I came to RI just to try out Stuffies and RI clam chowder and a Google search led me to Diggers. When I got there Bill the owner greeted me and I told what I was there for and he helped me find what I was looking for. He suggested the snail salad, which at first I was hesitant because ive never tried that, but didnt want to pass the opportunity. Bill was so nice and heated my food for me. I sat down in the deli to enjoy what I came for and I tried the snail salad first. It was so delicious with a lot of flavor. Reminded me of my mom's cole slaw but with snails. Next I tried the clam chowder and that was the best ive ever had. It was so delicious and milky. Lastly I tried the stuffies and they had a really good taste that ive never had before. It reminded me of stuffed crabs a little but the clam flavor was distinct. Im glad I made the trip from Storrs, CT to experience these foods. read more

only been a few times as i stick close to home. i do however recommend them as each seafood/fish i purchased was fresh and tasty. pricing varies, of course, depending on time of year, availability but if you want fresh, reliable, safe go to diggers!! we are very strict with ourselves when it comes to shrimp. no purchases for questionable locations where slaves are used to clean, separate, etc. no location where waters are contaminated etc. i want my shrimp to taste delicious without preservatives, additives, etc. again, live here, go to diggers. :) read more

4/4/25. Called in an order for fried whole belly clams and clam cakes at around 5 pm. Told it would be 20 minutes. Drive over took 20 minutes and waited another 25 minutes, so 45 minutes all together. They only have one small fryolator and they get walk-in customers so.... if you don't mind waiting or getting a cocktail at Skeff's, go for it! Seafood is good quality and Staff is working hard, if not the most friendly. 50/50. Just a takeout shop so no ambiance really. Recommended with some reservations. read more

Started coming here on Fridays to support a local market during the Washington Bridge Fiasco. Had been a couple times earlier for their fresh fish to cook at home, and was never disappointed. On Fridays they do a simple menu of fried seafood for takeout. the benefit of a simple menu at a fish market is obvious: Fresh and Done Right! The owner and maybe 1-2 staff helpers are here and they are always friendly. Solid options (all fried): Fish and Chips, Clams, Scallops, Shrimp, and of course, Calamari. Can't go wrong. Good portions just don't expect anything fancy. They are not trying to be anything other than what they are. Fresh seafood, quick! read more

Love this place! If we could give more than 5 stars, we would. We r visitors from CA and we want to bring back some seafood to share with our families. Bill, the owner, went above and beyond helping us. Seafood is fresh at very good price. We wanted to buy 20 lbs lobster, 3 bags of little neck clams and 10 lbs of steamers back to Minneapolis the next morning. He sold us at wholesale price for all these and even gave his huge cooler for free to store all the goods. He even gave us his tape! His service deserves 10 stars! Also, if you want to have a seafood picnic, ask Bill to steam them for you. It is not a restaurant, but he will cook them and provide you lemons for free! I would highly recommend this place and will definitely come back here again for our fresh seafood next time we r in town! read more

My daughter and son in law were looking for fresh lobster meat for Mother's Day. A friend recommended Diggers so I called and was greeted by a women who was very helpful and got back to me with a very fair price and told me they would need a days notice to prepare the order. Picked up three pounds of wonderfully fresh lobster meat, some delicious stuffed quahogs, met Bill the owner, a real nice guy who treated me like an old friend, I enjoyed the whole experience. A pound of lobster meat makes enough salad for five generously packed buttered and toasted hot dog roll sandwiches. I will be using Diggers on a regular basis. Last year we got swordfish and scallops from here and they were old - swordfish had ammonia taste and we couldn't even stomach the taste of the scallops. Both were thrown out. On that day he was redoing the counter case - so we let it slide figuring since we never had a problem before, maybe it was an oversight -maybe it was older than he thought. Gave the benefit of the doubt. so I mean , as far as fish goes I don't want to waste my money and I certainly don't want to eat old fish and my husband and I have eaten it enough times to know on the first bite if it's fresh or not. So that experience made us wary of this place and we have not been back until the other day. Purchased Cod & scallops - scallops this time were ok, not great but ok- the Cod sadly was not. First there was a smell upon opening the bag, but it didn't seem to be from the fish itself so we continued with prep. Well it shrank to half the size in less than 10minutes and was not flaky after cooked ?it fell apart in little squares ? Large amount of liquid on the cookie sheet. These things are not normal - Maybe it had been prev frozen? Flavor was also not good - not fresh tasting - definitely was old fish. Not bad like the swordfish was, this was edible, but it was very bland. Could've been food poisoning. On Thursday, July 1, 2021 my friend and I tried Diggers for the first time. We both ordered the haddock fish sandwich that came with fries, Tatar sauce and cole-slaw. The food was placed in a container and tied in a bag. I believe this is why I didn't immediately identify its disgusting odor. When I got home I realized that the coleslaw was room temp and rancid. The fish was rotten and had a foul smell. My apartment reeked of the odor to the point I had to Febreeze the entire place. I reached out to the store and the store clerk/manager offered to remake the sandwich or provide a refund. I went the next day for a refund however the store clerk proceeded to tell me that refunds were impossible and got agitated. He said he was only able to remake the sandwich. Given my experience, I was not willing to run the risk of trying another fish sandwich. I once again asked for a refund. It was then I was confronted by another manager who aggressively offered a partial refund. Out of frustration and the need to be done with the whole situation, I took the partial refund and left. So heed my warning, proceed with caution. It could've ended with food poisoning. read more

Sadly something has changed. Bought the two steamed lobsters for $20, , horrible! Upon opening the intense smell of ammonia was horrid, then figured I would crack 'em anyway and the meat was all mush, really so nasty. Hugely disappointed. The workers here at diggers catch are amazing. I met this girl named Britney. I asked her to guide me through the process of getting the right sized little neck. And I ended up also buying the Hawaiian shrimp as she told me and showed me multiple shrimp sizes and where they were from. I 100% think everyone should come here. I came home cooked the shrimp and little necks and it tasted so fresh. Never will go anywhere else for seafood. The girls are very kind. I finally made it back here and it really deserves an update and an upgrade to five stars. The seafood really is some of the freshest I've seen. There is no fishy smell here, folks. Both times I've been lucky enough to have Steve assist me. He is one of the nicest guys you'll ever come across. What a great, small place! I am one who is always on the hunt for small, local places to purchase my seafood at. I am a regular out of town visitor, but make an effort be more like a local than anything else. I came across Diggers Catch through a google search. After reading all of the positive reviews, I decided to check out the place for myself. The Digger's Catch is a very small, but the quality of the fish is top notch in freshness. My boyfriend has been on an oyster kick the last few months, which mainly led us there. My boyfriend was blown away by the size, freshness, and the price of the local oysters. He couldn't get over the fact that we got a dozen for $10. We also purchased a little over a dozen shrimp, that were HUGE! I am thoroughly excited about this place because of what a great experience we had. I left my oyster knife at home in Connecticut and asked the gentleman who was working behind the counter if he had any for sale. After rummaging around for a minute or two he came out from behind the counter to give us a bottle open of sorts and taught us a trick on how to open an oyster with it. My boyfriend and I took notes and found that tip to be helpful. The gentleman that was helping us seemed to be the owner and operator of the business. The level of customer service that was offered was incredible, what a nice man. All total we paid $40 for 12 massive uncooked shrimp and a dozen oysters. The oysters were large and super fresh. The shrimp were just as good we would imagine they would be once cooked. There were a couple of varieties of fish, shelled lobster meat, scallops, shrimp, oysters and a few other offerings.
