Shaun had great customer service. This was my first set of designer (Cartier) frames and he was very informative on lense shape. Lense tint. Got a pair of prescription lenses made for some metal frames I brought in. The lenses were done correctly in a timely manner, and I got a phone call telling me they were ready for pickup so I got them this afternoon just in time for work today. They also gave me a case for the glasses, some cleaning fluid, and a couple of lens cloths. Cool. I still can't get used to the finger signature when paying with a credit card because it always looks like I signed it during an earthquake. read more

The best place to get glasses in LA! Getting new glasses can be a scary process. I've worn them since I was 3, and the right pair can make you feel amazing, the wrong pair and you want to run and hide. On top of that I need AR anti reflective coating and polycarbonate lenses so it can be painfully expensive too. Well it was before I found Fairfax Optical! It's a place to look forward to shopping for glasses. Massive selection of designer frames and incredible prices. Paulina was so nice, taking the time to find the perfect frames that fit my face and my style. If it exists they probably have it. Classic styles and latest trends, there was so many options to choose from. Normally I have to settle for one that is ok but not really what I want - I love what I found. Then it was preparing for how much the damage would be for a pair of nice Versace frames plus all the bells and whistles on the lenses. The price was great! The total price including lenses was $200 less than my old designer frames, and even less than I would pay for lenses alone at the crafters places. Shaun was so nice to work with, and I know I am getting high quality lenses and frames - I can't wait to pick up my new glasses and check out the sunglasses too!! read more

I've been going to LensCrafters for years and I never looked for another spot as I was always happy with the service. I had lunch with my friend at Jon and Vinnys and we decided to go for a walk after. I walked by this place and a pair of adorable balenciaga sunglasses caught my eye in the window. The sign looked old and in need of replacing. Not sure if it's on purpose but once you walk in, wow. The selection they had was probably the largest I've seen. Not only did they have everything LensCrafters had but they had more brands and half the store is as they say "deadstock vintage". I honestly was overwhelmed but I ended up picking up these cute pink cat-eye illesteva sunglasses this vintage fendi eyeglass. The young lady Pauline that helped me out was so nice and patient with me, I kind of felt bad. In the end they were able to put my prescription in both pairs within a few days and another guy, Shaun called me and was super helpful when I picked them up! I got 2 pairs with my prescription for what I was paying for 1 at LensCrafters. This is definitely my new favorite eyewear shop. I highly recommend just popping your head in to check it out next time you're in the area. Side note: parking is terrible so try the side streets or canters deli parking lot. Just make sure to get a pastry and validation on the way back to your car or you'll have to pay. read more

As one of LA's top vintage businesses I am always looking for an amazing deal on quality eye wear, and a place to replace lenses in our vintage sunglasses, so when a friend referred me to this shop I was so thrilled....I have been coming here for years now, and Gary never lets me down....mind you be prepared to wait, as there is always a line to get his personal attention....but, I suppose that is to be expected, for they are without question the best deal in town, for the very best service....and if they get to know you well you can simply do a drive by drop off like I do....they know what I like, and rarely ever need to ask me what I want when working on frames that are for me personally, and I am always thrilled with their price and the quality of their work. LOVE the area too, very colorful and fun to shop the other businesses while you wait. Don't expect a slick fancy place, the shop has an at-home feeling, and when it comes to your eyesight somehow that is a comfort....you just know you are getting personal service form someone who honestly cares about his customer. They also have a terrific selection of contemporary and vintage eye wear, so I have also found many fabulous frames for myself that were difficult to resit! I hadn't been to the store since the new owners took over, and I wondered if they would be just as good as the previous owner. They exceeded my expectations! I still have the Emilio Pucci sunglasses, and I wanted to change the prescription. They originally messed up the prescription (due to an employee who has since been fired) and they went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure I was happy with the new prescription. The prices are excellent. And -- as someone who compulsively buys vintage frames this is the most important thing -- custom carved prescription lenses will set you back a mere $35. And they are excellent quality lenses because I'll have you know I am not very gentle with my glasses and there is nary a scratch on my lenses. Gary is the absolute best! I live in New York and send all of my optical work to Fairfax Optical. His work is so much better than all of the other opticians that I have ever encountered...and that includes the super high-end optical stores. His prices are phenomenal too. One thing that you have to remember when calling. Fairfax Optical Lab is just that, an optical lab. Besides their storefront, they do optical work for many other opticians. So go to Gary and you cut out the incredibly expensive middle man. read more
