Doctors here are amazing but communication from staff could be better. How are you going to text me at 4:03pm saying that my glasses are ready. I call and they said they were checked in earlier in the day. So I say I'm on my way and that my drive there is going to be an hour and a half. Instead of telling me not to waste my time and come the next day the individual on the phone tells me he'll put a note that I'm coming. He said we close at 5pm but google says 5:30pm. He said yeah 5pm for fittings and 5:30pm we won't be able to do fittings but you can still come pick up. Regardless I just drove an hour and half to a closed store. Hi, I'm a welder and metal worker(I live nearby) ... That being said I've gotten a few small metal parts in my eye on several occasions. I've visited both the old location and the new location for an emergency extraction. The Dr's there as soon as they know we have a problem w a potential metal in the eye - they see to it very fast and are EXTREMELY professional and knowledgeable with EYES - they've extracted fragments from my eyes unfortunately on more than a few occasions- and this last one I had a deep one that they removed the "rust ring" from - I was given a numbing agent for an extract and never felt a thing. The Doctors there really care about your eyes. The next day the Doctor called me to check on how I was doing personally. Great Doctors very very very experienced and knowledgeable class acts ... Thank you very much Doctors for looking after my eyes and being at an extremely reasonable price ESPECIALLY considering what I do for a living. I had a great experience with this shop. I had to wait a little for the lenses because they were, I guess, rare. (Trifocal with green color transition lenses.) But then, when they finally came, the staff told me that there was a scratch on one of the lenses, so they had to redo the lenses. Really? How big was the scratch? Maybe 1 cm. How did they find that? Don't know. But could they have easily given me the glasses without telling me, knowing that I wanted my glasses since they were late, and then claim that I had scratched the lenses, if I found that scratch? Yes. But they did the difficult thing, and I appreciate that. BTW, they have great styles to choose from. I know. I went to four other shops and found them wanting in imagination and style. Heard the Dr was nice so went as I was referred. but one of the guys at front desk was horrible service. Super rude. I had already called into mgr before going and my insurance was approved. I walked in and the guy at front desk lied and said they didn't take my insurance. He seemed very happy to loudly announce that he had "bad news" for me and we don't take my insurance. I didn't bother telling him that the manager already verified it for my appointment because I didn't want to be around that negative energy. OMG I have to do a new review because they moved to a new FABULOUS, space age office. They used to be on Melrose, which is getting sorta dangerous, and now they are a few blocks away on North Fairfax. Beautiful decor, spacious soothing rooms, not to mention the great staff, who are all so helpful and efficient. What can I say about Ryan Stybel? Dude, you rock. Cute, cute, cute, handsome enough to be a movie star, but down to earth, always smiling, and....... the best optometrist in L.A. A friend of mine used to work for an optometrist and she and I used to praise him to the skies. Ryan is better!!! The first time I got glasses here, I said to myself, "I have never seen this well in my life." He has an interesting, eclectic offering of glass frames, from the VERY pricey, down to Raybans. He also fits contact lenses. We all know that prices have gone up in recent years, and this place is no exception. So be prepared to pay top dollar. But also be prepared to get the best eye care you have ever had. If $$$ is an issue, call the office first and ask about their pricing. As near as I can tell, a pair of high end frames and lenses comes to somewhere around $1000. If you have insurance, they will probably pay most of it. Just remember, you get what you pay for. Updating to say that the office called and offered me a full refund, and they said they'd talk to staff and patients to make sure this doesn't happen again. I went here for a routine eye exam and was asked if I wanted to have my eyes dilated or pay $69 to get a full picture. Since I wasn't expecting the extra cost, I picked getting my eyes dilated. Then when the person led me back, they tried convincing me again to pick the $69 option, but he told me it was $49. I asked, it's $49? And they said yes, $49. I agreed to do that option. My appointment is fine; the doctor is nice. I go to check out, and I'm charged $69. It felt predatory at best, not to mention I know places that charge $35 for the same thing. I just left this store absolutely furious with the way they treat their customers. Angela, the store manager, was unbelievably nasty and confrontational. Instead of addressing the problem, she raised her voice, argued, and even mocked me, telling me to "stop playing lawyer" simply because I was pointing out undeniable facts she couldn't refute. We spent nearly $1000 on a pair of glasses that bend out of shape every couple of months and every time we've brought them in their only answer has been, "There's nothing we can do." Not once did they offer a replacement frame or any real solution. Compare that to Moscot, where we've also purchased several pairs of frames, the staff is professional, respectful and always accommodating. The difference is night and day. This store should be ashamed of how they conduct business. The quality of their product is abysmal and their treatment of paying customers is even worse. For what we paid these glasses are the worst frames we've ever made. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this place. They sell low quality eyewear, hide behind excuses and treat customers with complete disrespect. read more

HORRIFIED by the service here. Came to pick up my daughter's glasses today which were supposed to be pink. Immediately when they removed it from the box I was confused as they were dark purple and I had promised my daughter new glasses in her favorite color. They went to discuss the mistake privately for a while and came back and told me they were "willing" to switch them out for the correct frames. I had already taken the risk of cracking her lenses by swapping them into new frames and it is visible that the lenses took quite a bit of damage being swapped along with whatever previous damage they had. These lenses were $300. The frames were roughly $350. After further inspection I notice the brand new purple frames are damaged in several places. Both Angela and the doctor confirm the glasses are damaged. At this point I'm fairly upset as I don't want to have my daughter wait another week or two for a new pair, nor do I want to risk breaking her lenses in the process and having to wait another 2-4 weeks. I ask them to just give me the damaged incorrect frames and credit me the correct frames when and if my daughter will inevitably need new frames. They accuse me of wanting free frames.... Angela comes out to speak with me saying mistakes happen and it's the supplier's fault and they won't eat the cost and she is not willing to eat the cost for the damaged incorrect frames. I don't want to waste any more time so I said "That's fine I will exchange these back for the correct frames. However, if the lenses break during this exchange I want them replaced as this was not my mistake." She then accuses me of wanting free lenses... Why would I pay for new lenses if they are currently in tact and crack due to being re-swapped which was admittedly your mistake? She stands firm the lenses will not be replaced if they crack so either take the current incorrect frames as is or take the risk of my lenses breaking with the correct frames which I paid for. My husband then speaks with Angela asking why they were not taking accountability for the damaged frames. Angela again blames the supplier and then gets enraged takes my glasses and says she is going to pop out my daughter's lenses and give them back to me and refund me for the frames and storms off to do exactly that without my consent to the glasses that I PAID FOR. She comes out after another long wait and I ask her where my lenses are and she gives me some roundabout excuse knowing she has no right to do what she said she was going to do and tells me she no longer has the original frames the lenses came in when I first brought them in so I will need to take these glasses home in the meantime and when my old frames are sent back to her by the supplier she will pop out my daughters lenses and refund me. This is the most bizarre unprofessional experience I've ever had. What a complete waste of time due to complete incompetence and lack of accountability. Now I have to drive back at some point to have her pop out my daughter's lenses (at the risk of breaking them) and refund me??? read more

Thanks to Craig at Positive Eye Ons Optometry, my favorite cobalt blue Mr. Boho frames are back together again. I initially brought them to a local jeweler who made a half-hearted attempted at repairing them by some kind of messy glue and then played dumb when I brought them back and told me not only could they not repair them but had no recollection of what they'd done to the frame. Craig and his team patiently worked through the botched job and now they're good as new: he even found a replacement pair that he'll sell me at cost so I have a back-up. BRAVO! read more

The eye exam was great. I didn't get glasses there because their plastic frames were so overpriced that by the time I'd have gotten my lenses with everything, glasses WITH all my insurance discounts still would have cost me well over $375 for ONE PAIR. I can't do metal lenses due to allergies so that's not an option. But it's PLASTIC. We ALL know plastic is inexpensive! I asked for my prescription and they gave me the biggest attitude about it. Ummm it's my prescription that I'm legally allowed to have! When they gave it to me they purposely did not give me my PD measurements so that I couldn't get glasses anywhere else. I emailed back and forth to get it and then they insisted I needed to go back in to get measured for it, which they had already done initially when I was there, but couldn't make an appointment for me to go in because of the shut downs during COVID. Every week I called they didn't have availability. By this time, 6 months had passed and then 8 and then 9. I just gave up and waited until I was eligible for my eye exam again and went somewhere else and got my exam, designer brand plastic frames, progressive lenses, anti-glare coating, and blue light filtering for wayyyy less than this place. Moral of the story, shopping here only pays for their Melrose address and benefits you, the consumer, in no way shape or form. read more

This entire experience since I called the office and scheduled an appointment with Leah had been more than spectacular. The space is very rustic farmhouse - which makes you feel safe but modern? Not sure how to describe it, but the space was very clean. The people though...everyone in the office was all smiles even when working the day before the holiday weekend (July 4th)--it's incredible to see everyone smiling and being so patient. They also were funny and had nice style. I have had some of the most ~interesting ~ experiences with optometry offices after being diagnosed with Keratoconus - but Dr. Shore was extremely kind and knowledgeable in everything that he did. He made everything quick and easy and this has by far been one of the best experiences I've had in any office without making the whole thing detrimental for something I've been waiting and struggling with for a very long time. First time visitor, officially committing as a long term customer (as long as I'm an L.A. resident). I found this location via Yelp after checking out numerous offices in my area. This one happens to be less than 2 miles from where I live and happened to have appointment openings. I made an appt for a couple days out. Dr. Lakhani was great. She answered all of my silly questions- I tend to always have some. She recommended something to me for my light sensitive eyes that no other optometrist has ever recommended to me even. I've mentioned to all optometrist I've visited how sensitive to light my eyes are, but none of them have ever recommended pataday. My prescription had a slight update so I decided to get a pair of glasses. Angela was most helpful and very patient while I tried on several pairs. I settled on a pair of Tom Ford. Angela made sure it fit my face right. I was in and out in less than an hour and felt relieved. My glasses ended up being ready earlier than I was advised. I got seriously scammed here when it came to my yearly eye exam. New office for me. It got suggested by a friend who said the eye doctor was nice and cute lol. Well I got checked for my contacts and eye glasses. Never have I ever been charged for an additional fee for a contact lenses check. With all the eye doctors I've ever been to I only have a copay. Not here, client beware. If you wear contacts you will be charged for 2 separate eye exams. The 2 stars was for the friendly doctor. He was very nice. Such a shady way to do business. read more

I got a nasty case of keratitis from some contacts, went here when it was so bad I basically couldn't see, couldn't drive, it was bad. Dr Shore (not sure if that's how u spell it) took amazing care of me. I think I went in close to 10 times in a month, we tried several combos of eyedrop medications until he found the one that started showing improvement, finally a month later my eyeballs are fully functional again. The doc always saw me on time, short visits, plus the staff is very nice and they have a really nice selection of glasses too. Very lucky this just happened to be the random place I picked when I panic googled "ophthalmologist near me." Bonus the outside design is kinda funky and cool lol, very Melrose. Oh and there's metered parking in front and on the corner so I never had trouble finding a spot (and I was usually in and out in 15 mins). read more

He checks every part of your eyes and once done he breaks it down to you what he saw and he takes his time talking to you, no rush job. Eye exam. Great experience. Optometrist, Angela amazing experience. I cannot say enough about her. I'm on a fixed income and was working within a budget. If it was not for Angela this would not have happened. I would've been stuck with a pair of off-the-shelf readers or something like that. So why the one star you ask yourself. Because of a heavyset black man that works there that has the attitude from hell I'm a complete lack of understanding of what customer service means in this day and age. I paid over $700 for lenses only. I brought my own frames. And all I wanted this man to do was adjust them as to the way that they were fitted. Since they are progressives lenses they must sit at a certain place on my nose and away from my eyes. But this brother from another mother wasn't interested in how they were fitted he was only interested in how I "wanted to wear them." I've had glasses for 35 years and not one person has ever said to show them how I like to wear them. What a crock a poo. read more

I came in to see Dr. Shore to update my contact prescription for distance vision for driving (very standard) but I also mentioned my constant eye strain, dryness and redness from sitting at the computer (I'm an attorney so staring at the computer is the majority of my day). They looked into it and figured one of my eyes had good vision for seeing close and was over compensating for the other that had less than good vision. They prescribed me new glasses for my computer to correct that problem. It's been 1 month since I've had these glasses at work and man, have they been a game changer! I can see my screen clearly without eye strain and much less redness/dryness. I've been going to eye doctors with this issue for 13 years and no one has picked up on this until now. Kudos to these guys for figuring out and fixing the problem! Highly recommend this place for thorough eye care. I was fortunate enough to be recommended to this office many, MANY years ago and I cannot be more thankful. It doesn't matter where I live in LA, I will always come here to get my eyes checked. Every time I come in for a new checkup their office is always updated with the latest technology, and thankfully I've been able to utilize all of it, BUT if it's not necessary and costs extra outside of insurance, they understand, they're not going try to force anything on you that you don't need. I've never been one to choose frames in-store, I prefer to be a bargain shopper and get them online. You know what Dr. Stybel told me when I told him that? That there's a small chance the lenses could be distorted from being made cheaply, and if I were having issues with the lenses (I DIDN'T BUY FROM HIM) to bring them in and he would see what he could do for me. On my latest checkup with Dr. Stybel I had mentioned in passing that I was losing my eye insurance due to COVID19 and it could be awhile before I was able to come in again. The amazing staff made sure to process every single eye insurance benefit I would be eligible for by my end date. I now have 6+ months of contacts that I don't have to worry about affording just because the staff here took one tiny extra step that effected more than they could imagine! It also speaks volumes that the staff I saw here back when I first came ~6 years ago, are still the staff that helped me ~6 weeks ago. 11 out of 10, would recommend. read more
