the staff were all friendly and accommodating. As others have mentioned, you should expect to wait for food, but it's well worth. read more

**QUARANTINE REVIEW** Order cooked food in the morning if you're interested in ordering anything from here. They only take orders until a certain time even if the place is still opened. Not sure when the cutoff time is but definitely call in advance. Ordered and picked up food here on a Friday night, place is clean and was kinda busy. I ate: Clam cakes - decent size, crispy, not a ton of clam but personally I don't like it drowning in clams so I did enjoy these. My mother who loves her clam cakes with a ton of clam wish these had more so if that's what you'd prefer, I'd reconsider. But again, I liked them! Shrimp poke bowl - huge portion, very fresh ingredients and loved the sauces drizzled on it. Decent size cut up pieces of cooked shrimp and the shrimp was very fresh. What was a little disappointing was the rice, it was sticky but not in a good way - more like it was clumpy and cold and probably been sitting in the fridge for a bit. The topping portion was great but with the large amount of rice that was given, I wish it was a bit fresher. The employees are friendly and the place is clean. We're so glad that we stopped here on a Thursday night! The lobster roll (with butter) and crispy fries were excellent. The clam chowder was creamy and filling; a true treat on a cold day. The store is clean and features many local and imported delicacies. Everything you need for a simple or elaborate fish/seafood dinner right at your fingertips. Many locals stopped by to pick up fresh fish or some take-away dishes. It's easy to understand why this place is popular, even on a week night. Decided to stop by and try this place out as I had heard many great things. Portside fish Market did not disappoint. Everything was made to order and so fresh! Due to this, the wait for the food was a bit longer but trust me, its worth the wait. They have both a store front and a food truck. There is no indoor dining but there are tables outside by the food truck. My friends and I ordered the lobster roll, clam chowder, fish and chips, and crab cake. The lobster rolls were good and the fries that came with it were fried to perfection (crispy but not too oily). The clam chowder was thick and creamy. I personally really liked the consistency rather than a watery chowder. My favorite items were the fish and chips and the crab cake. Please try it if you get a chance! The fish is lightly battered and fried. It came piping hot with tartar sauce on the side and let me tell you.... Even though there was only one giant piece of fish (big sad), it was crispy and juicy on the inside. Easily the best fish and chips I've ever had. The crab cake was also really good and flavorful, you could really taste the crab. They have the crab cakes in a fridge on display but you can ask them to heat it up. First time eating here. We bought 5 pounds of steamers and 2 quart's of chowder. I enjoyed the chowder and we LOVED the steamers. The 5 pounds of steamers came to $30, which I thought was a great price. Also, the steamers where perfect and not one was sandy or didn't open during the steam! My wife and I went to Crow's Nest a month ago, and we ordered 1.5 pounds of steamers which cost $23 and where mostly sandy. We defiantly will be going back to Portside in the future!! read more

First time getting takeout there. We ordered fish & chips, red chowdah, white chowdah and clam cakes. The food was fresh and flavorful. The batter in the fish was not too heavy but a little greasy. This place is excellent if you like hole in the wall, food focused restaurants like I do. The fish sandwich was crunchy on the outside, flakey and buttery on the inside. Tartar sauce is a nice touch in moderation but the fish itself was really the star. The clam cakes were also amazing, somewhere between a crab cake and pull apart bread. Surprisingly light, they went really well a side to share. Right before Christmas I saw Portside posting on Facebook that you could order mini stuffed quahogs for the holidays. I went in and picked up a few of the regular-sized quahogs to see how they were. The day I went they had scallop, plain and chourico. My husband and I preferred the chourico and we ended up ordering six dozen mini ones for various get-together over Christmas as well as some crab stuffed mushrooms. They were a hit and I wouldn't hesitate to order them again. The employees were really friendly and the areas that were visible were very clean. I bought some scallops and enjoyed those as well. I had high hopes for Portside Fish Market. All in all, the experience was ok, but I wasn't wowed by anything. The best part is the friendly, helpful service upon entering the restaurant. We tried both the RI style chowder and the New England style chowder. The RI Style chowder tasted like store bought chicken broth with some clams and potatoes in it. I wasn't a fan. The New England style chowder was actually pretty good and buttery, but a little on the thick side. The clam cakes reminded me of pancake mix with some spices and clams added. They were ok, but could have been better. Some of the clam cakes had big pieces of delicious clam and some of them had no clams at all. The distribution was uneven. The lobster roll looked fantastic with some big chunky pieces of lobster, including whole claws! Very nice. The roll would have benefited a bit from some butter though. The lobster meat was good and fresh, but just needed a little more flavor. Portside Fish Market has a lot of potential, but some of the recipes need a little tweaking to take them to the next level. read more

Both were excellent, lightly battered and cooked just right. Nothing fancy for sure - just good food. However, the highlight was the lobster stuffie- yes LOBSTER!!! It was soooo good. As a lover of a good RI stuffie, this one really stood out. It had just the right amount of spice, the breading mix was airier then most of the dense compacted stuffies you find elsewhere, and the taste was off the charts good. This place is a hidden pearl! It's a real fishmarket, with tables that seat eight people total. My wife and I had the fish and chips, super crispy on the outside, fluffy and tender on the inside, with delicious crunchy hot French fries. I'm not sure what kind of oil to use but you can tell it's high-quality and The fish can't get any fresher. We've had food all over the world and this was by far the best fish and chips we had.
