    Orchiette (very good)

Good food, some more standout than others. Vibe: Small and intimate, the setting makes it feel like hanging out in someone's house. Service: Mostly quick although food took a little while to come out. Food: Complimentary bread was really good quality bread, the butter sadly was unsalted. We got the orchiette small plate as an appetizer which was very tasty. My partner got the chicken main which was delicious, perfectly cooked and juicy, the accompanying lentils were very good. I got the swordfish which was perfectly cooked, the accompanying squash was very sweet which was a little off putting for me, the greens were very tasty but seemed underdone as the stem was very tough. Value: All together with one $10 beer this came out to about $100 for two, I feel that pricing was about on point for portions and quality. Overall it wasn't anything too special but it was a solid meal.

A visit to 80 Thoreau is always a treat, but even more so when they have a special menu. Their tomato and corn tasting wraps up today and it was fantastic. They are located on the top floor of the Concord Depot, the former train station. The space is charming both in the bar area and the dining room. I've been going there long enough to see dozens of servers come and go, but they are always knowledgeable and attentive. My only disappointment is that the bar burger is no longer available. It was one of my favorites.

This restaurant has been in this location for more than a decade, so it is clearly giving the audience what it wants. I used to give it five stars, but it just isn't as good as it used to be. Of course, the ambiance remains great and feels trendy. The service is high, although I find their policy of having the waiters not give their names puzzling. Our waiter said it is because they work as a team and you don't need to ask for any one person. I frankly like the connection The food, unfortunately, seems ordinary. For example, the striped bass I ordered was perfectly cooked, but bland. I was hoping for some herbs, or a sauce with flavor. Sadly the gazpacho sauce was like a bland watered down tomato soup. For nearly $40 for the main course, I expect much more. The appetizers were good. The zucchini and eggplant was nicely done. A friend who was with us said the duck stroganoff was tasty. But nobody raved about the main course. And at these prices, we should.

80 Thoreau is an interesting restaurant with food like you might see on a TV cooking competition but in the comfort and accessibility of a quaint Boston suburb. Unfortunately when it comes to steak; they miss the mark on the cook and served me raw steak, the odd thing is that they cut it in half for me and could definitely see it was raw but served it anyways. That's not sauce in the photo it's the dark red/blue of a beef that might've been previously frozen and then seared at high heat. It looked like, felt like, Ahi Tuna steak! Outside was grey and tough, inside raw and chewy. I asked for medium rare. I actually doubted myself a bit and cut into it and tried it because how could it be the chef cut it in half and saw it and served it anyways? They took it back and cooked it longer without much fuss so that was good. Rest of the food was alright. It's great they rotate their menu often. Right now the chicken ballotine is really nice to try. I would skip the chawanmushi. They seem to handle mushrooms really well so give anything with mushrooms a try even if you don't like them that much. Morels were great! For dessert they have a chocolate cake that is quite good. Very dense and moist probably flourless to some degree. The staff here is super nice and really attentive. That was the highlight for me. I read in some reviews that the place is hard to find. I thought it was easy to find. Parked in their parking lot, counted from 84, 82, 80 on the door signs. If you're coming from the other direction just look at the building number and maybe it's 76, 78, 80? It's not that hard? Lol Worth trying!

The interior is still very similar as far as the layout, but obviously a whole new coat of paint and decor instead. It almost reminds me a bit of a seafaring restaurant, but still not that different from how the 99 was with the size, walls, booths, hallways, etc. But there are other 99s and this new restaurant is pretty great overall, especially for a wonderfully flavorful, hearty burger and fries. I also had some of a companion's order, this interesting sesame chicken dish with seaweed salad and a half avocado filled with sauce, which was different and I'm not really sure why it was there, much as I like avocado. The chicken tasted great and was the highlight of that dish. The menu is nice and varied, so I'd be curious to try some of their other dishes, like the pizza. The service is great even when it's busy, and it's a pretty comfortable atmosphere.

It's quintessencial central Mass. bistro dining, where the waitress is the bartender, the maitre d' is the owner, the empire and mid century china is mismatched but matches the food that is presented on the dishes, and where that food is delicious. Many, but not all, items on the menu are gf, several are vegetarian, and one main and one dessert are vegan. We tried the well-balanced "Red Skies at Night" cocktail and would have it again. We also tried some of the new dishes that are rotating through the menu. The gf seasonal watermelon and feta salad is a particularly savory example of this summer favorite. Crab salad with avocado, hard-boiled egg, and real remoulade sauce, was a nice interpretation (served on a period luncheon plate). The main course artichoke spinach cheesecake was outstanding. Among the desserts, the gf chocolate mousse, which was served in an old-fashioned metal sundae dish and garnished with a fresh violet and real whipped cream, was rich and delicious. We will be back.

We expressed disappointment, but they then checked with the Kitchen staff and said sure if you order right away we would be happy to serve you. We were thrilled! We ordered drinks and had food, and it was all wonderful. We loved the speakeasy, vibe, the custom cocktails, and the impressive and carefully curated alcohol options at the bar. The service was wonderful and friendly. We thought, oh great, this is going to be our go to place in town, we'll be here frequently! Our next visit was completely different. I called ahead of time to check on availability, mention that we prefer to sit at the bar, and confirm that they do not take reservations at the bar, but that there were tables available. So we had it in. When we arrived, we clearly saw at least four open seats at the bar. But we were informed that those seats were reserved. I mentioned that I had just called to confirm that there were seats available and confirmed that bar seats could not be reserved. Well, that was perplexing. And there was no genuine apology, no mention that they might be sorry about the confusion, let us see what we can do... Ultimately, the hostess, did checked with some folks and found that there was a table that we could have. So we sat down for our meal. The service this night was decidedly different, and we couldn't help feeling like we'd forced our way into a private club that we really weren't welcomed at. That was a few months ago, and we haven't been back since.

We took our two younger ones there for a quiet Easter Sunday dinner together. So many interesting things on the menu, we way over ordered. But everything was delicious. We had the pork belly confit, the cheese bread, the octopus, and the parm wings to start. They were all polished off quickly. Our pork belly did seem to have missed a sauce, but we just dipped them with the cheesy bread sauce and was very happy. My son ordered a few different skews and thoroughly enjoyed his Picanha, sausage and cheese and chicken heart. My youngest said the chicken hearts were the best she had ever tried. High praise from a kid loving chicken heart since just a tiny tod. My wife and I both ordered the ribeye over mushroom risotto. We order medium rare and both of ours came perfectly done. Both our kids thoroughly enjoyed trying our steak and risotto. My daughter and I both enjoyed mixing my son's Yucca mash with the risotto. She practically scrapped my plate clean. We all had our eyes on the pineapple, but all agreed we were overstuffed and will defer to next time. We even had leftovers to bring home to one happy Puppy. Will definitely return!
