I was craving some fried perch and didn't know where to go, so I looked on yelp for fried perch, and this was one of the first places that popped up, probably due to my location, but I am so glad that I tried this because the food was delicious And the price was pretty comparable to other places. The owner was there so it was nice to be able to talk to him. He was very personable and helpful with any questions that we had. The only issue was finding the place. The GPS didn't seem to really understand where exactly the building was so we had to drive around a couple of times before finding it because the GPS took us in a completely different place. I'm not really sure how to feel, and not sure how to rate. I was very excited to try this black owned business and eager to try the peach cobbler that I had read so much about! There was an Uber eats deal for a free cobbler if you spent $25. So I ordered two large sides to make sure I spent $25 to get the cobbler. The order came without the cobbler which was really disappointing. Onto what I did receive. Catfish nugget meal with hush puppies: the nuggets were good, but they were not crispy, which again was disappointing. The hush puppies were absolutely not my cup of tea. They were sweet and did not have a good crunch. The fries were super soggy, which was a bummer. Mac and cheese: I'm a lover of most Mac and cheese and it's hard for me to find one I don't enjoy. This one was alright. Not bad, not great. Greens with turkey meat: all greens and bone. No meat. Coleslaw: absolutely atrocious. Don't order this!! Ultimately, I won't be ordering from here again. I feel like it absolutely wasn't worth what I paid for it. And feeling incredibly let down about not getting the one part of my order that I was really looking forward to. read more

We talked with other patrons about the neighborhood and took a trip down memory lane until our food was ready. THE FOOD: Fantastic! 4/5! Overall! I'm a tough grader!! Catfish Filets - 5/5!! Perfectly fried hard as requested! Crunchy and well seasoned! 4 Nice sized pieces! It was very good! Next time I will ask for mustard on the side. I prefer to dip my fish piece by piece!‍‍ French fries: 4/5 (there was a mixup, I ordered Mac n' cheese but they gave me fries. They did fix it and I did receive my Mac n cheese. Cole Slaw: 4.5/5 Vey food, not too sweet at all. A tad too much slaw dressing for my taste so that's why the 4.5. It was pretty good! Mac n' cheese: 4/5.... Honestly, it was better than expected and surprisingly good. Peach Cobbler: 4/5 - complimentary because of the slight mix up with the French fries It wasn't syrupy sweet and that was great for me! I ordered twice in one week it was so good. I like my fish fried hard and seasoned well. This here fish taste like it came out of my kitchen! The price point and portion size is fair. The neighborhood of the location is a little sketchy but totally worth the risk (just don't go alone at night or carry cpl ). They say the best food is in the hood and whoever they is, didn't lie!! I got the catfish dinner, and large spaghetti , because fish and spaghetti are a thing in my household. The portion size was enough to feed me and my honey. I also had a slice of strawberry and lemon cake. Both were moist, the icing to cake ratio was as on the money!! So glad I took a chance on ordering from this place. Collard greens oh my God well seasoned not over cooked. Coleslaw was ok 5 out of 10. Fries seasoned well 8,5 out of 10. To rate the cat fish and collard greens 9.5 out of 10. Desert 7.5 out of 10, that's just my own personal rating because I'm not a sweet eater. However my overall rating for this hidden gem is 9.0. I have no pics to show because of how good the food was. Best food I've had since moving here 6 years ago. Lastly, the owner greeted us as if we were family or close friends, the best customer experience you could ever ask for. It's been a long time since Indy has had a great local fish spot. I hope the community supports this spot because this is the best fish I've had in a while. I had the catfish fillet dinner with spaghetti, fries and cole slaw. The dinner came with about 6 pieces of fish. The wait time fir our food was about 15-20 minutes, but I didn't mind because I knew everything would be fresh. The fish was hot and crispy. Not over fried. The cole slaw was sweet and tangy. Make sure to get the Gip's sauce. I wish I lived back in Indy to come more. Will definitely come again when I'm back in town. read more

That's rare at most fish spots. It's on a lot of their menus, but it doesn't deliver. At Taste This Fish, it delivers! Lot of times when I order from different spots, my condiments are usually forgotten. Small thing, but I want my condiments. Catsup, mustard, hot sauce and honey mustard. My condiments were with my order lol! I saw from previous patrons that they have great desert too. Strawberry cake, peach cobbler, etc. I didn't get any today. I ordered a Perch dinner. It was delicious. The service was excellent. They served me with a smile. They made sure my order was correct. They also included condiments. I plan to go back soon. It is a little hard to find but use your GPS and park in the back and walk around the side to the front. It will be worth it. I wish the peach cobbler was served hot and fresh out of the pan.
