This is a very casual place on the UT campus. Order at the counter and they call your name when your food is ready. While we waited I perused the large selection of books and games on one wall. Food was good and husband really liked the thick onion rings. Decent selection of beer on tap.

Posse East has been in Austin for over 51 years and their burgers are classic. I got the cheeseburger and the patties looked hand shaped. The meat had a good mix so once cooked it was moist and beefy. I also liked how it was salted just right. There are too many places that just over salt their burgers or under salt them and over salting to me is worst. They also managed to balance the richness of the beef and fats so you didn't feel full at first bite but satisfied after finishing the burger. Just the right mix of Mayo and mustard. There is no need for ketchup on these burgers! The greens and the onions gave it a good texture. Wash it down with a beer and everything is all right.

I'm a vegetarian, and can find lots to eat there - they have a good vegan hot dog as well as bean and cheese nachos, and I think a veggie burger as well (but I usually get the hot dog with fries if I'm hungry, and the nachos if I just want to snack). Their fries are addictive - I'm in love with them, and will happily steal others' when they're not looking! Kitchen open until midnight and doors open until 2 am - we go here after Moody Center concerts a lot. Bartenders are always friendly. Food is always hot. Not sure what some of the other reviewers ran into, but if it was sub-par, that's NOT the standard. We're here 1-2x/week (we work at Moody and come here afterwards to unwind). If you're looking for a dive bar that's friendly, has cold beer and A/C, and want to watch a game on one of the many TVs, play some darts, or just hang with your friends, go to C&A!

Plain old bar. No reason not to go there. But no reason to go there either. Perfectly adequate for what it is offering. If it was nearby, why not? * * * Minor notes. a) Even though this place is right on top of campus, I noticed almost no undergraduates the Friday night I was there. There were a bunch of elderly and middle-aged Longhorn golf club types and a handful of Cherry Creek Coffeehouse style graduate students either out on dates or working on some project. Maybe the undergrads were in their dorms or sororities doing the pre-parties for the eventual march on Sixth Street. The Crown and Anchor is not the place you would want to wear your slinky black cocktail dress. So if a black cocktail dress is in your plan, you would rose-all-the-way with your friends in your room, then change over and head downtown. b) The Crown and Anchor is across the street from a beautiful lush strand of trees north of campus. The church tower from the Seminary can be seen in the middle distance. This ought to be one of the best views in Austin. Except that UT has plunked a maintenance shed in front of all this. So you spend your time looking at a grungy trailer-like thing where they give maintenance guys their schedules and keep stashes of outdoor equipment and repair supplies. This is not where you want to go to look at the sunset. Turn your back to all that and watch the game.

It was served in a flaming skull, garnished with beautiful flowers and fresh fruit, and filled to the brim with God knows how much alcohol and juice, but it was a time! To heighten the experience, he sprinkled something in a shaker and the flames just erupted! The whole restaurant stopped and I cackled! To put out the flame, Noah gave one dramatic clap, and the flame disappear disappeared! After reading through all the reviews, I noticed there were hardly any photos so I added 10. Parking can be an issue and you need to be careful because you could get towed or booted in this neck of the woods. They do have about a dozen or so spots behind the bar. The interior reminds me of a burned out home with a dirty concrete floor below and scorched, black exposed rafters above. Plenty of old car license plates on the wall and a jukebox off to the side. Bring a picture of your dog, because they have a large corkboard for customers and their pooches. They have plenty of good craft beers on tap and a decent full bar. This is a great place to bring your own darts or pool cue and since there are two dartboards and a pool table here. There's plenty of four top tables, seating at the bar or five booths to sit at. There's also an outdoor seating area that allows smoking. If you are hungry, they do have a food truck out back that serves up tacos, ramen, nachos, etc. On our visit, the truck was not open after 4:30pm. As a result, we just had one beer and left. It's your overall decent local neighborhood dive that has its regulars, but not worth driving across town for.

It seems like it might be a relatively new place cause I wasn't able to find reviews online for it, but the descriptions on the menu sounded pretty good! First of all, the bar itself is quaint but there are lots of little coffee tables with chairs, and a couple larger sized tables (like to seat 4 people), as well as a couple individual chairs with spaces good for working or just sitting and reading etc. The hotel that it is inside of is very cute as well, and has an old Austin feel to it. Something that I wasn't aware before I came was the happy hour menu is actually shorter and the regular menu. There are only three cocktails listed on the happy hour menu actually, at a lovely price of seven dollars each from 3-6pm. The regular menu does have other drinks as well. The drink I tried was the gimlet on the happy hr menu which was very strong, and refreshing with a lot of lime taste to it. There is a complimentary valet for up to two hours if you're coming to the bar, in fact you aren't allowed to self park (it's valet only). The staff at the bar, valet, and at the front when I came in were all very welcoming. :) All this said, I only took off a star since i think the happy hour menu is a bit limited. Otherwise the staff, vibes inside, and the drink I had were all lovely as was the hotel itself!

Either your oil needed to be changed 2 days ago, or your timer stopped working. Both came out brown and tasted of bitter overused oil. Now to the burger. I do appreciate the amount of pickle slices on this burger, but this heavy hand was also responsible for the mustard levels! I think i'll be tasting mustard for a couple days.
