Another great experience yesterday at Andrade's Catch. I traditionally make baked stuffed lobsters on Memorial Day Weekend and this year, with six of us partaking, it was especially important to find lobsters that were high-quality and reasonably priced. I found both at Andrade's. I always shop around, and Andrade's prices were great - significantly lower than anything I could find in the area. The lobsters were properly feisty and Nick was very helpful, selecting six two-pounders for us with equal-width tails. (Important for presentation!) I remove the claws, par boil them, and add the meat to the stuffing. (An old trick I learned from Jed Hanley's Fore 'n Aft back in the day.) Although the claws' shells were thick, and actually required a hammer to crack them, I don't think I've ever gotten so much meat. I also bought a pound of peeled and deveined shrimp and a pound of excellent, fresh and sweet scallops for the stuffing. This year's result was among the best I've made. It pains me to say it but the quality of the last scallops I bought there took a big jump down. I've been going to Andrade's for years, almost every week. But probably not any longer. Over the past couple of years ever since Davey Jr. took over prices have skyrocketed, about 50% for most things. We get it. All costs have gone up. We kept coming for the quality and to support a local business. But... the last scallops we bought there were definitely past their prime. They were too old. When we opened the container at home the smell almost knocked us off our feet. They smelled like they'd been out of the water for way too long. Should have returned them but had guests over for dinner. When cooked they were tough and bland. I'm happy to pay premium prices for fresh seafood especially from a small local business. But when old seafood is passed off for $30/lb it's time to go elsewhere. Love Andrade's Catch, hope Davey Jr. gets it together before it's too late. read more

Quahogs are the foundation to any good "chowda" or for stuffed clams, "stuffies". Unfortunately, most fish mongers where I live in central Mass do not carry quahogs. Fortunately I travel throughout the state and found myself near Providence, RI, where I discovered Andrade's and quahogs. It is an excellent purveyor of seafood. Highly recommended fresh seafood, replete with charming, service oriented fish mongers. I will return at every opportunity. read more

I'm not one to write negative reviews, but this needs to be said. I've lived in town long enough to appreciate how vital our fishing community is--and how much we rely on mutual respect between local businesses and the hardworking people who supply them. Unfortunately, I've seen troubling behavior from this market that undermines that trust. While their seafood might be fresh, the way they treat others in the local fishing scene has raised serious concerns. The owner, once a fisherman himself and now a fish dealer, often seems more focused on controlling the local market than uplifting it. I've heard repeated accounts of him calling the DEM (Department of Environmental Management) on other fishermen--leading to investigations and arrests. These actions don't appear to be driven by concern for regulations, but rather by a desire to intimidate and eliminate competition. If we care about protecting our fishing community, it's time to re-evaluate where we spend our dollars--and where we sell our catch. Buying from and selling to businesses that foster resentment and undermine local livelihoods only hurts our town in the long run. We deserve a seafood scene built on respect, trust, and genuine collaboration. Let's stand behind the markets and fishmongers who support--not sabotage--our coastal traditions. Our local fishermen deserve better respect, and our town needs to stop supporting this family. read more

Love this neighborhood seafood market! Great little market with super fresh local shellfish, fish, & seafood. Buyer Beware -- once you go in you'll want some of everything!! Guys are friendly & pretty knowledgeable. Ended up with a pound each of the shellfish, mussels, clams, oysters, and a nice chunk of char. This is my go to seafood lovers place! Always fresh , always fresh! I mean really we're right on the Narragansett Bay! This is a local seafood market . The kids that work there are always pleasant and really helpful to get what you need. They also have prepared stuffies! I just read they even sell a seafood cookbook! Hey what more do you want! I've gotten quahogs to make my own but if you can get them made for you well!!! It's easy to park usually right outside the store. They also just renovated the outside which looks great! I'll have post a picture when I go again. If you go early in the morning you can watch the guys bringing in there catch .FRESH!!! It's pretty cool living in Bristol. read more

Was not impressed at all. Walked in and it just smelled horribly of dead fish or something bad. Did not look clean and the windows covering the very small selection of fish, clams, scallops, and shrimp was very dirty. When looking at the prices, it could almost give you a heart attack. Everything was way too overpriced and I thought the decent thing to get was the squid at 8.99 a pound. Which is still expensive in my opinion, there are so many more options in the area with fresher and cheaper seafood. But when the guy behind the counter gave me the squid, I was expecting a fresh squid caught from the ocean. He handed me a frozen package that looked like it was from the supermarket. It was literally a pre-packaged bag of squid rings. For something I could get at the supermarket for cheaper, no thanks!! For the other options like fish, you could just fish from the ocean for striped bass or go to the other seafood markets close by. Who on earth would pay 19.99 a pound for scallops or 20 bucks for fish?? Was very disappointed and expected more. read more

Purchased 100 Blue point Oysters 8-20-16. Began shucking them and every other oyster was dead with a small crab eating it. Yes, 50% of them. Called the owner and not only was she incredibly rude but posted that it is "Mother Nature" and that there are bones in Chicken or Fish. My family has been in the restaurant business doing high end functions for 47 years. Yes, I have come across a bad clam or oyster but not 50%. She told me I had no idea what I was talking about because I am not a fish monger. She is correct... I was a customer. Don't shop here. They sell bad seafood, they don't stand behind their product and worse they treat you horribly. If this is common then you should tell your patrons as a courtesy. And if you were reputable you would have exchanged the oysters for a different brand. We were willing to pay more. Knowledge is not a substitute for rudeness and poor service! read more

I had biked by Andrade's many times and last weekend made my first visit. The three young men working were all very friendly and helpful. I had been buying my salmon at one of the big discount stores and after buying it at Andrade's I won't be going back to the box store. The salmon was noticeably much better and my guests all positively commented on wonderful the fish was. I am a fan! read more

Iwe visited Bristol for the weekend and before returning back home, we wanted to buy clams to take home. We were greeted with a very friendly and helpful attitude. Fish selection was not very wide due to the season and past storm the day before but we were told that towards summer time they have a wide variety of local fish. Clams that we got were cleaned well, fresh and they tasted very good. I definitely recommend this friendly place and will be back when we are back in town read more

I've walked by here so many times that I thought it was finally time to stop in. I've seen fisherman outside so many times with their boats still attached to their truck that I figured everything was very fresh. It's much smaller inside than I thought. The selection of fish was also small, but they they did have a bit of all of the common items. It's possible that there was a lot more in the back that they didn't have in the case. I didn't ask. We only bought littlenecks. One thing I didn't like was that when I got home there were four littlenecks with broken shells that I had to discard. On the positive side, the service was great and they are open seven days a week, which isn't the norm with fish markets. I would go back. read more

Andrade's Catch has the best selection of shellfish you can find between PVD and Newport. Dave and his family offer every local clam, lobster, conch and other RI (and Maine) variety. I bought four 1.5 pound lobsters Sunday (ordered earlier in week) for dual birthdays; we steamed them for 15 minutes and everyone raved about their freshness!
