My wife and I have been going to Postal Annex on Paseo Padre in Fremont since 2011 and are very happy customers. We started renting a postal box there in order to better secure our mail. The Postal Annex store is in a great location since we can go to Raley's shopping after we pick up our mail. The Postal Annex Fremont store owner does a great job of running the store and delivering our packages to us when we go to the location. We have also used the location to mail out packages to relatives. The store does also offer various services such as passport photo and notary, and of course sells shipping materials. High traffic store, not sure why UPS allowed them to omit their name from storefront. They always have an ample amount of staff around, and even when it's busy, they make every effort to make your transaction as quick and efficient possible. They wanted to charge me $10 for a USPS Priority Small Flat rate Box! I could get this box from the Post Office and other postal services businesses for FREE! I came back later that same day to ask for other shipping needs and was assisted by another worker who told me that they don't charge for those USPS boxes! Talk about unethical business practices! I'm reluctant to give them any stars, but they do offer shipping services at a convenient location. But you can definitely count on me holding a grudge all thanks to this one incident! read more

Came in today for my notary needs. This was a really efficient, one- stop shop. To sum it up, I got my document notarized, copies of a key made, bought 2 stamps and 2 envelopes. For once, my 3 year old was perfectly content waiting with me as they had a small assortment of toys for kids. These guys thought of everything!! I went there today blindly thinking that US Postal rates were the same anywhere you go. I have used other independent US Mail handlers and the fee was the same as the post office. Well to my surprise, this placed charged 62% more than the post office. Is this even legal? It should NOT be. But the bigger picture is that I will NEVER go back. So they make 62% on a one time customer. But if they charged maybe 10% markup, they might have had a long time customer. Terrible business model. I must add, that the person at the counter was very nice and not their fault. But as I know the owner reads these reviews, I would suggest lowering your prices and make a profit on volume. Served By: Ruta I honestly don't know how I'm supposed to feel about this place. On the one hand, as others have said... it's *very* unprofessional. On the other hand, the service is very personal and hometown-like. Customer Service: First of all, I want to say that this place is understaffed. Even having 1 other person working would have been helpful. Ruta was the only one in the shop in the morning, with 4 people waiting... 1 woman wanted to get her live-scan fingerprints done, 1 man wanted to get passport photos, and another man wanted to deliver a package and wanted to make sure it was done properly. I was there for the fingerprinting and the wait was horrendous. I was probably in-and-out in about 1 whole hour. This obviously was not the fault of Ruta, as she tried to manage her customers as best as possible. It's only a testament that they probably need to adjust a few shifts, otherwise it'll be stressful for all parties involved. Ruta was very kind to me. A few others might think she's rude because she speaks in a very abrupt manner, but I think it's just because when English isn't someone's native language, they have a tendency to speak in a very straightforward way. She wasn't very professional and with the amount of customers waiting in line (as I stated earlier), she seemed a bit flustered in trying to get everything done, but she genuinely tried her best - even sometimes multi-tasking and doing things for 2 customers at once! (When she was helping the woman do fingerprints, she was also talking through the man who wanted to mail the package). --- Essentially, if you're looking for efficient and professional service, I would definitely skip over this place. However, if you're looking for help with your errands with a more personal touch, screw UPS. read more

UPS PACKAGE LOST OK... Due to the extraordinary effort made by Nancy, the manager , to find our lost package I have toned down the my former post that left a scathing review of this business... Yes, our dropped off UPS package was never located, but Amazon refunded our $200 for the lost return shipment anyway. Initially we got the impression that the sincerity of the staff to find our package (no, we did not get a receipt when we dropped it off) was less than sincere, but .... They gave us the benefit of the doubt that we dropped it off (we had no proof), and we gave them the benefit of the doubt that they truly looked for the package.... Once Nancy got involved a week into this scenario though we felt assured that they did everything that they could to find our package. Nancy took a personal interest investigating this situation, including interfacing with UPS about it's possible whereabouts. It seems that there was a revelation concerning the "readability" of the pre-printed return label that we used. This situation would have been a lot easier, or possibly avoided entirely, if we had gotten a receipt from the counter-person when we handed it to them, but hey, what could go wrong? :( In any case, we are pleased with the final outcome, and the excellent customer service by Nancy considerably defused the frustration of the problem shipment.. This type of customer service is a rarity now-a-days... Rating boosted to 5 stars... We will not hesitate to use this store's shipping service in the future.... read more

I came in here around 10AM on a Tuesday to purchase 2 stamps. There was one man working and three people in line ahead of me. When I walked in I noticed a woman being helped by the only employee (apparently she didn't know how to properly tape her damn box...) so he's helping her... (I know, real hard work putting tape and cardboard together) and helping her.... and still helping her. I look at my phone and it's been 13 minutes since I had got in line. The people ahead of me were visibly irritated and I was just amused at the whole situation. Hanging with Friends was keeping me entertained enough to wait a few minutes so I didn't mind the line at first. I just felt like it was crappy customer service to let the line build up like that, I mean, yes, very nice of him to help her with freaking packing tape, but how about letting her figure it out while he helps the other customers in line? Even if he had just asked her if she minded if he had helped the line forming, I would have taken that as good service. But he did not do that. He knew we were there and never acknowledged anyone or bothered to say "it'll be a few minutes". After a couple more minutes had passed and he finally got the package taped and began helping the woman start the shipping process I left, googled the closest post office and went there. I won't go back unless it's empty and I'm in a hurry. read more

I came here to get a large awkward item shipped, and the man and woman working here were wonderful, kind, sympathetic, fast, pleasant, helpful, and positive. It does cost more to ship here. That being said, you gain convenience, having any material you need available to you, expert shipping advice, and saved time. Also, there's super random stuff for sale, that's fun to look at while you wait. I saw people coming in for random things too, like to fax a piece of paper, fingerprint livescans, a stamp -- oh, if you are coming in for something inexpensive, bring cash because credit is a $5 minimum. It would be just a 4-star place for me, but the two people working here were so thoughtful and helpful in my situation, I have to give it 5-stars. read more

I've been here several times to handle postal needs. Everything from purchasing stamps, to sending Christmas gifts, to FedEx'ing one ridiculously, insanely, overwhelmingly expensive birthday present/check to an ex-special someone (God, if friends ever discovered just how much the check was for they'd kill me!!). But I digress.... The lady who works here is always pleasant, does a bang-up job of getting you in and out as quickly as possible and even multitasks darn well. She also tells you the best price option when trying to ship - USPS, UPS, FedEx - which is nice. Other services like copying, passport photos, faxing (done this too), and PO boxes are available . Oh yeah, when the lady saw the amount of the birthday check mentioned she wisely steered me to addition options to make sure the present would get to it's destination safe and sound. Please avoid this place like the plague. No client etiquette, poor service, computers not working. You have to understand that I am a licensed professional and got my fingerprints done by Linda about 2 weeks ago to renew my license. The board calls me that they haven't received the prints. I called Linda today and inquired about it. Guess what, it was computer's fault- not the person doing the fingerprint to check if computer was offline for 2 weeks. When it will be fixed - don't know, THEY are coming to fix it today. Instead of understanding the frustration and trying to figure out how to solve the issue, she hang up on me. For 2 weeks, fingerprint computer was offline, don't know how many fingerprints were messed up. If you have your fingerprints done at the place since 6/27/2019 please check again, they weren't sent for like 2 weeks. Please Beware!!! read more

I love the Postal Annex mostly because of the two ladies that work there. Karen and her counterpart are always friendly and helpful. I've seen them interact with difficult customers with grace and dignity. I've seen them go out of their way to help disabled customers as well. They always remember me even if it's been a few months since I've been in. They always offer to find the cheapest and fastest way to get your packages to their destinations. Buying stamps there is a bit pricey so I would suggest buying them at Raley's instead. read more

Got the job done, so shouldn't really complain and hence the 2 stars. Still, I will not use this place again if I can help it. I feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome and as though I was bothering her by using her service or embarassing her with my presence. This has happened every single time I went there but I ignored it thinking it was just poor upbringing. At the last visit I noticed how different her attitude was to certain other people she was serving. Thats when I realised it was personal after all. The experience reminded me of a certain USPS branch, which by the way, has seen huge improvements in the last few years. USPS asked for feedback on a regular basis and reacted to the negative feedback with progressive change. Cant see that happening at Postal Annex. read more
