POST HTX is a really cool complex consisting of a music venue (713 Music Hall), a food hall (POST Market), and an awesome rooftop area (Skylawn). This former site of the Barbara Jordan Post Office has really been transformed into a modern space. You can easily spend an entire day at POST. They have community events like flea markets, salsa dancing lessons, yoga on the Skylawn, live music on the roof (as well as the music venue), etc. During my most recent visit, they had a NASA exhibit next to the flea market. The architecture is cool. The different staircases are definitely photo worthy. The spiral staircase in the middle of the food hall is an attention grabber! There are also cool staircases in the X Atrium and Z Atrium. On my most recent visit, there were multiple groups doing photo shoots on the staircases (no idea if you need a photography permit). There's old signage from the post office days scattered throughout the building. You may be able to spot some signs on the walls in the food market. They have a few out on the loading dock near Andes Café too. Parking rates vary depending on the day. The first hour is free on weekdays and the first 20 minutes is free on weekends. It's $5/hour after that. If there's a show at 713 MH, then you will have to pay a fee to park (you can pay with a card). There's also street parking. You can book street parking ahead of time on Parkwhiz. Another option is the parking garage at Lyric Market. It is across the street and is a short 5 minute walk. If parking on site, you can pay with your phone before you leave online or by scanning one of the QR codes in the parking lot. The entry/exit gate scans your plate so it will know when you pay. If you're looking for something to do or have out of town visitors, take them to POST. It's such a cool place and is a great representation of the diversity and culture of Houston! read more

This is a great multi-purpose venue with a lot to offer in the old post office. I, like most older native Houstonians, remember coming here as a kid since my sister collected stamps...and the downtown post office had an awesome selection of whole sheets, back in the day. I bet they didn't have any trouble coming up with a name on this one. It has a large food hall, office space on the 1st and 2nd levels so far, the 713 music hall on the east side of the building and the Sky lawn(park) upstairs. There is also outdoor event space/concert stage on the eastern side of the sky lawn. Most of the old post office has been gutted, floors removed and polished, walls removed and replaced with updated accent features and new lighting throughout; however, they have retained the main concrete structure, the 2 money/stamp vaults behind the former post office lobby, one of which is open and you can enter for viewing. They also retained an old directory along the west side of the lobby showing the former departments within the building. Today's layout includes a new wooden zig zag staircase on the east side of the food hall (in the area currently known as the Z Atrium) This is the first atrium you arrive at, nearest to 713 music hall. If you continue up the staircase, it dead ends on the 3rd floor. A concrete x- shaped staircase on the west side of the food hall (known as the X Atrium) takes you to the rooftop. The center spiral staircase in the middle of the food hall will also take you to the rooftop/skylawn. Not much to see up there on a hot summer weekday, other than the view. But they do host concerts when the weather is nicer. I like how there are sofas/seating areas behind the 2 side staircases within each Atrium which are sort of hidden until you come up on them. I am still looking for the hidden bars and lounges which are advertised though as I didn't see any on the 2nd or 3rd floors, or on the rooftop. If you are also going to an event at 713, there is no access to 713 from the food hall/ office areas. Only a door where you can leave 713 to come into the Z atrium where the wooden staircase is located. Note, not all restaurants open til 9pm, Jackson's Brew, which is a small coffee kiosk in the Z atrium closes at 7pm. WHAT IS IT: The POST Market is an indoor food hall located in downtown Houston with ~20 vendors offering both local and international options. Beyond food, there are a few cute shops to browse and an amazing rooftop park that you can explore as well. On top of all that, they also have a gorgeous spiral staircase that's great for photos. PARKING: There is paid parking available at the POST. It's pretty high tech as their gates automatically recognize your car's license plate upon entry and it calculates your parking fees upon exit based on time. For M-Th: 0-75 min is free, $5/hr afterwards. For F-Sun: 0-30 min is free, $5/hr afterwards. You can either pay online or when your vehicle exists the gate. All of our Uber drivers told us about this location and how it's perfect for tourist so on our last day we decided to check it out. The building itself is an old post office, redesigned less than 5yrs ago. It's not very fancy but you can take beautiful pictures on the sky lawn but you cannot bring any food or drinks upstairs. There is a bar cart on the sky lawn. Downstairs there is a plethora of small businesses owners. From food to clothes to accessories,we bought a few things from Houston skateboards, ice ice boba, and crazy Cajun. The boba was chewy and delicious, and the gumbo was okay. read more

We've been wanting to come here for quite some time. We finally decided to come on a Friday and it was pretty packed. However, parking wasn't bad at all. So I couldn't imagine if this place was fully packed because parking wasn't that bad as I stated earlier, but man there's quite a few people in there. We walked about three floors of the entire post location and I have to admit they've done a really good job. There's still a lot of construction going on, but overall this place is ready to go. They have a ton of different restaurants, dessert, shops, coffee, shops, stores, gift shops, you name it. It will take a week to try all the restaurants here. We try to Thai restaurant that was pretty good. We will definitely come back and try more restaurants. I don't like the fact that you have to pay for parking. But oh well it's downtown I guess right. We will be back soon. It's very hot on the third floor during the summertime. read more

Visited The Post today and found it to be underwhelming. I was expecting a full of life, coordinated experience. Instead, it was a run of the mill food court. There was no "formal" point of welcome or anyone to answer questions. The air conditioning was nice, but no directional signage...we just wandered around. Never ran in to any employees. Like I said, it was a food court. On the top of the roof, there is a garden area, but nothing is identified, so that too, was just so-so. No desire to return. After this, we went to The Platypus - a beer bar. I will review that next. read more

Post Market is an approachable microcosm of the Houston food scene for every foodie, local or visiting. Go hungry, go curious. I had dim sum at Loy Loy and everything was delicious; the little drumsticks were my favorite, a treat in all the best ways. Crunchy and chewy with a flavorful bite of chicken curry that I didn't want to end. The sesame balls with salted egg yolk, I am OBSESSED. Went excellently with the ube boba from Ice Ice Boba and the day was ended walking off excellent ice cream provided by Flower & Cream in the Skylawn. The Aquarium is right across the street for anyone that wants to make an entire day of this, I certainly would. Parking was low stress and the crowd was casual for lunch. This place is like steeping into Batman's bat cave . At first glance you step through this mini art gallery which is like a secret entrance. And then you step into some office spaces . 2 Stars for the food, 4-5 stars for the ambiance and views. We tried 4 different spots here for food and none of them were great. If you're looking for good food, this is not it! But if you're looking to spend some time with friends and get in some nice pictures and just chill, it's nice. Super fun experience. We went for lateish snacks and dessert. After dining lite bites at several eateries we ventured out into the building and came across a shop with interesting books that looks like a museum bookstore/gift shop. We hung around long enough for someone to open a door in the back of the room and noticed some amazing lights and mirrors. When I asked whats in there with amazement, the attendant explained the Art Club to me. We had time and it sounded interesting so we bought tickets. It was one of the best experiences I've had on a whim ever. There were 13 rooms with different art exhibits that blew my mind over and over it was well worth the $33 per person plus tax and fees to have 2+ hours worth of Entertain, entertainment, eye candy, ear, candy, soul satisfaction. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a good time. Food was good with lots of options & lots of things to see all around. read more

Super cool place to checkout! They do have a parking lot, but the prices vary each day. We went and they just scanned our license plates and kept track of the time we were there and it was 5$ per hour which wasn't bad and it was right out front. They have cool restaurants and shops on the first floor that we don't have in the humble area. Everything looked really good. The second level looked like office spaces. And then you can go to the rooftop by stairs or by elevator. It was beautiful how they had it set up. We did not pay to go up because it was before 5 pm but we got the jist. If you go from 5-11 you have to pay 15$ to go up and see the lights. If the weather is nice you get a great view. All the employees were nice to us. They also had a few cool clothing options as well and jewelry. Definitely nice to check out. read more

I had a blast finally checking this spot out with my Yelp colleagues, Jando and Farrah, during a recent visit to Houston. The POST is a beautiful example of taking an old building with great design and breathing new life into it for the community. The space used to serve as a post office for the downtown area. It currently houses a rooftop event space and garden, food hall, offices and coworking spaces. I had the pleasure of grabbing an agua Fresca during my visit and exploring the vendors. The building houses everything from a pastry shop and Nigerian eatery to pizza and boba tea. The space is well laid out with fun signage and lighting. In true Houston fashion, there's a ground level parking lot out front. Word on the street is, the next phase features a hotel and outdoor seating/bar area. read more

Post Houston is essentially a food court at the mall, but with locally owned places that have other locations around Houston. I personally like it because I'm able to try a few different places in one spot without having to drive all over Houston. I can get the flautas from taco fuego (that are halal by the way) and get boba from a different place and get dessert from a different place. It's fun to be able to try a few different places without having to drive at least 20 minutes to each location like you normally would have to in Houston. I also like how there's a few different halal options to visit in one area. I also like that I am supporting local businesses instead of just chains like at the mall. When I went upstairs on the roof, there were people taking cap and gown pictures with the Houston skyline in the back. There's almost always someone pictures whenever I've went on the roof, but it's a good idea because the roof has great lightning and a great view. You do have to pay for parking. read more

Came here after an Uber driver insisted that this was the best hangout spot in Houston so I thought why not check it out? This place has a lot - a good variety of food and dessert options, a few jewelry/knick knack popup spots, a few coffee/boba places, and plenty of space to just chill out in. We tried a few of their food options - see other reviews for the exact places - but they were all good! The food was a bit expensive for a food court type spot, but it is a tourist attraction after all. The boba at ice ice was good and we wanted to try to the coffee place, but unfortunately it closed early. The best part is probably upstairs. If you go up to their rooftop, you get a good view of the city. There's a lot of space to walk around up there and they have some grassy areas that some people were picnicking and just chilling out on. It was a hot day so I'm not sure how they were surviving, but once the weather gets cooler, I'll def come back for their rooftop! read more

Why 5 stars? Because this is one of the better food halls I've been to. --- --- --- We have been meaning to get to POST for a while now and just never have actually done it. Living in the deep suburbs, it's a road trip to downtown, which prevents us from being cool as often as we'd like. But trust me, we maximized our experience when we finally did go. We went in a big group and shared countless items from several different vendors. This is definitely the way to experience POST. I will review each business separately, but as for the overall experience, it was great. I love the style of the place. Whoever came up with the design deserves all of the kudos. I had a theory that the mesh cages you see everywhere were maybe a part of the original post office somehow. I've been wrong on rare occasion, but I will die on that hill of assumption until told otherwise. We checked out the rooftop, which was really nice on a day with nearly perfect weather. I'd imagine they get a ton of use out of the space from things like yoga to other special events. This is very similar to a food hall built a few years ago in Tampa, called Armature Works. That hall took over an old building that used to house trolleys. The re-purposing and modernizing of old buildings is just the best. Here at POST, you can still see/feel the remnants of the old post office, but most of the main areas feels like it might as well be in a new building, so it's a nice mix. To whoever had the idea to do this, and more importantly, whoever funded... thank you for doing such an amazing thing for Houston. read more

The Post hosted an event called Top Taco and I had a blast. It was a taco and tequila's event. I got to try tacos from several Houston restaurants. I could. It even try them all I was so full. The vendors were creative and flavored their margaritas well. There were also several tequila vendors in attendance. The live music was great and the vibe was welcoming. I feel like my experience was heavily influenced by the let-fown that followed all the hype/marketing. It really seems like they put a lot of time/money into the build out and marketing but very little into the planning/phases of filling the space. They do have a cool concept but I doubt I'll be back unless something major comes to make it worth actually spending time here. Pros: -Design: the interior is definitely unique and the architecture is quite a draw. However, once you experience the major features (3 staircases and rooftop) you're not left with much. I do appreciate the history they have posted up at the front so you can see how the building has progressed over time. Lights/modern food court: Their take on a food court is really exciting. The design of the food stalls paired with the neon lights is futuristic and fun Music venue (maybe): I'm not sure if this is a pro or con. It's cool that they have so many shows scheduled. However that's personally not a draw for me at all. I haven't been inside the venue part. Rooftop/downtown view: The rooftop is designed really well. I like the way the seating features flow into the flower beds, as well as the faux turf. (That actually makes up for the frozen/dead real plants). The view of downtown is amazing as well! I don't understand why they don't have a bar up there though. Cons: Parking: though there are 2 lots, they are quite small for the venue and clearly fill up quickly. Nothing to do: Nasa does have an exhibit coming soon, but otherwise there's nothing to keep you there once you eat at the food court. A 3rd of the building seems to be dedicated to co-working space which is cool, but with WFH so common right now it seems a waste to dedicate so much to co-work spaces. They really should have spent more time getting the place filled with shops or other draws. I could see it being similar to like a Japanese mall with quirky shops, modern things, bookstores, photo booth shops, etc. Food: We ate at 3 places in the food court and all were lacking. I did like that you get a text when your food is done (though there's nothing much to do other than stand and wait for it anyway). Stairs: We wanted to eat on the rooftop but that hike up the stairs was killer (and were pretty active/fit). Overall, it's cool to visit once maybe. But I don't know how they'll continue to stay open if they don't get more things to do read more

I loveeeee this place!! It used to be an old post office so it's really cool to see some of the remnants of that around the building. The architecture is amazing with their many staircases. They always have the vibes and there are so many food options to choose from. On the weekends they have live music and a bar on the roof top. It's such a pretty site to watch the sunset from up there and enjoy the music. In the food hall area, there are lots of TVs so it's also a great place to go during game days. The Post is great for the vibes, the food varieties and for being a great place to just hang out or bring a large group to. I love it for the variety is offers. If you have people in your group with varied tastes, bring them here, because eveyone will probably find something they like. I tend to frequent the Philipino and African spots here. I have been to POST Houston a handful of times and it has pretty much everything I would want. First off, I love food halls because you can get a nice variety. The options include Japanese, West African, Peruvian, Italian, Thai, Vietnamese, Mediterranean, Indian, Asian fusion, and more with an emphasis on Asian cuisine. Which is my favorite type of food so I'm here for it. They also have alcohol and dessert vendors including Italian ice and gelato. I have had quite a few and I have loved them all. One is even rated very high on Alison Cook's top 100 restaurants. The interior itself is spectacular with a mesmerizing spiral staircase in the middle. Walk up it and it'll lead you to the sky lawn which offers breathtaking views of the city. You can bring your food up here too. It makes for a great date spot. 713 Music Hall is in the same building so if you're hitting up a concert, grab dinner at POST before the show. The only real complaint I have is the parking. It's free for two hours but you have to pay after that. Your other option is to find street parking. read more

I've visited POST twice now and have thoroughly enjoyed both experiences. The former post office building is unrecognizable as a hip, thriving food hall with artful staircases and breathtaking views. On visiting my first time, we were able to do paid parking in their front parking lot. However, beware of events downtown - on our second visit, the front lot was used for an event and we were lucky to find parking across the street at the aquarium. Inside, there are a few remnants from the post office architecture - a nod to the history of the building. However, you are immediately mesmerized by the bright lights and buzzing activity of all the different restaurant booths. Each booth is self-order and you pick up your food when the buzzer goes off. On both visits, I have opted for the birria tacos - the meat is cooked to perfection and the taco contents go very well together. I also tried the pupusa which was similarly tasty, but a bit more bland compared to the tacos. Next time, I would just order multiple tacos because of how delicious they were! The employees were also happy to recommend options on their menu. I would love to try more options at the food hall. There are burgers, sushi, Filipino food, and so many other cuisines! There's also a Flower and Cream ice cream booth (one of my favorite Houston ice cream stores) in the center of the food hall. A winding staircase takes you to the Skylawn, where there are 360 degree views of Houston and good photo ops with the Houston skyline. On a cool day or at night, it's fun to just sit and chat on the roof and gaze below. There are several sitting and walking areas along the Skylawn. I highly recommend checking this place out - for those visiting and Houston natives too! read more

Everyone says the POST Houston has some of the best views of the city. Unfortunately, if you come during the holiday season after 4 pm you will be required to pay to go upstairs and see their Christmas decorations between the long lines and costs we decided to skip it. I have been to plenty of food halls across the country and have never had to pay for parking. I found it strange that you have to pay for hourly parking here given that you can't really walk to the POST. That doesn't entice you to stay longer than an hour. The food options vary from BBQ to Filipino food so it's nice that there's a good variety. If possible try to come earlier in the day especially on a weekend to avoid long lines and wait times for food. read more
