5 years ago I found this place...and they don't disappoint. Back again and extremely happy with their service and their products. A great way to end our vacation.

Love this neighborhood seafood market! Great little market with super fresh local shellfish, fish, & seafood. Buyer Beware -- once you go in you'll want some of everything!! Guys are friendly & pretty knowledgeable. Ended up with a pound each of the shellfish, mussels, clams, oysters, and a nice chunk of char. So glad they're in the neighborhood, can easily walk over to get stuff for dinner. Highly recommend!! Get a magnet! Eat more local!! P.s. they only take cash

Unfortunately, I was met with an absolutely atrocious attitude from the young lady who served me today. I asked for two whole filets of Arctic Char from the back cooler instead of the two in the front case. Why? Well, the real answer is that it doesn't matter why...I'm the customer paying nearly $60 for fish and if that's what I want, then the correct answer is a smile and a "no problem, let me go get that for you!" Instead, what I got was a look of utter contempt and an "I mean, what's the difference?" sarcastic reply with one palm raised up to emphasize just how ridiculous my request was. When she returned with the fish, I said "just FYI, all that should matter is that I'm the customer (paying top dollar for a premium product), maybe I'm just a bit OCD." Her response, again with that famous Gen-Z contempt, was "I mean, there's no difference, we just brought it (the fish in the case) out, but anyways, I got you your fish." She just didn't get it. The owner overheard everything and chimed in "all of our fish is fresh here, you don't need to worry about that." Yeah, I know that it's a good product, it's why I shop here, but if my unique brain feels better about having it brought out from the back cooler, why should that merit even a drop of bad attitude?! I told the owner, "I just shouldn't have to explain myself," he retorted "you didn't" and I told him "no, actually I did." So basically, I went in looking forward to a nice experience and left feeling really irritated. Sometimes when I'm passing through Westport, I stop by Westport Lobster Company. I always ask for my fish from the back...and all that I ever get is a smile and a "sure, no problem, let me get that for you." I prefer to spend money in my own town, but I'm not going back to this place and neither is my wife...We don't need to be rewarding rudeness with our hard-earned dollars.

It definitely has the little clam shack vibes that makes the experience feel even more authentic. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. I ordered a clam chowder cup and a hot lobster roll. I don't know if it was because I was there in the winter, but the lobster roll was generally affordable, running you only a bit over $27 which is almost unheard of these days. And they didn't skimp out on the meat too ! The lobster roll was filled to the brim and so delicious. The clam chowder was also incredible. I also love that they have a little market in case you want to make any of their seafood at home ! Will definitely become a staple when I come back to visit my parents.

I went on a rainy Monday around noon and there was still a steady flow of customers. It seems to be a pretty popular spot. The staff is all very friendly. The soups were served to us immediately after paying. The New England Clam Chowder was good. Nice amount of clams and very creamy. I had never had Rhode Island Clam Chowder before and this seemed like the place to try it. The clear broth was surprisingly flavorful but I still prefer New England. My girlfriend and I ordered a good amount and the food came out pretty quickly. My favorite was the kung pao calamari. The squid was fried perfectly and having the sauce on the side was nice as it didn't leave the breading to get all soggy and I had control over how sweet it would be. The stuffed Quahogs tasted good but I feel like I tasted more of the stuffing over the actual shellfish. It still tasted good, but I feel like I should've gotten more shellfish. We were told they ran out of shells to serve them on so the presentation was off, but they were still tasty. The lobster rolls were both good. They were $27 which seems pretty steep to me but they were actually on the cheaper side compared to other places we saw around Newport. The lobster tasted fresh and the bread was good. They were solid lobster rolls. The food was all solid, but for the price I wasn't wowed.

It's likely family run, which are the best. Service was fast and responsive. Ambience? What can I say? It's a fish market. It had fish market ambience in spades. That works for me. I'm always searching for new Root Beers. Root beer is produced in every state of the Union and it's always a kick to discover new independent producers. Empire makes one of my favorite Root Beers. They actually make more than a dozen different flavors of soda pop, but Root Beer is the only one I've tried so far. I like Empire Root Beer because it is perfectly balanced. So many independent bottlers produce Root Beers with skewed flavor profiles. Some have too much wintergreen, or too much caramel, or too much something or the other. Empire is smooth. In a sense it's like classic A&W, just a perfect example of what Root Beer is supposed to be. But Empire is not quite as cloyingly sweet as A&W. I've been enjoying Empire for a couple years now. I score mine at Galco Bottle Shop over in the Eagle Rock neighborhood of LA. Every Root Beer has its own ideal serving temperature. Some are better really cold, some are better closer to room temperature. Empire seems to taste better closer to room temperature than icy cold. What I recently discovered was how well Empire works in a Root Beer Float. Wow, is that a great Root Beer for a float! Now, I think I'm going to need to consume about fifty or sixty more floats to be absolutely sure, but my preliminary findings indicate that this might be the most perfect Root Beer for making a float as you can possibly find. I'm eager to continue this important research. I just need a couple cases of Empire Root Beer. I'm starting a Go Fund Me page to finance my work. Mikey C says: I'm really close to a break through. Your donations are appreciated!
