Next on the birthday tour, we were hungry and since we were in the area of The Garage food hall, we had to stop in and grab a bite to eat. Food halls are the best when you have several people with different taste with you. Funny enough we collectively decided on The Harbour fish and chips. I ordered the cod and chips, mozzarella sticks for my son and when I say the fish was fried to perfection, it was. It was hot and fresh. I was really surprised at the portion size. It was alot of food. So when I left I had a decent amount of left overs for the next day sometime. The customer service was top notch as well. The cashier answered all of our questions. Even brought my food to the table. We were able to get seating out of the way and towards the windows and with it being an open seating concept, that was really important. Its a nice atmosphere with all the hustle and bustle of the other eateries going on. After eating we stopped in a few shops before departing. I will for sure make my way back!!! read more

So many options! We landed on The Harbour for fish and chips. Regarding ambiance, there just isn't much. Not just at The Harbour, but at any of the establishments. I suppose it had a nautical theme, but nothing special. It's essentially a store front. Folks were attentive and seemed glad we were there. We both got the fish and chips and well, they were absolutely okay! We were hungry, and the food fit the bill. Again... so many options. We may never be back in Indianapolis staying at Bottleworks with easy access, but if the stars align and we find ourselves back we will try different food options. Not because the food was bad, it wasn't. It was absolutely okay! But if we find ourselves there again, we'll see what else strikes our fancy. read more

I will say that I was fairly surprised by this spot! We stopped by the garage for dinner after work & landed at Harbour. I ordered the fish and chips; the portions were so much larger than expected!! It was a large filet, instead of broken into several pieces, so definitely worth it for the price. It was also sitting on a bed of steak fries, which were also more than expected. I will say I wasn't too crazy about their tartar sauce, since it leaned on the sweeter side than what I'm used to. We also got the large 2pc onion rings. I loved the crispy texture, which left the inside crisp and not soggy, should have opted for the 4 pack! The service was great, she was super helpful in her recommendations, so if youre at Garage & looking for a spot this should be added to the list. read more

Stopped by for a light lunch while walking around the Bottleworks district and appreciated that The Harbour had vegetarian/pescatarian options for a decent price. I ordered a bowl of their vegetarian bean chili. My order was ready in about 3 minutes! The chili has a bit of mild spice, which I appreciated since a lot of vegetarian chilis tend to be bland. I do wish the chili came with more additions (a wild rice or bell pepper would be so good in this chili!), since all I could visibly see was corn and different kinds of beans. It was a decent portion of chili (I'd say 2 people could split a bowl) with slices of baguette and butter on the side. It was a comforting meal that complemented the rainy weather! I would love to try their crab cakes next time. read more

Great place for beer. Great fries. Haggis was not worth the price. I tried this place in the Garage and got the Haggis and chips with a beer. They have a great selection of local beers on tap --very local nearly all of them are from Indy breweries. Most less than 5 miles away. I'm glad for that! They also have an expansive menu. There were so many options. I've never had haggis before, so I ordered that with fries. The haggis was good, but it was VERY small. It's about the size of a small corn dog. The fries were great. Everything was good, it just wasn't really worth $23 in my opinion. The haggis is so small. You can get more for that price at the Garage. The service was really good. The cashier was very friendly and they got my order made quick. The atmosphere in the garage is always great. It's like any food hall. Overall good beer, expansive menu, and great fries, but it just was not enough food for the price. Maybe I'll update my rating if I try it again and other menu options have more or cost less. read more

The food was amazing! We got fried mushrooms, onion rings and shrimp for appetizers and each got the cod fish n chips. Everything was so fresh and hot! Best fish n chips I've ever had, hands down! My co-diners thanked me for picking The Harbour!!! The Garage is a very interesting space. Love it! Unfortunately I forgot my phone so no pics but I'll some soon! read more

This will be my go to place for Scottish fish and chips. I loved the crispness and how light the fish was. The tartar sauce with the little lemon wedge and malt was so good together! They had a $5 special for Savor last week and I'm so glad I was able to try them. The service was nice and they have lots to offer. I can't wait to try the crab cakes and the Scotch eggs next!! I will definitely be ordering fish and chips from them again! read more

If there was ever any doubt that the Yelp e-mails have an influence, let me serve as an example that they sure do inspire action. I'd been craving fish & chips anyway, but when the most recent Yelp e-mail newsletter came out offering up a collection of local restaurants offering fish & chips I decided that was my sign to finally act on the craving after work today. After browsing the collection and realizing I'd already tried most of the places, I opted to finally head over to The Garage Food Hall and check out The Harbour. An offshoot of MacNiven's, The Harbour is owned by Scotsman Stuart MacNiven Robertson. While MacNiven's closed its doors, it gave way to this spot specializing in various entrees and several varieties of dishes including "& chips" including multiple fish options, haggis, sausage, and a few others. I was intrigued by the catfish option, I am from Indiana after all, but opted to play it more traditional and stick with Atlantic Cod. I also ordered my usual iced tea. For those not in the know, The Garage Food Hall is part of a massive renovation of the historic Coca-Cola Bottling Plant in downtown Indy. The folks behind it have done quite a bit in terms of accessibility - it's not perfect, but it's much better than you would expect from a historic building. Parking is fairly abundant including accessible spots, though nearly all of it around the area is paid parking either in lots or at meters. The doors are two-sided glass doors, not automatic and actually a bit heavy, but I'm able to make them work. You go up to the counter and place your order. They take a name and your phone number and text when it's ready. They cook it fresh and it typically takes around 7-8 minutes. I liked the container they put the food in. It made it a bit easier to carry. The drink cups are rather handy, though a bit on the small side. I read in a review here that they offer refills - I wish I'd realized that as it certainly would have been nice. The food? I'm not an expert on fish & chips, but this struck me as very Americanized. The fish came as two fish filets, though I was a bit disappointed that they were actually stuck together. That kind of takes away from the concept of freshness a bit. That said, it was still good and actually did taste fresh. I enjoyed it and would likely order it again, though I'm not sure I'd consider it a destination meal. The chips? I actually do like steak fries - that's essentially what these were. I thought the order was a tad small given the price point, but overall I enjoyed it. The Hall was a bit chilly this evening (even the employees were saying so), but it was tolerable. Business was steady but not overwhelming. Since I actually do have to rate this, I'm going with a 4/5. It's good but not great. The employees were friendly and I enjoyed the meal, though the price point seemed just a tad steep for two filets stuck together and a "few chips." That said, there wasn't anything particularly wrong here...it just didn't quite dazzle as much as I'd hoped. I don't get to The Garage that often despite actually working downtown, but I did see some newer options I'm anxious to try and will definitely return. Will I eat here again? Yep, definitely. Would I drive from my Lawrence home to do so? Probably not. However, with a few other fish & chip-style meals to try this is definitely a place I look forward to returning to in the near future. read more

I had the cod fish and chips at Harbor --crispy, fresh, and not overly fishy. The fries were hot and golden, and the portion generous. My friend had the mushrooms and catfish and was just as satisfied. Our server was kind and attentive, even bringing something she'd forgotten without being asked. A great find tucked inside the Garage. read more

We went the The Harboir at the Garage food hall tonight and it was delicious! I don't eat a lot of seafood, but the fish and chips were breaded well, had lots of seasoning, and the fish was flaky delicious. I wanted more when I was done! We also go the mozzarella sticks. They didn't have great pull, however the flavor was great. The Parmesan on top was exactly what they needed with the marinara they serve! read more

Crab cakes were so so and they served us the wrong food but the worst part was they refused to give me a plastic fork (my daughter and I were sharing a meal because we wanted to try several different restaurants.). I had to go to the taco restaurant next door to get a fork. Weird and very rude. read more

UPDATE: After reading my earlier review, I was contacted by staff with an explanation of our experience which shows an admirable commitment to service and consideration for their patrons. Taking those extra steps is meaningful in the service industry, and I'm compelled to commend them for that. I've amended my review and will definitely give them another try as I do have an affinity for this type of cuisine. Stopped into this place during my first tour of the Garage at the bottle works near my neighborhood. I'm partial to traditional Irish/Scottish/english fair, so I tried their haggis and subbed a chili for the chips. With the total being over 16$ for that part of the order alone, I had expected at least a decent portion. Imagine my disappointment when the haggis served was in a deep fried sausage like form about the size of a small hotdog. The haggis itself was less flavorful than the breading it was incased in. I would count the option to have a beer as a plus, but it's hard to justify at 8$ for an almost pint. All in all, mediocre food, small portions, high prices. It's a two star for me, until I try something there that changes my mind. read more

We got the kids a fish and chips meal which also comes with a soft drink for $7.95. The fish was over fried and was just hard batter all around the edges. The piece of fish was also more circular rather than long. The fries are thick crinkle cut and were not bad. Located in a stall at the Garage Food Hall. Probably not my first choice for places in the Garage but it's a decent option. read more

The Harbour has one of the larger food menus at the Garage Foodhall, and sells beer and other beverages. I was looking for a fish sandwich, and oddly the place adjacent did not have one on the menu... so fish and chips was my next best option and this was on the Harbour menu. The Fish and Chips were decent. I wouldn't run back here to get it, but there wasn't anything wrong with it either. The steak fries or chips were very mediocre. If you're looking for some fried food/seafood, I think this is your spot! The soda is free refills as well. read more

My husband is British so we were PUMPED about a British chippie being in The Garage Food Hall. This spot is run by a Scottish man, aka someone who's grown up having good chippies all around him. I ordered the fish and chips and my husband got the fried sausage and chips. The fish and sausage by themselves were good, but the chips were average. They should definitely make them in house if they don't already. Enjoy! read more

Seeing this shop pop up made me think of my days in London, bopping around to random pubs and snacking on chips throughout the afternoon. Naturally I was excited to grab a pint and indulge in some fried food on my first go-around of this joint. In case you were not aware, this is from the same owner as Macniven's that was previously on Mass Ave. I prefer to go eclectic when I dine out, so haggis was going to be my choice for the afternoon. As cool as it seemed, it was more ho hum than anything. It had an excellent fry and texture, but the inside lacked any flavor. Perhaps it was an attempt to not make it too game-y with the liver and heart, but it really just tasted like mildly savory oats that were fried in casing. The chips were pretty average as well, especially for a place that has to compete with fries from other locations easily accessed within the complex. For $15 for a handful of fries and a piece of haggis that was the size and shape of a medium-sized corn dog, I was pretty disappointed overall. It likely should be 2 stars on this experience alone, but I'll give it the benefit of a doubt for now and try the fried fish or sausage next time. read more

The cod had a very thick batter coating which allowed for the fish to hold together really nice! They also provided a generous portion of tartar sauce. Although I've had better chips, they were good enough. A warm crunchy outside with a nice soft mealy inside. I would eat here again when stopping by the Garage. read more

Just grabbed a drink here while at the garage food hall. Discovered west fork's canned bourbon cocktail-- Highball. It was so weird to have a canned cocktail but nice to have that option. Only 7% alcohol content. Can be compared to the likes of white claw. Great customer service. She was very patient as we were deciding what to order. read more

The Harbour is my favorite food vendor in the garage and definitely my favorite place for fish and chips in Indy. I always get the Atlantic Cod & chips (If you read my reviews you know it's hard for me to try something new once I get hooked on something) and it's always fried to a perfect crisp (who wasn't soggy fish, yuck) and with the tartare sauce, mwah *chef kiss*. Things my eyes are telling me to try at my next visit: Lump Crab Cakes and Haggis Hush Puppies. I'm nervous about the latter, but I'm willing to try it...if I can get over the fish & chips that is. read more

This is my 2nd visit here and they are officially amazing. My family and I visit The garage frequently and we absolutely love it. However most of the food is specialized so it was nice to find a place with wings and mozzarella sticks The first time I went was just for mozzarella Sticks, they were great. Next time I went was for wings fried hard and mozzarella sticks and they nailed it. I love this place because I love "regular food" in the ambiance is the garage door 10/10!!! read more

I had the fish and chips. The Atlantic cod was very good and the breading had good flavor. I wasn't a huge fan of the steak fries. They could've used more salt or seasoning. I appreciate that you get free refills on fountain drinks. The woman who took my order was very friendly. There are a couple other things on the menu that I'd like to check out. I think they just opened and I'm very happy! The Fried Cod and Chips are authentic. Served two huge, thick pieces of Cod. The crust was crunchy and not overly thick; inside the fish meat was steaming and flaky. Cooked perfectly. Nice helping of chips. The tartar sauce was thick and rich. I tried it by dipping the chips into it. Vinegar only on the fish, by my choice, anything else is a culinary crime!. read more

Ate so fast I forgot to take a picture! We got the crab cakes and they were a great size, made fresh and tasted great! It is hard to find good crab cakes in Indy but the Harbour definitely delivers good flavors. Don't forget to grab some malt vinegar packets for your fries. Ordering is easy. They text you when your food is ready so you have time to go secure a table! read more

Scotch eggs! That's all I need to say. It's a hard food to find on any menu and done well. If they ever have an option to serve them with soft boiled instead of hard, it would add to the flavor and enjoyment for me but I know that is a slightly more difficult and longer process if done to order. Overall, they still tasted excellent and I would come here again. The food court itself is a neat newer location with lots of seating and a chill atmosphere. read more

We only tried appetizers, but we were thoroughly impressed. First time trying a Scotch Egg. I'm not sure what to think, but it was unique (and tasty in its own special way). Before this place opened it was advised as having authentic British fish and chips. As a British guy I was very excited for this place open. However I was very disappointed with the food. I've had better potions and just as good quality at Culver's Very pricey, and I was served 2 incredibly small pieces of fish. Basically $23 for a large box of fries. Not sure if I'd go back there. The 3 stars is for the wonderful customer service from the lady at the counter. Very friendly and helpful. read more

We have had the short rib multiple times in the past- and normally it is a hunk of meat, similar to a roast. Now, it is strips of tiny pieces of meat with a bone attached to it. If the owner/general manager is reading this- GO BACK TO THE ROAST STYLE- the strips of meat was too much work to eat. Still packed full of great flavor though. I had the bridge to Anshun for my drink. I had never had Baiju before, but glad I tried it. It was a tangy drink that was also sweet- would say it's a must try. It had been before the pandemic since my last time in Indianapolis and much has changed on the city's dining and drinking landscape. Following a recommendation from a bartender at Sundry & Vice, I made my way to BODHI. I didn't have reservations, which I'd strongly recommend, since the place was packed on Wednesday night before 6PM. Fortunately, I was able to snag a seat at the bar, which was ideal since I was dining solo. Upon scanning the hip, high-energy, yet petite dining room, I had a sense of deja vu about it before realizing that I had been in this space before back when it was Black Market. I started off with a cocktail from Bodhi's intriguing and expansive drink list, a 7 Realms of Happiness, made with Old Hamer Bourbon, Faccia Brutto Centerbe, Cappelletti amaro, saffron honey, and lemon. My thought was that it's their twist on a classic Whiskey Smash. It was bittersweet, yet balanced, and simply a delight. As for the food, BODHI's menu is concise hitting the most of the Thai food usual suspects. I had the Papaya Salad and the Shrimp Green Curry. The papaya salad came out first. I was pleasantly surprised by its plating, looking much more like an elaborate entree with its cashews, watermelon radish, and chicharrones than the humble side salad atop a leaf of lettuce or cabbage that I've usually received at virtually every Thai restaurant I've ever been. It was just a pretty plate as it tasted even better than it looked. It was fresh and flavorful as those flavors popped from the perfect balance of salty, sweet, sour, spicy, and funky. It was the best rendition of a papaya salad that I've tasted. My bowl of curry was no less successful in balancing those diverse Thai flavor profiles. Unlike some/many other curries I've had where it seems like a bowl full of sauce with bits and pieces of protein or vegetables, Bodhi's rendition achieved the perfect "solids to sauce" ratio. The shrimp were cooked to perfection and the curry itself was bold and bright on my tongue. It was a delicious spoonful. I loved it! For "dessert", I had a second cocktail, the Garnet, a booze-forward whisky drink made with Mars Iwai Tradition, Pinhook Rye, Akashi Ume Plum whisky, Veda Mushroom Liqueur, Balsamic Vermouth, celery & orange bitters, and topped with a Moon Smoke Bubble. It was very unique, tasty and satisfying, if not a bit difficult to describe. I would maybe compare it to an Asian-influenced Vieux Carre and I thought it was excellent. Service from Carli, the bartender, was stellar throughout my night as she was friendly, helpful and exceedingly outstanding in making my drinks. A definite rock star! BODHI was outstanding. I'm not sure how to best describe the place. Was it as an amazing Thai restaurant that also does incredible cocktails or an amazing cocktail bar that also does killer Thai food?
