Bought a Fox 59 Be Our Guest Voucher so I decided to try this place out and it did not disappoint…read more I would classify it as a carry out restaurant. Although there are a couple of booths and some stools they are mostly used by people waiting on their order.I went on a Sunday when the deal is a meat and 2 sides for 15.99. Great price for the portions of food. I decided to try the catfish, perch, mashed potatoes, mac n cheese, green beans, and greens. All the food was seasoned well. My favorites were the perch, mashed potatoes, greens and cornbread. I was so eager to eat the food i didn't take a picture. I will take one next time as I will definitely be back for another visit. Note: only 1 voucher may be used per visit

This is a decent soul food spot in the vicinity of the Indiana State Fair. There is a small dining area with a few booths and a television to watch while you wait. You will find some chairs along the wall to sit while you wait for your to-go order. The floor is the restaurant could have benefitted from a good mopping. The restaurant in general looked a bit older and worn. The guy working the resturant during my visit was friendly enough, but my interaction with him was limited though. They recommend calling ahead before you come to place your order to save some time. The food is made fresh, so it takes a good 15 to 20 minutes to prepare. So, a call ahead would definitely save time. They have a daily with wings, fish, shrimp, burgers, po-boys and pork chops along with rotating daily specials that include salmon patties. You can choose from various sides inclduing rice, potatoes, cabbage, greens, green beans, mashed potatoes, and mac & cheese. There is also a nice Soulful Sunday menu that is worth checking out. I got the fried catfish platter with a side of potatoes and cabbage. It took about 15 minutes to be prepared. I got it to-go and took it home to eat. It was not the best soul food that I had, but it was good. It was a lot of food. I really liked the cabbage, and after I added some salt, the potatoes were pretty good. the catfish was decent but I felt was missing some seasoning. That is just my personal opinion though.

The fooooood?! My goodness. ‍ Kountry Kitchen did NOT disappoint!…read more-- First of all, come hungry because the portions are giving "we're going to make sure you're FED." And judging by how little we left on these plates...that mission was accomplished. -- I went with the combo meal with fried chicken wings AND fried catfish, with fried okra and cabbage on the side -- and whew! -- DELICIOUSSSSS. The chicken was crispy and seasoned, the catfish had that perfect golden coating, and the sides tasted like somebody in the kitchen actually cares about you. The okra especially? I could've easily ordered another serving. -- We also tried the oxtails, and one thing I'll mention: if you're used to Caribbean-style oxtails, these are definitely different. Don't go in expecting the same flavor profile. BUT they were still incredibly tender, moist, flavorful, and practically falling apart. Paired with the sides and that cornbread?! -- And the experience goes beyond the food! The building itself is SO cute, and I loved seeing the murals featuring famous people from the area and notable people who have visited. It gives the restaurant so much personality and makes it feel like you're stepping into a little piece of local history while getting a plate of good ol' comfort food. -- Final verdict: Come hungry. Wear something with a little stretch. And don't expect to leave much on the plate. -- Kountry Kitchen, you have a fan over here! 10/10 would absolutely run this meal back.

THAT CATFISH BABY! It was fried to absolute perfection. The crunch was absolutely perfect, the flavor was spot on, and the fish was so tender and perfectly cooked! The salad was stunning. The cukes had been sitting in the liquid for so long that they were translucent and it was incredible! I'm super picky about cornbread because it's usually so dry, but this was delicious! Could even get a bit of sweetness in there. Yum! When it comes to the sides: Mac and cheese was decent, not the greatest, not the worst, more middle of the road. Mashed potatoes were basic, dressing was ok but the texture did a number on me. Id get the mac and the potatoes again, but not the dressing. I don't usually like coleslaw, and this coleslaw wasn't bad! Overall, I'll be back!
